Career Advice

The modern time is very challenging, giving a lot of depression and failures to the jobseekers in most sectors of job. A good career advice can help these candidates make their career dazzling with number of job opportunities. Although, career and job and are two different things, but the former basically involves painstaking diligence while the latter one is all about being zealous for the responsibility you need to undertake for the granted job position. It is that special boulevard where you find good opportunities to prove yourself as an important asset by demonstrating your key skills and utmost diligence. Yet, if you are stuck about which career stream to pursue, seeking a career advice from a professional consultant is a brilliant step to determine your goals that will lead you to the path of success.

For a beginner, to pursue a viable career can be somewhat challenging, as their knowledge about this is either void or negligible. Yet the issue can be resolved readily if you come over to the point what hobbies or interests were of immense liking to you. And once employing them in your career hub, you can seriously start making money. Those avocations that have now turned into your profession are honestly the first springboard in providing you guaranteed success.

Being a beginner, you may not have that special skills or knowledge required to expand your potential plans and without these elements, finding a relevant job is seemingly possible. Therefore, the second important career advice portrays to go back to the past while you were in school or you can undergo some specific training that can hone your ability and skills. To be precise, you need to determine an institution where you can earn a degree/diploma/license of the stream of your best liking. This will encourage you to keep to your studies.

Ultimately, when you get a desired job, be sure to negotiate your salary. This will help catering your most needs; thereby, leading you to sustain a standard lifestyle. Then, strongly analyse the high, average and low income for your career so that you can clearly know what salary will suit to your skills and experience. If you have strong skills, there are maximum chances the salary will be decided in your accordance. But remember, while negotiating your salary, don’t be overconfident about yourself. Being patient and meek in your attitude, you can start earning money which you truly deserve and desire.

In order to be an outstanding physical therapist in medical field, there are 5 important areas that you need to focus on. These particular areas help you to develop yourself as a successful professional and you will be able to obtain satisfactory rewards.

1) Passion

No matter what line you are in, the most important thing you should have is the great passion in your work. You must have interest in what you are studying. Besides, you need to be compassionate and sincere in helping your patients when you start practicing in this line. A positive attitude in your study and your work is essential because it is the key determinant for success and failure.

2) Scientific background

Bear in mind, not everyone is born to be a therapist. This career is more suitable for people who have good scientific background. You need to accept the actual fact that there are a number of scientific subjects you must study and understand thoroughly throughout the whole course.

3) Formal Education

In order to be a qualified therapist, you need to complete your formal study at any university approved by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education. You must obtain either a master degree or a doctorate degree in physical therapy. Besides, you must also pass the National Physical Therapy Examination provided by the Federation of State Boards.

4) Technical Based Skills and Soft Skills

In order to be competent in the real working environment, it is compulsory to equip yourself with all types of hands-on technical skills. At the same time, you are required to have good communication skills, both oral and written skills as you need to communicate well with your patients on their progress and treatment.

5) Experience

If you are a new comer in this field, you must expose yourself to as many cases as possible. This is to enable you to gain as much practical experience as you can.

Attitude makes all the difference in how much you like your job. Or, more likely, your jobs. If you are typical, you will have quite a few jobs throughout your lifetime. Many people start out quite young, with odd jobs for neighbors such as baby sitting, taking care of pets while the owners are away, yard work, and so on. You will find that even in these early situations, a positive attitude will result in many benefits.

Your neighbors will be more likely to re-hire a cheerful and friendly worker. Often, they may give you a tip just because you are pleasant to be around. As you transition into the more official working world, you will be in the position of looking for a job. The job hunt can be frustrating or perhaps scary at times, but again, keeping a positive outlook can be of great assistance. Employers will respond to a confident, friendly person in an interview. Though many will understand that the job applicant may be nervous, they would not be as appreciative of an unhappy or unfriendly seeming person. Always remember the old saying, “You catch more flies with honey than vinegar.” Once you have secured a position in the workplace, your days will be much happier if you keep looking up. Enjoy what you do, and you’ll not only be a more contented person, you will find that your co-workers are more likely to give you a helping hand when you need it.

Co-workers can be a great source of friends both inside and outside of the workplace – and friends inside the workplace make a big difference. You can be more successful when dealing with customers, clients, or vendors if you can rely on the expertise of the friends (or friendly acquaintances) that you have made. You may even find that you make fewer errors, and get more done, just as a result of your positive thinking. Don’t forget that, for most, your job is about one third of your life. That alone is the biggest reason to find ways to enjoy working for work’s sake.

Your job does not have to be just a means to an end – it can be an end in itself. Many people find that their job gives their life a purpose. Ask many a retired person, and you’ll find that they miss many aspect of the workplace: the camaraderie with co-workers, learning new skills, the feeling of accomplishment that comes with a job well done. Maybe you’ve heard the advice: “Do what you love” when it comes to choosing a job or a career. My take is somewhat different : love what you do. You may not come up with a cure for cancer. You may not save the planet by inventing a car that runs on water. You may not be the greatest game inventor ever by coming up with and ESP interface for the computer. But you will have a successful life, and that’s what counts most in the end.

Each individual is responsible for building his or her own career. In this ever-changing world, everyone is looking for new ways to earn living. The purpose of career and job planning is to develop strategic plan based on one’s talents, aspirations and background, leading to a happy personal and professional life. Career planning involves identifying your choices, and then forming the goals that suit your individual needs, and the realities of job world.

How to Plan Your Career and Job

Planning a career and job is an important step for anyone who is either looking for job, or is already employed. It helps to set clear goals, and map the future career path. This panning helps you determine your weaknesses and strengths, and also helps you learn about your career options in different industries. If you are yet to enter the industry, career and job planning takes the form of interviews with prospective colleges, assessment tests, networking with other students and advisors and then finalizing your plan over a period of time. This will equip you with enough skills, knowledge and tools to enter the work world.

Job and life experiences, educational backgrounds and personal goals can either minimize or maximize the potential target career and jobs. Planning for your career involves doing some deductive reasoning and research about the locality of your job search. The types of jobs that are currently in demand vary greatly depending on the location. Getting the basic knowledge of geographic location and observing the statistics can provide you good information regarding jobs that are most competitive and highest in demand.

If you are already employed, there are certain mistakes you need to avoid so that you can plan your career and job well. Do not look for employment in other field without doing intense introspection, do not enter any field just because someone else is doing well in it, do not look for hot fields unless you feel they are suitable for you, do not go back to school without doing some test-drives in the new field, do not try to make the switch alone, do not make money the only deciding factor, be very careful when seeking services of search firms or placement agencies, do not expect to make the switch overnight and do not expect the career counselor to tell you which field to enter.

The foundation of your job search or career shift is solid, good and honest curriculum vitae. It must describe all your qualifications and entire professional career in detail. An effective resume can help you get your foot in the door and lead to personal interviews.

Knowing your salary range is an important aspect of career and job planning. This helps eliminate the prospective jobs falling outside your salary range. To know your realistic salary range, you need to do some research. The first important step is to know your fixed and variable expenses so that you know how much you need to maintain your current standard of living. While determining your salary range, keep in mind that what you might think you are really worth does not matter as much as what the employer thinks the job is worth.

Another important aspect of career and job planning is to get focused. You need to make real choices based on your career aspirations, skills and background.

Once you have successfully formulated you career and job plan, you need to find the employment through your contacts, friends, recent alumni, networking, professors and so on. If you are a fresher, it is advisable that you have a mentor who can also act as a resource in your job hunt. If you are planning a career move, yellow pages, classifieds, career fairs and employment agencies can be quite helpful.

What’s bigger than the recession? Climate change. And world leaders are struggling to agree how to tackle it. Good news: there is something you can do about it. Environmentally focused approaches are creating green jobs that in turn can become the “green shoots” of recovery that the UK economy so badly needs.

Green jobs are not sidelined for the stereotype of “do-gooders” in brown cords and woolly jumpers – it’s a pragmatic way to help change the world around you.

Chantél du Plooy takes a look at the green-collar opportunities available in the UK and how you can get involved.

Combating climate change
Climate change is natural. It is the atmosphere’s way of adapting to the amount of energy it receives from the sun.

If these changes take centuries, the biosphere can adapt normally. However, climate change is currently taking place too fast. Over the last 200 years human activity such as burning fossil fuels, dramatic population growth and clearing woodland areas has increased greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

According to the Committee on Climate Change, the UK needs to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 34% by 2020. This number is likely to increase if the UN negotiations this December in Copenhagen leads to a new deal.

A report released recently by Greenpeace International and the European Renewable Energy Council (EREC) indicated that a strong deal in Copenhagen could create 6.9 million jobs within the clean energy sector across the globe by 2030.

Reuters reported on a statement made by Greenpeace USA’s global arming campaign director, Damon Moglen who said: “Global leaders can tackle the twin crises of global economic recession and climate change head on by investing in renewable energy.

“We can choose green jobs and growth or unemployment, ecological and social collapse.”

Green-collar jobs the seeds to recovery

The Government doesn’t have a choice in the battle against climate change. If they do not comply with powerful and effective eco-friendly projects, they face massive financial penalties.

Combating climate change directly creates jobs which could ultimately help the country back to recovery.

But where will the money come from?

Currently the UK looses £650m per year through improper recycling. According to a report from Friends of the Earth, we send recyclable resources to landfills or incinerators which lead to 19 million tonnes of unnecessary carbon dioxide.

Dr Michael Warhurst, from Friends of the Earth commented to the Ecologist: “The UK is woefully lagging behind much of Europe on recycling.

“Flanders in Belgium recycles over 70 per cent of its waste – that’s twice as much as we recycle here.

“Our low recycling rate means that we have to import more expensive resources like aluminium – this is economic madness when they could be recycled here and sold for profit instead.”

Presently the Government has implemented multiple green schemes that include funding electric car production in the UK.

A £2.3bn aid package has been made available and Tata Motors has already received £10m to build the Indica Vista EV in the country.

Nissan has awarded its UK factory in Sunderland the opportunity to produce lithium batteries for their electric car.

Sunderland employs 4,000 workers and Business Secretary Lord Mandelson is hopeful that the factory might also win the full production on the vehicle.
“The Government is doing everything possible to secure electric vehicle production in Sunderland,” he commented to The Northern Echo.

Lord Mandelson added: “I am excited that we are going to see battery production in Britain, and I’m very hopeful that will be followed up by the full car production.”
In the field of renewable energy, Glasgow has recently been chosen as the appropriate location to build a £20million research centre.

The centre will have to come up with a multi-billion pound renewable energy programme for the entire Europe. This project will create 250 top engineering jobs, the Herald Scotland reported.
The future according to the Conservative Party will sprout a “Green Deal”.
The deal will introduce plans to green UK homes in order to cut carbon emissions and create jobs.
Tories will create energy efficiency services that will earn £2.5bn a year and create around 70,000 jobs and additional apprenticeships.

There are a number of jobs that have a green approach other than working in renewable energy, eco-friendly construction or hybrid vehicles. Green jobs include hydrologist, environmental engineers, pest control technicians, conservation biologist, science teacher, toxicologists, pollution control technicians, ecologists and the list continues.

Benefiting from going green

Green projects lead to job creation and generates money, which in turn funds more eco-friendly schemes and career opportunities.

The benefits of green projects are endless. Apart from the physical improvements to the environment and the economy, there is also other ways to gain.

An eco-friendly approach to your corporation can influence your company’s image positively. As more consumers become environmentally conscious, their purchasing habits transform as well.

According to Workplace Culture, being eco-friendly encourages productivity and job satisfaction.

A survey conducted by the Kenexa Research Institute (KRI) in 13 countries revealed that sustainability programmes have a constructive influence on employees.

The survey also unveiled that workers who are impressed with their companies’ eco-friendly strategies, are proud to work there and would promote their companies to others.

Practical tips to make a difference

Not everyone can drop their current jobs and join the World Wildlife Federation (WWF).
However, this isn’t an excuse to turn a blind eye. Here are some practical tips to make a difference in your everyday working life:
1. Use paper scarcely: Think twice before printing out an email, print on both sides and if possible print two pages per sheet
2. Recycle: Not only paper but also print cartridges, cans etc
3. Shut down: Your computer and everything else running before you leave for home
4. Food & Drink: Eat and drink out of containers which you can be washed and re-used like plastic lunchboxes and porcelain mugs

The Child Maintenance Enforcement Commission (CMEC) offers information and support in addition to an effective enforcement service for child maintenance options. It is responsible for taking charge of the payment of child maintenance. CMEC is a non-departmental public body with prime objective to ensure that children maintenance arrangements are in place.

Thousands of children suffer as thousands of absent parents neglect their duties. CMEC provides financial support to children who live with a lone parent or legal guardian. Child Maintenance and Enforcement Commission create policy and information for the child maintenance system. The financial arrangement for child maintenance can be provided through the statutory scheme or can also be arranged privately between the child’s parents.

Main functions of CMEC can be categorized as:

- It promotes financial responsibility that parents have for their children and hence ensures that non-resident parents acknowledge the importance of their child maintenance contribution. Hence CMEC aims to ensure that parents living apart understand their responsibilities and take appropriate action to provide financial help to their children.

- It provides information and support on the different Child Maintenance options that are available to parents. This can include offering support online, on the telephone or in-person. Issues like housing, legal and financial concerns can be discussed in confidence and can help provide additional understanding of the way child maintenance works.

- It provides an efficient statutory child maintenance service with an improved assessment, collection and Child Support Enforcement processes. In addition to informing the non-resident parent of the amount due, and the dates when payments is expected, both the court and Child Support Agency can make the non-resident parent’s employer deduct maintenance payments directly from the earnings.

The CSA is a Child Support Agency that enforces regulated financial payment and hence provides vital resources for many lone parent families. The child maintenance payment is paid by the non-resident parent to the resident, or parent with care, after the CSA has examined the information and concerning income provided by the non-resident parent’s employers. CSA reform will trace the non-resident parent and issue payment instructions in case some parents evade payment of the support fund for their child. Child Support Agency provides a maintenance service where parents with care can register an application for assistance. For enforcement of child maintenance orders, steps like freezing of accounts, early sale of property or prison for parents in extreme cases can be there in case of violation or refusal to pay child maintenance.

If you need information and support options on how to arrange maintenance, and select among various private or statutory options for making arrangements best suited to the circumstances you can always relay on Child Support Agency. You can log on to www.cv-service.org/csa.htm to know more about the Child Maintenance Enforcement Commission (CMEC) and related information.

Most of the home inspection certification bodies have recognized that a combination of formal training and hands-on experience would produce the best field performance for all the home inspectors. Although there are many online home inspector training programs in the market, people have doubts on that. They are worried that they don’t have enough exposure through online education. Their main concern is whether they can really evaluate the properties in a professional manner and they won’t be sued by clients for errors and omissions.

Online training provides us with flexible study time at any venue. We can learn all the necessary knowledge through an online school. In order to sharpen your technical skills, you are advised to take your own initiative to obtain new knowledge continuously through educational conferences and seminars in the industry. Attending these events is important in updating yourself with all the latest construction practices and legislation.

In fact, all of us know that practice makes perfect. Study online will only provide us with academic qualification and certification. However, in order to gain real experience, you are advised to get professional mentoring by learning from a certified and experienced home inspector. While you are taking lessons online, you should look for a part time job in any home inspection company. Join the company as an intern or a trainee so that you can have a clearer understanding about what inspectors do. Go along with them to different houses and buildings to observe how they execute their jobs.

To sum up, as a newcomer in this industry, bear in mind that you must always make yourself competent. You still need to accumulate as much experience as you can no matter you are pursing online or offline training.

Non-lawyering is Helpful

There are times when a licensed attorney is the only person you want working on a case. Laws protect those who practice and taking legal advice from somebody other than a bar number holding attorney is not beneficial. But, what about non-lawyering? There is a growing trend that shows non legal help can sometimes take the place of a licensed attorney.

Let’s face it; we live in a litigious society. The court systems are bogged down with cases that range from property lines being crossed to dogs that bark and disturb your neighbors, are these problems always worthy of a law suit that has to be litigated? Sometimes they are but a lot of times they are not.

If you think about all the people that are qualified to work on your case before it ever hits the lawyers desk you might be surprised at who can solve the problem. Paralegals are not allowed to give legal advice but they are the first people you will probably talk to when it comes time to see if you even have a case. They do the initial interview, they gather discovery and many times will conduct a phone interview with both parties to see if the firm is even willing to take the whole matter under advisement.

Paralegals do a lot of the legal work and can recommend, based on the information whether or not a case is even worth pursing or if it has enough merit to be filed in court. Attorneys often rely on Para-professionals to give them all the data they need. So is having a non-lawyer decide your case is really worth it? Yes, the fact that a person who knows all the facts and can present them to a lawyer helps you out in the long run. Now the case may need to be litigated if there is harm or serious laws have been broken but a misunderstanding can be taken care of by a Paralegal or by a mediator.

Mediators are often used in negotiations that don’t require monetary value or if no harm has come to either parties. Often times a mediator sits in the middle, impartial, and hears both sides. Many times after each person hears the other person’s perspective and value about the matter it can be solved with an apology or a written but not binding contract. Arbitration is court binding, mediation is both parties agreeing to work together without compromising their values.

Legal nurse consultants often deal with hospital issues such as: dissatisfied patients who are bringing a law suit against a hospital or a certain doctor. Such matters are very personal and nurses carry the Hippocratic Oath along with them all the time. Nurses who have a Paralegal degree are able to handle legal issues that other nurses cannot. They often talk with attorneys and try to work out solutions so that a law suit is not filed or the issue gets resolved without legal action. Legal nurse consultants are registered nurses who can help attorneys read medical records because of their experience. They help to consult and give medical procedures to lawyers so they know what should be considered gross negligence.

Some people think that if you are not qualified as an attorney then you cannot give legal advice, that is true but advise from a person who knows more about the case is more helpful that a frivolous law suit that may get thrown out of court for lack of merit. Non-lawyering is another alternative that many lawyers are using to lighten their case load so they can focus on the important cases.

Facing unemployment? Try to see it as an opportunity

The dire numbers of unemployment in the United States keep making headlines as companies down-size, right-size, and just re-size. We are very familiar with this scenario.

In fact, we started this online shopping business while experiencing a layoff, so we have reason to offer you optimism and our moral support from the heart.

We have friends, too, who report some of their best experiences due to a layoff.

Our friend Ellee was laid off in mid-November 2003, and she says she and her husband had their best holidays ever with her less stressed for time and available to travel and spend more time with family. She was able to find a job within four months and has been working ever since.

Ellee’s cousin was laid off this year in mid-November, and she sees it as a good time to enjoy baking cakes for friends and family, one of her favorite things to do and a thing that supports itself through contributions from people who don’t have time to do their own baking but have heard of her “hobby” and request special home-baked cakes for their holiday parties and family gatherings. She says she may even start a bakery business next year if things keep going well and orders keep coming in.

Another friend Jenny was recently laid off ,and she says she is just going to relax and enjoy the holidays for a change, not worrying about deadlines, lack of vacation time, and getting everything scheduled so she gets no calls during the official days off.

We’ve often heard people say something to the effect that being laid off was the best thing that ever happened to them. It forced them to look at their life’s work and assess what they really wanted to do; often resulting in a job shift that took them away from the corporate world and put their destiny more in their own hands.

It’s tough. As the income and benefits subside, the loss of your sense of security certainly justifies a level of anxiety. Learning to live “lean” is not something that falls in the category of fun when it’s forced on you unexpectedly. We’ve heard that living lean as a sort of hobby can be fun, but personally our lifestyle much prefers eating out occasionally, being generous with those we love, and paying our bills on time.

The Internet has plenty of advice for the unemployed about finding a job, and many government resources are available for the unemployed, so we won’t duplicate that information.

In fact, as our friend Ellee has commented to us, “If we didn’t have unemployment, a lot of people would be unemployed” due to the numbers of resources available to support the unemployed.

We do encourage you to avail yourself of all the services out there and learn as much as you can about the market and yourself during this “down” time.

Our purpose here is to encourage you to be optimistic, creative, and ambitious in finding a solution to your problem. We currently many immediately available opportunities for those interested in and motivated to succeed in the various areas of online retail, you know? And, should you choose to start your own online business, please remember we offer a consulting service to help you. If this article inspires you, let us know. Perhaps we can link to your site and help boost your sales and you can return that favor by doing the same for us.

Whatever you do, remember to take care of yourself. Exercise, get plenty of rest, enjoy a good cup of coffee occasionally, and keep an open mind.

We are grateful we had the opportunity to break away from the “corporate culture” and launch our own business. We take this time to thank those of you who have contributed to our success by ordering our products, posting to our blog, and offering us encouragement and moral support.

We look forward to enjoying a very successful 2009 with you!

Social work and helping others is all about assisting people that need guidance in their lives. There are many routes one can take in order to get into social work, and there are just as many routes to pave a superior career path. When you get into social work, you will be in a position to help other members of the society with counseling, with community support, and you will be in a position to help others augment and/or improve their lifestyle and way of living. This profession is indeed challenging, and every day that you work as a social worker opens you up to fresh experiences and new opportunities.

Social work jobs are varied; some requiring minimal training and others requiring a concentration in a specific subject or one or more degrees. You might find yourself working with the elderly, with children, with disabled individuals, with people that have problems with drugs, or you might find yourself working within the realm of education, or even in the criminal justice field. Social workers also work inside centers for families, in homes, and in hospital environments too.

Working for child protection services, in counseling positions, and in hospitals allows you to interact with others on a personal level, to offer advice and to perhaps improve the life of other individuals. Helping people is clearly rewarding work, and you are offered plenty of diversity in terms of employment positions. In addition, working in this field allows you to bring out your best attributes and to use them to help others that are in need. A feeling of value for the work that you do is also something you will experience. The jobs involve helping people all of the time. You will feel as if you are giving back to the community. You will also develop self-confidence as you work in jobs that help others, and your self-esteem will naturally elevate. What is more, you will find that social work jobs are positions that can give you a sense of accomplishment and immense pride.

Social work jobs are jobs with comfortable salaries and equally comfortable benefits. In addition, the need for new people is very high, so the jobs market is very flexible. A great benefit associated with this field is that there are myriad points of entry into the field. You can start out in a variety of social work positions and work your way upward as you define your own path of career development. The open jobs available to social work hopefuls is expanding at a super rapid pace too, since the need for social workers has been, and remains very high.

Just as a cold car battery as a hard time starting on a winter’s morning, sometimes we too need a jumpstart in our lives. It may be that you want to change careers or make a relationship work. Whatever your goal, a personal coach could be the best way to help you actualize your goals.

There are so many fields that are covered by life coaching. You can get advice for how to further or change your career. Many top executives employ a life coach to give them feedback on their performance within the overall framework of their company. You could even find someone to give you health and fitness advice.

The best thing about a personal coach is that they are a completely neutral party. No matter what you might want to do, they will help you look at it from only your perspective. If you solicit advice from your friends or family, the help they give will be colored by their wants for you. A life coach only cares about what you want for you. They then outline strategies to help you get what you want. As you implement these strategies over the course of months or years, you will return to your coach for further advice and feedback.

Only consider personal coaching if you have a specific goal in mind. Your coach is not a therapist. However, he or she can help to meet your personal goals and get your life up and rolling on the right track.

Taking a flexible approach to your working life has enabled many people to face the challenges presented by recession, economic doom gloom and scare mongering.

Stormy situations might steer your way or pass you by; however, you will have no reason to fear the future if you have kept your options open.

Increasing numbers of people are using their spare time to develop a follow-up plan by means of education, learning additional skills or rediscovering old ones.

This isn’t pessimism, it is realism and quite clever to say the least. Don’t allow a P45 to take away more than just your current salary.

The BBC News recently reported that fears of being made redundant or a widespread downturn in certain industries are making people enroll in night classes or sign up for online courses.

Developing skills to remain employable isn’t a trend restricted to only us Brits but is interestingly enough mirrored in the US as well.

“Insecurity always causes people to rethink their view of their future. People can’t count on a single employer or even a single industry anymore,” John Gnuschke, director of the Sparks Bureau of Business and Economic Research at the University of Memphis told the news provider.

“If you’re lucky enough to still have a job it’s still wise to begin to retrain and to broaden your skill base,” he added.

Not so safe haven
Peter (27) from London is currently working in the marketing sector which he realises isn’t safe at all.

“I have a dream to one day have my own business, so I have enrolled for a night class in Business Studies to make my dream a realisation,” he said.
“In our current global economic situation, many new opportunities arise from the challenges we face, and I plan to use this to my advantage,” Peter added.

Like Peter, Sally (35) from Yorkshire who works in media is keeping her options open.

“I do freelance work after hours for various companies – so that I have a Plan B ready, just in case. I’m even thinking of enrolling for a few language and small business courses at my local college so that I have the necessary knowledge and skills to be a successful freelance writer on a full time basis,” she commented.

Less television and more introspection has lead Emma (32) to rediscover old hobbies and turn them into money makers.

Emma lives in Reading and has been working in the Tourism industry for over a decade.

“With people around us loosing their jobs and the tourism industry taking a huge hit, I had to really examine where my strengths and interests lie in order to create a suitable alternative.

“I have always loved painting, but at the time I was to lazy to set-up anything and with the kids running around it just became too much of an effort. I didn’t even consider it as an alternative until a friend of mine needed help with decorating and painting her nursery.

“It was so much fun and I received so many compliments and referrals from the mural and canvas paintings I made for her room. Now, because of this I am slowly but surely getting bookings for nurseries and even toddler rooms. I am really considering taking this on full-time and I love it!”

Peter, Sally and Emma are still young enough to dive into a new career all together.

But the situation is totally different when you are nearing the age of retirement.

Research done by the Social Issues Research Centre (SIRC) has shown that Britain is experiencing a “generational divide” with regards to how we deal with the recession.

The report showed that younger people are less worried about the recession than those between the ages of 51 to 55.

Dr Peter Marsh of the SIRC said: “We will see them much better prepared for the next credit crunch and able to weather it better than their older peers have this time around.”

Ted (54) from Hampshire believes that the “generational divide” makes obvious sense.

“You can’t teach this old dog new tricks,” he laughed.

“Older people cope poorly with economic problems because we do not have enough time to recover from it. My Plan B involves much greater tactics than any of my children for example.

“Where they can learn new skills and start work on business proposals, I can only sell off my assets and reinvest the money.”

Not everyone who is faced with redundancy can take comfort in finding true love in another career.

What if you are already doing what you love?

Kelly (24) is a charity worker in Surrey who has recently been warned by her boss to start looking out for something else as the entire company might have to close its doors.

“This is my dream. To help people. And if this situation is making me nervous about my future, I can not even begin to grasp how the families will feel who we are currently keeping afloat,” she said.

Facing up
On the optimistic side it does look like we are heading for recovery from the recession.

Research from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) has showed a 4.8 jump in confidence, The Guardian reported.
The institute foresee an increase in the economy of 0.5pc and these findings suggest the economy is over the worst of the recession.

However according to the newspaper, ICAEW chief Michael Izza warns that there are still tough times ahead.

“While there is no doubt that the UK economy is on its way to recovery, we shouldn’t underestimate the challenges ahead for businesses,” Izza said.
More recent figures from the Office for National Statistics showed that our economy shrank by 0.7pc for this quarter and not the 0.8pc analyst estimated.

In the UK job sector you need to be prepared for the worst. Just to be safe.

It is possible to get through the recession unharmed, but wouldn’t it be great if you could be enhanced by it?

The number of individuals enrolling for a green plumbing course is rising due to the increasing demand for the green plumbers. You must have heard about green buildings, i.e. the ones that are energy and water efficient, and are built on the model of sustainable development. The world is amidst a water crisis. There is a shortage of potable water, and, hence, nations across the world are finding ways to conserve it.

The main function of the green plumber is to ensure that the design and layout of plumbing is such that there is no wastage of water in the green building. They also ensure that the solar heating and rainwater harvesting systems they develop are energy efficient and all the material used in the plumbing is free from harmful chemicals. Thus, they not only help an organization or household to save water and electricity, but also help people to stay fit and healthy.

Things You Will Learn At A Green Plumbing Course:

- Designing optimal layout for plumbing in a building.
- Learning about plumbing materials that are green and have long life spans.
- Developing energy and water efficient heating systems.
- Developing rainwater harvesting systems.
- How to recycle and reuse water in a building.
- Methods to reduce the consumption of water.
- Knowledge about the requirements of the LEED Certification.
- Installation processes.

One of the most important tasks of a green plumber is to develop solar heating systems that are widely used, along with the conventional gas or electric heaters for heating water in the buildings. Most of the electricity in households is spent on heating systems. A green plumber makes sure that the pipes of the heating systems are properly insulated so that there is no leakage of heat through the pipes. Also, the length of the pipes is kept to a minimum to reduce the loss of heat and to reduce the distance traveled by water from the heater to the faucets.

A green plumbing course will acquaint you with various green plumbing products, like faucets and flush systems. These green faucets and flush systems are designed to reduce the wastage of water. Also, you will be taught the importance of recycling water.

The use of proper plumbing material is of utmost importance. The plumbing material should be able to withstand wear and tear for years. This eliminates the possibility of wastage of water due to leakage. The materials should be environment friendly. Of course, nobody wants to drink water contaminated with harmful chemicals. All this information on plumbing materials will be given to you in a green plumbing course.

There is a shortage of green plumbers and, hence, if you successfully complete this course, there are bright chances of you getting a job with a leading construction house or government. This course is ideal for novice, as well as experienced plumbers. If you are a plumber, then you can greatly improve your career prospects by undertaking this program. You can even become a consultant to give advice on green plumbing after completing a green plumbing course.

By

Ramon Greenwood

No doubt about it, most of us at one time or another can identify with Comedian Rodney Dangerfield’s trademark lament, “I don’t get no respect.” That’s not surprising because our need to be appreciated along our career path is not always satisfied.

But stop and think the next time you are tempted to moan and groan about not getting respect and appreciation on your job.

Are you sure your boss and your peers are short on respect for what you do? They may not show it in tangible ways, but are you missing the positive signals?

Often, subordinates are reluctant to express their appreciation and respect because they don’t want to be seen as sucking up. Or they could be blinded by envy. In any case, at the end of the day, it’s their willingness to rely on your leadership and expertise that counts in totaling up the respect account.

Your boss may fail to verbalize his respect and appreciation for you because he knows you will carry out your assignments without pats-on-the-back. He needs all the time he can get to push other less motivated people and to clean up their mistakes.

The boss may believe that you are a professional, paid to do a job, so stroking is not necessary.

It could be that he doesn’t really understand how vital your contribution is to his success and that of the organization. For example, the boss who came up the route of manufacturing may be slow to pay respect to the job the public relations staff is doing because he doesn’t understand the function.

You may feel that this is not the way it should be; but we are dealing with the real world here.

Respect That Really Counts

What kind of respect really counts toward your career success? Sure, it’s nice to get compliments about your job performance. A “thank you” for a job well done is always appreciated. A bronze plaque is a special “feel good.” But these expressions of respect and recognition are short term.

But what really counts at the end of the day is respect measured by the assignment of more responsibility that leads to a promotion with more authority and a bigger paycheck.

Steps You Can Take

What’s to be done if you feel that you are not getting the respect you feel you deserve?

First of all, take inventory of what really counts in the career rewards you receive for your efforts. The respect and recognition account is short on the balance sheet of your career, take steps to be sure your peers, your boss, and your subordinates understand your contribution.

This is a delicate task. You don’t want to come off as a braggart who’s hogging the spotlight. But you do want the organization to recognize your true worth. Get the help of a third party–a respected mentor, a career coach–who can advise you and speak up for you.

If you believe your increasing responsibility and paycheck don’t reflect respect and appreciation for your contribution and your employer is unwilling to correct the shortfall, you may want to look elsewhere for a job that will result in these true measures of respect.

According to the home inspection standard practice set by the American Society of Home Inspectors, it is a MUST for all qualified inspectors to perform a minimum job scope to their clients. At the same time, they are not allowed to provide services which are not related to their profession.

In the real world, it is the responsibility of the professional inspectors to conduct evaluation and examine all the physical conditions of the following:

· Structural system especially the foundations, wall and roof framing
· Roof system and chimneys
· Exterior building surfaces and components
· Plumbing system
· Electrical system
· Interior building surfaces and components
· Heating system, fireplaces and solid fuel burning appliances
· Air conditioning system

Besides extensive inspection, the inspectors are also responsible to provide diagnostic and repair advice to the home owners, realtors as well as the potential home buyers.

However, it is a general prohibition for the inspectors to perform any repair work on the properties they inspect. They are strictly prohibited to offer this additional service to generate extra income.

On the other hand, if the home inspectors have adequate knowledge and skills related to environmental test, mold testing, radon testing, septic testing, termite or wood destroying insect infestation, energy audits and so on, they are allowed to offer additional inspection services to their clients. Anyway, these services are not compulsory.

In order to become the first rated home inspectors, they are encouraged to obtain learning opportunities in their states. They should attend educational conferences and seminars to keep themselves updated with the latest standard home-building codes, building information and real estate practices.

Being a professional home inspector, one of the important tasks he or she needs to perform is generating a high quality home inspection report. You may find many types of software in the market with different prices. If you are new in this line, here are some useful guidelines for you to select the RIGHT software to perform your task.

Let’s see what common features the reliable software should have. A good software is able to:

In general, from the point of view of the public, home inspection may appear to be an easy job that generates lucrative income. Well, in reality, IT IS NOT! Before getting involved in this line, the very first thing you need to determine is whether this career is really suitable for you physically and psychologically.

Below are the top 5 points you need to consider before making your decision to take up this profession.

A typical home inspector spends his or her day crawling under homes and through attics to inspect the conditions of the houses and buildings. In fact, spending the day at comfortable office is not possible. You need to make sure you are physically fit to perform the tasks.

It is indeed a complex task for new comers to understand all the systems in a home or a building. Furthermore, they are also required to have the ability to recognize the red flags to be highlighted to the home owners and home buyers.

You can’t start this career without proper knowledge and formal training from the licensed schools.

You are required to provide inspection report based on your visual evaluation and operational testing of the home systems and components. As a result, it will be quite stressful during the process of generating reports.

The liability of a home inspector is tremendous if the report written is inaccurate.

It is indeed important for you to know the real facts before joining this line. No doubt this profession is rewarding but it needs a lot of hard work and good ethics. Don’t get involved if you are not ready for it.

In the old days the HR department was known as Personnel, and people who worked there were responsible for doing the paperwork for hiring and firings and leave and that was about it. Today not only is the role of the HR professional far more demanding than it’s ever been before, its also now seen as essential to the success of the business.

Whereas before someone working in an HR position would have been viewed as a function of payroll, nowadays they’re often regarded as a partner of senior management in devising growth strategies for the company.

Over the last 20 years the HR function has evolved into a dynamic and popular career choice and the role now encompasses a number of areas.

Today’s HR professional will find themselves dealing with a range of issues, like time planning, pension, staff development and training, and occupational health and safety, among others.

The role has changed in response to progressive legislation that governs the relationship between employers and employee, which has grown complex in recent years. Legislation has evolved to reflect the contemporary culture of equity and human rights.

It’s an exciting time to be an HR practitioner. The field has widened so much that human resources is now shedding its image of a little grey, back office, job and is now considered one of the hot careers for people entering the job market.

Why the HR role is important
Employees can make or break an organisation. Organisational success therefore depends on finding the best qualified people for a job and then nurturing and retaining their talent and skills and this is where a good HR practitioner can play a vital role. Equally, HR is important in communicating with employees that no longer fit the organisational profile or who no longer have goals that are congruent to that of the organisation.

Human organisation and relationships can be incredibly complex, more so when there is compensation and defined hierarchical structures involved. It needs specific expertise and skills to manage those relationships.

Demanding role

For a career in the field of human resources, you need to possess a range of personal qualities and skills including so-called ‘soft skills’ like integrity, fair-mindedness, and a persuasive, congenial personality. You should be able to cope with conflicting points of view, function under pressure, and be skilled at communication at all levels.

It needs a good level headed approach and it is important to remember that many of the responsibilities of the job are very confidential.

‘Hard skills’ are also necessary, which includes things like computer proficiency, strong written and oral communication, math, and principles of business.

Human resources managers are there to assist companies to utilise effectively the best of their employees’ skills, to provide the appropriate training opportunities to enhance those skills, and to look for ways to boost the employees’ satisfaction with their jobs and working conditions.

A good HR manager therefore should be able to bring a range of skills and experiences to the table that can be used to support the organisational team in achieving the appropriate goals. Any organisation can benefit from the focus that an HR professional brings to the company, but this relationship can be especially beneficial to large companies where employees and employers do not have many opportunities to meet with each other.

Whatever the size of the company, the choice of sectors and roles for an HR graduate is diverse.

Massive range of career choices

There is a substantial range of levels of human resource management positions with differing levels of responsibility. Because qualifications in this field can be employed in virtually every industry, the choices of where and how to work are enormous.

HR graduates can choose from a range of jobs that include roles such as personnel administrators, human resource managers and consultants, industrial relations officers, personnel managers, union representatives, management trainees and recruitment specialists.

Recent graduates will probably start off their careers by working in a some sort of a general capacity which will see them do a little bit of everything rather than focus in one area. Some people like working like this and will stay an HR generalist all of their working lives, especially if they prefer to work in a small company.

Others will find their interests drawn into one specific area and may choose to specialise in this area, for example as a compensation and benefits manager, an employee relations officer, a recruitment and procurement manager, or someone who spends time in helping others learn new skills and develop their own career.

Headquarters of companies with hundreds, if not thousands, of staff members are more likely to offer this level of specialisation in HR roles.

The future of HR

Although the HR profession is constantly evolving and adapting to the changing needs of the working environment, experts have identified several critical roles for the HR manager in the future.

The Financial Officer

A numbers based role, where the HR practitioner applies metrics to support the decision-making process in companies. How much do certain employees contribute to the bottom line? How much value does specific training add to the business? Which functions or programmes do not add value and should be eliminated?

The Internal Consultant

This role supports specific managers throughout the organisation by empowering them to recruit, interview, hire and retain the talent that they need. It also includes counselling line managers on key legal and ethical matters such as disability and age discrimination laws.

The Talent Manager

A role that is responsible for finding, developing and keeping the best talent and skills needed within the organization. The HR professional will manage learning and skills development as well as succession planning.

The Procurement Manager

A role that decides what jobs can be better handled by outsourcing. This professional monitors quality and costs, stays on top of trends in this business, and maintains a close working relationship with outsourcing firms and vendors.

The Self-service Leader

This person works with internal and external information technology specialists to establish and run web-based portals for various automated functions, such as benefits and pension administration, that support employees.

What is notable in the description of these roles is that the profession of HR has definitely moved away from a paper-shuffling, desk bound position towards a essential, strategic, forward thinking role. HR is attracting talented graduates and continues to evolve to best match a changing business environment.

The 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games is three years away and yet projects are ahead of schedule.

Lord Coe, chairman of the London Organising Committee told BBC News that they have met all 10 milestones the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) had set for this stage of the preparations.

“We are a little bit further ahead of bang on target. Not only is this project on track but it will actually deliver some extraordinary prizes,” Coe added.

Recently Lord Coe wrote about these developments in The Telegraph.
“When I delivered our bid to the International Olympic Committee in Singapore four years ago, a central part of our commitment was to seize the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of regenerating neglected east London, and to provide jobs, opportunities and hope for generations to come. And we’re doing that,” he wrote.

UK jobs in the capital are benefiting from the developments and will continue to do so according to him.

“Our delivery partner, the Olympic Delivery Authority, has sought work worth more than £3.5 billion from 935 companies, while we expect 75,000 business opportunities to have become available by 2012,” he added.
Although the recession could be seen as the worst time ever for any country to host an expensive event like the Olympic Games, there are many who believe that it could be the solution to surviving it.

BBC News reports on a statement made by IOC president Jacques Rogge who justified his confidence in the country to host the event during such a turbulent point in time.

“The Games have survived difficult times before. They have survived and thrived because of what they mean to people all over the world,” he said.
“The Games remind us that the transient difficulties of life can be overcome through hard work and determination.”

The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson recently wrote in the London Evening Standard that the Games create a sense of hope and euphoria.
“We are going to put on the greatest show on earth, and to use the investment to transform parts of London that have been neglected for decades. I am determined to use these Olympics to help generate jobs, and to improve the whole city,” he wrote.

Current Olympic jobs and future opportunities for employment leading up to the event often mistakenly fall only under the construction label, seeing as this is the most obvious.

However, construction jobs aren’t the only jobs that will stem from the Games.

London Evening Standard reports that the budget hotels group, Travelodge has invested £84m on six different properties in London as well as creating 200 new jobs in catering and hospitality.

“We have long stated our aim of being the lead brand in London by the time of the Games. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the tourism industry and we intend to take it with both hands,” Grant Hearn, Travelodge’s chief executive told the publication.

Catering and Hospitality could see more opportunities opening up as companies enlarge before 2012.

Like Sarah (24) a waitress from Devon who has recently relocated to London to try for a better job.

“Luckily I wasn’t looking for too long. I am now employed at a company that expanded with a new restaurant in East London in order to benefit most from the Games,” she said.

Although the Olympics is still far away, Sarah thinks she wouldn’t have found a job easily or even at all, if it wasn’t for the prospect of the Games.

The capital is buzzing with excitement as restaurants, hotels and tourist attractions improve and gear-up to accommodate all the tourists that will be flooding the city.

Government officials and organizers of the event daily express their excitement towards the current developments as well as the future of the UK.

But what do you think?

Peter (44) a restaurant manager in Kent thinks that London and London only will reap the profits from the event.

“I think the majority of the tourists will eat and stay in East London or as close to it as possible,” he said.

Karen (29) from Manchester is still optimistic about what the Olympics can do for the city she lives in.

“The Olympics will be good for the economy but I hope smaller businesses will benefit as much as large companies and that other cities in the UK such as Manchester will also enjoy regeneration as a result of the Games,” she said.

“So far though preparation for the Olympics has not done much in my opinion to help the thousands of people who lost their jobs as a result of the recession,” Karen added.

Gary (28) from Reading is irritated by all the sceptical comments people have been making.

“I think it will give the economy an enormous boost. Yes, money is being spent but the UK is the first country to host a go-green Olympics making it something different and interesting,” he said.

According to a Redhill and Reigate Life article, the ODA estimates that 75,000 contracts worth around £6bn will be won nationally leading up to the Games as well as during, and that the South East for example will benefit economically with £1bn.

Surrey County Council has pledged to assist businesses with as much help as possible to make sure that the county’s businesses claim their share.

“Now is the time to give our businesses the help and advice they need to clinch work on offer in the run-up to, and during, the Olympics,” Denise Saliagopoulos, county council cabinet member told the publication.

“Surrey is well placed to benefit from the Olympic effect because the county is between two major airports and has key road and rail links into London, and we intend to ensure businesses in the county get the maximum benefit,” she added.

Let’s fast forward our thoughts to the year 2013…

The Olympic Games are done, tourists have come and gone and let’s say the ODA was right and the UK economy has done as well as they anticipated.
Now what? Surely the new stadiums that were built won’t be barred up to only use the next time London is honoured by hosting the Olympic Games again?

“After the Games, that momentum will carry forward as we will have addressed key issues such as the lack of swimming and cycling facilities in the capital and will have left legacy and infrastructure for future generations to enjoy,” Lord Coe wrote in his article in The Telegraph.
According to the UK Press Association the Olympic Park could now host events like Twenty20 cricket, London Fashion Week and farmers’ markets.
Everyone has an opinion about the 2012 London Olympics and Paralympic Games, some bad, some indifferent and some great.

However, the fact remains that if the UK didn’t have this event to create extra jobs and added business, there would have been thousands more left jobless, and millions left with not even a glimmer of hope for things to get better.

Engineering Recruitment is one of the fields rowing rapidly within the business communities for outsourcing purposes. In simple words, outsourcing is to put your work load on someone else’s shoulder without having to worry about the costs incurred on that specific outsourced task, and the resources (labour, space, equipment) essential to carry out that specific outsourced task.

You need professional services in order to perform tasks well, similarly like you call upon a mechanic when your car breaks down or you seek doctor’s advice when you’re not feeling well. Obviously you do not stand up and fix these problems yourself, because you are not well capable of doing so like the professionals, and you know it too. By outsourcing your recruitment process to an engineering recruitment agency, or part of your HR process, you can not only reduce costs tremendously but you can also notice positivity about the standard of employees your organization is getting.

Having one skilled resource is way profitable than having a swarm of unprofessional workers, and making the right choice about who is capable enough and who’s not is not an easy task at all. With business goals to pursue, a business owner cannot simultaneously spend time on interviewing people for hiring purposes and looking after business growth. A cost effective and time saving choice in this case would be to outsource your recruitment management to professionals who can decide better the technical soundness of a certain resource.

There is an obvious difference between the candidate you select and the candidate a recruitment firm can select for you. You may fall in for an applicant showing you brilliant CV made by fallacy, but the firm knows how to read between the lines and separate fallacy from genuinely. To judge the body language, confidence level, actual experience, and professional soundness of a person is not something you can do on your own. While the outsourcing recruitment specialists can do this on their fingertips—hey, it’s their job right? And they do this every second of the day! Outsourcing your recruitment management is good if you want to:

• Lower costs which may be endured in establishing a full fledge HR department for recruitment purposes
• Reduce time to focus on core business growth and other important issues facing the business
• Get yourself exposed to a number of job seekers round the globe
• Attract the best pool of skilled workforce for your organization
• Short listing CV’s to extract the best applicant for the engineering job

We all know, it’s the people who can make or break any organization and even one wrong hiring can be extremely devastating. If you are in search for reliable partners to outsource your recruitment tasks with, and who can understand your corporate culture like their own, please contact PeopleTek.co.uk.

While looking for a job, the first leg of your preparation involves putting together an impressive resume. You need to create a resume that will not just catch attention of the recruiter but also create a lasting impression. Whether you are just out of college looking for a fresher job or an experienced professional looking for jobs in India for senior profiles, your resume speaks a lot about you. So, you would want you come up with an impeccable document that effectively sells your skills in front of the interviewer even before you have met him. While you will get a lot of ‘What to write’ advice from experienced people on preparing a resume, there is also some ‘What to avoid’ advice that you need to be able to produce a winning resume.

1. A focus-less resume

No matter how much time you put in to prepare your resume, always remember that a recruiter will spend not more than 20-25 seconds to screen your resume and deciding whether or not he wants to read it in detail. So, a resume that lacks focus is hard to go past the screening in that first glance. If you list information randomly and without a clear objective and strong messaging, your resume will lose out. From the first line itself, you have to make it clear what value you can bring to the organization. You have to map your skills to the benefits that the organization can derive by hiring you. Don’t talk vaguely. Talk in a crisp and sharp manner by clearly stating your career objective followed by your relevant experience and skills. In fact while applying to different companies for

2. A duties-driven resume

While listing your experience in the past, you would be tempted to write about all the duties and responsibilities that you undertook in that job role but the recruiter is not interested in treading that. He wants to know your accomplishments so make your resume talk about your accomplishments and achievements during your past work experience rather that just talking about the duties. This will instantly set you apart from the rest of the candidates. Enlisting responsibilities looks like writing about a job description. You should write about what you did at your job to make an impact and bring success, make more money, save time or expand the business. This is what the recruiter is interested in knowing.

3. Items listed in a mechanical order

While most jobseekers believe that all information should be listed in a chronological order, this can be a wasteful exercise many times. Unless you had an eventful and successful career throughout, you might as well want to write items in an order that would interest the reader. While it is important to mention the dates, it is more important to first write about the stuff that is directly relevant to the job requirement that you have applied to. Always mention those experiences first that are important to the recruiter reading the resume. Similarly, write about those important skills and education first that are relevant to the job role. Don’t bury your most important skills and salient selling points towards the end of the resume. If you have essential computers kills or have learnt a foreign language or any other courses that will aid you perform better in this job, enlist it before other qualifications. This way, the recruiter will be interested in reading the resume because he would know that you are the right person for the job.

4. A non-bulleted resume

No body has the time and inclination to read elaborate paragraphs about you, no matter how qualified or experienced you are. Thus, bullets are sacrosanct for your resume. There is no way you can avoid the usage of bullets in your resume. Bullets make the information more reader-friendly and it is easier to glance through it. Also, use bold sub-headers wherever you can. Make the usage of bullets consistent and not haphazard.

5. A resume riddled with spelling and grammatical mistakes

It is a big put off to read a document with spelling and grammatical mistakes and more so if it a resume. It immediately sheds light on the competence and the preparation of the jobseeker so this is one mistake you must avoid. Make sure your resume is proof-read by an expert or a senior before you prepare the final copy. Sometimes, a typing error or a slip can ruin your resume. So, get it checked for any such mistakes by one or two people before you forward it to recruiters.

Keeping these few things in mind, you can prepare a ‘hire-me’ resume that will talk positively about you in front of recruiters and help you get the job you have been looking for.

As a personal trainer, your job involves teaching people about the benefits of health and fitness, as well as inspiring and motivating them to do their best. However, this can be a challenge when you are spending more time trying to find new clients or compete with other fitness trainers in the job market.

Have you ever thought about using the power of the internet to make more money? I have seen personal trainers reach financial success earning thousands per month just from selling their knowledge online in the form of digital products like ebooks, audio (cd’s/mp3′s), and video (web/dvd’s.)

There is no reason that you can’t take what you already know and do the same thing. Each personal trainer out there is unique and offers their own personal points of view in terms of fitness. People seek this advice but not from just anyone.

When it comes to the health industry, people love to try things that are proven to work by word-of-mouth from other people, or from expert advice such as a personal trainer. The market is there for you to tap into.

How to Get Started Online

First you will need to put a program together. Generate your own ideas, philosophies, and knowledge about fitness. There is no need to copy anyone else. You already have the information you need just from your experience. Create your program and place it into ebook (PDF format), audio, or video format. You can even combine all 3 for a full package.

Get a web site up by hiring a web programmer, using ready made templates, or a blog. Market your web site over the internet by writing articles, using social media sites like Facebook, or buying advertising space on other fitness sites.

Let people know about your new product whenever and wherever you can. You can sell your digital products through using any shopping cart software that specializes in the selling of digital goods. Doing a basic search should help you find the top companies.

Success won’t happen overnight but once you have created your product, it will be there making money for you 24/7!

Would you like to save time on product creation and still use your expertise as a personal trainer to make more money part-time?

The first time embarking on something new can be a little scary, mostly because you’re not sure exactly what to expect. Whether it’s making a cake for the first time or flying a plane for the first time, while these are drastically different, there is some legitimate fear there. In most cases, these things tend to work out for the best, and you will find that your fear is somewhat illegitimate after it’s all said and done.

For the first travel nursing assignment trip, it’s essentially the same thing, as you’re not sure exactly what to expect. Luckily, there are many people who have done this, and there are a few tips to keep in mind to maximize the success on your initial assignment to the destination that you have chosen.

Scouting Report

Ideally, you would want to know your area before you go there, so you can see what you’re up against. Actually, this is good advice for whether this is your first time or ninetieth time travel nursing. Anyhow, you want to investigate the area as much as you can. When you do this, you can see if there’s enough to do to keep you there on your downtime, so you won’t be bored or too entrenched in your work.

Make it Favorable

If at all possible, you’d want to go to a destination where you’ve been meaning to go anyway, like a vacation. There are multiple reasons why this is a good idea. For starters, if you go somewhere you’ve been meaning to, you’ll find that you’re a lot more excited about the job. This is something that will work wonders for you in the long run; you disposition will be sunnier, and you’ll absolutely love waking up in the morning. And during your days off, you will essentially never run out of things to do during your stay, as a typical 13-week contract will leave you with a lot of downtime.

Take it Easy

You don’t want to be overextended, because you’ll be burnt out too quickly and the whole process may leave a bad taste in your mouth. Let’s say that you work in a hospital with only a couple hundred beds, you don’t want to jump into a situation where there are sufficiently more beds. Additionally, if they are a teaching facility, that would also be favorable, because you would want to be totally updated on the hospital’s protocol; you don’t want to make many mistakes. Not only that; you’ll find that you’re tired and when you’re tired, the accident rate is a lot higher than if you were fully rested.

There is nothing wrong with having a few pre-assignment jitters, and it is completely normal. If you keep these tips in mind, you’ll find out that you have made an amazing decision in becoming a travel nurse, as it is infinitely more rewarding than just the money that comes along with it. The experiences that you’ll have once you reach your destination will last a lifetime.

RN jobs are not hard to find, travel nursing jobs are waiting for you all over the country.Article Source:http://www.articlesbase.com/careers-articles/first-travel-nursing-assignment-tips-1107152.html

Tough Interview Questions

I remember whenever I’ve had to Interview for a position in the past the bit I always looked least forward to was the stage where the Interviewer asks me questions. The majority of which were easy to answer as its very clear what information the Interviewer was looking for, but there were always the odd tough Interview Questions thrown in to throw me out.

Those coupe of tough Interview questions were always difficult to answer as it was never clear what information the Interviewer was looking for.

I’ve since been working in recruitment for some time and have been the Interviewer asking those tough Interview questions on many occasions. Its clear that many candidates still don’t know what I’m looking to hear from them. So I thought I’d cover some of the tough Interview Questions and ways to answer them.

Tough Interview Questions: How to answer them

Tough Interview Questions: What are your weaknesses?

State a weakness but turn it into a positive: “At times I’ve been considered too much of a perfectionist, I use to get irritated if I felt someone else’s work on the project was below company standard, I’ve since learnt that I can’t affect other peoples work so channel my energies into making my work as high a standard as possible”

Tough Interview Questions: How have you managed to attend an Interview in works time?

“I didn’t want to deceive my current employers, so I asked them if I could take an unpaid day of leave to attend to a personal matter”

Tough Interview Questions: How do you feel about carrying out repetitive or mundane work?

“I appreciate every position has an element of repetitiveness but I take all aspects of my job seriously whether they are repetitive or not and always give 100%.”

Tough Interview Questions: How do you handle Criticism?

“At some point we all make mistakes, I’m always happy to take on constructive criticism as this will help me perform better.”

Tough Interview Questions: How long would it be before you would expect to be promoted?

“I couldn’t give a time scale, I would want to prove myself and demonstrate my value to the company, I appreciate that promotion is a reward, not a right”

Tough Interview Questions: What sort of people do you find it difficult to work with?

“I am a very amiable person and very team orientated, If I were to find it difficult to work with someone, it would be someone whose standards doesn’t reach that of the team.

Tough Interview Questions: What do you think of your existing employers?

” I have really enjoyed working for xxx and am thankful for the some, training and career progression that they have provided to date.”

During financial hard times, you may be one of the retrenched employees or unemployed graduates. You might be eager to look for new jobs in order to survive. If you have been involved in the field of construction or engineering for a period of time, you may consider obtaining the certification as a qualified home inspector. This is because during economy crisis, this profession has been considered as one of the most ideal part time jobs in the employment market. It allows you to work on your own and you can set your own schedule. You are able to generate extra income for yourself as well as your family.

In order to start this career, you are required to attend the formal training courses to learn the necessary skills on evaluating gas lines, roof, door, heating and plumbing system. You are also taught to inspect the overall property structure and produce proper written reports. During economy downturn, you may have the thinking in mind whether it is really worthwhile for you to invest some cost on these training courses. In fact, you don’t need to worry at all. Your small investment in home inspection training is really worth. It is proven by the statistics from US Department of Labor. It is clearly stated that the annual income of this profession ranges from USD 45,000 to USD 65,000. Isn’t it attractive? If you take it as your part time career, you can easily get at least USD 20,000.

Home inspector is indeed a convenient side job to supplement your current income. Once you have established a wide network in this particular industry, you may switch this part time job to be a full time business as this profession allows you to be your own boss and you are able to generate lucrative income.

Here are some tips for a job interview that will help you come out of the process on top. When you walk into a job interview, the product you are selling is YOU. In order to successfully sell yourself, you must market your personal brand. That is, you must build a reputation that qualifies you, and only you, to successfully fulfill the job requirements. The job interview is your time to shine – your time to sell yourself and your abilities. In order to do that, you must have faith in your personal brand. That’s what separates you from the rest of the candidates for your desired position. If you can do so successfully, you will be well on your way to landing the job of your dreams.

The successful job interview process begins when you accept the interview, and ends when the employer decides to hire you. The more you are able to communicate professionalism with personality, distinction and skill, the better your chance of getting the job.

15 Sure-fire Ways to a Successful Job Interview:

Before the interview:

Use the 3 P’s – Plan, Prepare, and Practice.

1. Prepare for the interview; research the company and prepare questions based on your research.

2. Do mock interviews in order to prepare for all questions, especially uncomfortable ones.

3. Dress professionally even if the company dress code is business casual.

4. Arrive early! (12 – 15 minutes before the interview)

At the interview:

5. Give your interviewer a firm handshake. A powerful handshake and a genuine smile will get you off to a good start.

6. Beware of your Body Language; sit erect, stand and walk with confidence, lean forward toward the interviewer.

7. Build rapport – use powerful, effective communication techniques. Take charge of the encounter without being overbearing.

8. Be a good listener. Answer only what’s asked, in a brief but effective manner.

9. Show enthusiasm and sincere interest. Don’t act desperate.
