Career Advice

The modern time is very challenging, giving a lot of depression and failures to the jobseekers in most sectors of job. A good career advice can help these candidates make their career dazzling with number of job opportunities. Although, career and job and are two different things, but the former basically involves painstaking diligence while the latter one is all about being zealous for the responsibility you need to undertake for the granted job position. It is that special boulevard where you find good opportunities to prove yourself as an important asset by demonstrating your key skills and utmost diligence. Yet, if you are stuck about which career stream to pursue, seeking a career advice from a professional consultant is a brilliant step to determine your goals that will lead you to the path of success.

For a beginner, to pursue a viable career can be somewhat challenging, as their knowledge about this is either void or negligible. Yet the issue can be resolved readily if you come over to the point what hobbies or interests were of immense liking to you. And once employing them in your career hub, you can seriously start making money. Those avocations that have now turned into your profession are honestly the first springboard in providing you guaranteed success.

Being a beginner, you may not have that special skills or knowledge required to expand your potential plans and without these elements, finding a relevant job is seemingly possible. Therefore, the second important career advice portrays to go back to the past while you were in school or you can undergo some specific training that can hone your ability and skills. To be precise, you need to determine an institution where you can earn a degree/diploma/license of the stream of your best liking. This will encourage you to keep to your studies.

Ultimately, when you get a desired job, be sure to negotiate your salary. This will help catering your most needs; thereby, leading you to sustain a standard lifestyle. Then, strongly analyse the high, average and low income for your career so that you can clearly know what salary will suit to your skills and experience. If you have strong skills, there are maximum chances the salary will be decided in your accordance. But remember, while negotiating your salary, don’t be overconfident about yourself. Being patient and meek in your attitude, you can start earning money which you truly deserve and desire.

9 Keys to Job Search & Career Success

In recent months, the job market has become increasingly competitive. But even as the economy slows, and there are increasing numbers of job seekers in the job market, there are many professionals who have been incredibly successful in conducting fast, effective job searches. What do they have in common? How are they doing it? Here are nine tips to speed your own job search and drive it to a fast, successful conclusion.

Know what you want and go after it. Starting a job search without knowing what you want will almost certainly end in frustration. Think about it: If you don’t know what you want and what your job target is, how will you know who to contact and how to conduct your search? If you are uncertain about your career goals, it is critical that you spend some time and energy now – before launching your search – on self-introspection and analysis. Knowing what YOU want, what YOU are passionate about, and what YOU bring to the table will provide you with a confidence that simply can’t and won’t be matched by many of your competitors in the job market. This is the crucial first step to any job search and is essential for long-term career success as well.

Know and sell your personal brand. When you think about your next career move, how would things be different for you if employers and recruiters actually sought you out? Personal branding (the process of clarifying and communicating what makes you and your unique value proposition different and special) allows you to make a name for yourself. It differentiates you from your peers and helps to position you as a leader in your field – as a specialist and an authority who knows how to do a job and fill a particular niche in the workplace better than anyone else. Once you are clear on your personal brand, you can use it to project a cohesive brand image and value proposition throughout all your job search activities, and do so in a way that addresses the specific concerns of your target audience. By knowing and promoting your brand, you achieve instant, precision-like focus that positions you as the ideal candidate for the specific type of opportunity that interests you. You gain immediate competitive advantage.

Be able to clearly articulate who you are and what you have to offer. While this may feel uncomfortable to you, the simple truth is that a job search is a sales and marketing campaign: a sales and marketing campaign in which YOU are the product. Through the process of personal branding, you must identify what differentiates you and paint a compelling portrait of your unique value proposition. But, don’t stop with just promoting this in your resume and then become tongue-tied when someone asks about you and your candidacy. You will hear the “what do you do?” or “tell me about yourself?” questions over and over, both during your job search and throughout your entire career. Don’t wing it! Preparation is the key to confidence and the key to making a lasting, positive, and memorable first impression. Be ready with a 30-60 second pitch that immediately and confidently conveys to the listener who you are as a professional and what it is that you offer.

Make their first impression your best impression. Take a hard look at your resume. Like it or not, your resume is your first introduction to most employers, and your only chance to make a good first impression. Effective resumes are highly focused marketing pieces that are strategically written and designed to sell YOU as THE best solution to a potential employer’s needs and problems. Your resume should be written to convey and illustrate your unique value proposition, with succinct “stories” that differentiate you from your competitors in the job market. Does your resume accomplish these goals? Is it focused effectively? Does it accurately present you in the way that you wish to be presented? If not, it is time to rewrite.

Network, network, network…and then network some more. At least 80% of all the jobs are found through the “hidden” job market, also known as the “unpublished” job market. These are jobs typically landed through word of mouth and referrals as opposed to answering ads, posting your resume to internet databases, or other techniques meant to target the remaining 20% of all jobs in the published market. It stands to reason that if the vast majority of the jobs are to be found in this hidden market, that you should spend the majority of your job search time working to crack it. There is no more effective job search technique than networking. So, even if it feels a little uncomfortable at first, just get out there and do it. Make networking a part of your daily routine and plan to spend the majority of your job search time on networking activities (approximately three-fourths of your time is a good estimate). The more you network, the faster your current job search will come to a successful conclusion and the faster and more successful any future job searches will be.

Plan and execute a multi-pronged job search campaign. Yes, networking is essential, but other job search techniques are also important. An effective job search campaign is a multi-pronged one that includes the strategic, planned, methodical use of a variety of job search approaches. Answering ads alone is almost never enough. Neither is working with headhunters, using internet job search sources, or researching and targeting specific employers. But, when you combine all these approaches with networking, carefully evaluate and prioritize the approaches based on relative effectiveness, and then launch an integrated, multi-pronged job search campaign, you will always come out ahead. The best job search is one in which the job seeker approaches it as if it was a job itself.

Build a support team. While your preparation will certainly ease the whole process, job searching can be a grueling and very stressful experience. So, I want to remind you that you don’t have to go through it alone. You should build a support team around you of people who can help you stay motivated and on track while giving you honest feedback and helping you stay accountable to the goals you set for yourself. Family and friends, past and present managers, your peers and colleagues, financial advisors, and professionals in the careers industry such as career counselors, coaches, and resume writers all make excellent people to add to your team. By assembling a good mix of people to support you, from a diversity of backgrounds and professions, you will receive a variety of different perspectives, ideas, and insights that can be very helpful. You should consider joining a job search support club or group – a local one if one is available or an online one. If you have been provided with outplacement services by your former employer, by all means take advantage of the office space and resources offered. The point is that you don’t have to and shouldn’t conduct your search in isolation. Surround yourself with a team that will help and support you. Above all, recognize when you need support and don’t be afraid to ask for assistance and guidance.

Always follow up. Following up on all of your contacts and your activities can do more to influence your success in achieving your job target than anything else. A hand-written thank you note or a more formal, typed thank you letter after speaking with a networking contact, attending an informational interview, or after attending an actual job interview can make a lasting positive impression that gives you a distinct competitive advantage. A follow-up phone call on every resume you send, whether it is a resume sent cold, in response to an ad, or based on a referral from one of your networking contacts can make all the difference in whether your resume is actually read and considered or not. A consistent method of follow up is key and you must make the time in your schedule to do so. Follow up will positively influence decision-makers, it will help key the process moving along, it will show your interest and your professionalism, and it will position you above the competition.

Adopt a “failure is not an option” attitude and make finding a job a job itself. Celebrate your accomplishments daily and weekly, but recognize that a successful job search requires persistence and consistent effort. The more “feelers” you put out, the more contacts you make, the more resumes you put into the hands of hiring authorities, and the more face-to-face interviews you go on, the faster you will achieve your job target. It can be difficult to remain motivated when you don’t immediately see results but remind yourself that job searching is a process and that it takes time. Reward yourself not just for the results, but for the effort.

A career development centre can be a service, or a group of programs that provides people with any level of education, whether they are undergraduate, a graduate, or an alumni, to plan for or deal with career transitions that inevitably arise in the life of any person. Each career development centre will have a career counsellor even though the centres may operate differently. All career counsellors provide guidance through personal interaction.

We spend nearly 100,000 hours in our lifetime working. Wouldn’t life be different if you loved your work, rather than dreading Monday mornings?
Question by : Career????
I’m 20 years old and I don’t know what I want to do with my life. Right now, I’m a nanny and I LOVE it. I love feeling like I’m making a difference in a person’s life but I’m living paycheck to paycheck with no extra money at all. I’m getting married in three months and my fiance has a really good paying job but, I don’t want to be a bum wife that depends on her man to take care of her, you know?

I change my mind on a daily basis… One day I want to be a [starving] photographer and then the next I think being a nurse would be kind of cool. The next day, I’m thinking about being a social worker.

Finding Your Career Fit

Have you ever had a job that just wasn’t a fit? I sure have, and I was miserable. Even when I really liked the work, there were some days I barely had the energy to get up and go to the office. I wasn’t happy to be there. I didn’t feel like my work was making a big impact. I lost my enthusiasm and creativity. At the end of the day, I was so drained. Then, I’d go to bed and get up to do it all over again. I felt like a hamster on a wheel and dreamed of escaping, but I felt stuck. Maybe you’re in that job now and you’re miserable.

So, what do you do when you feel stuck and miserable in your career?

Figure out what isn’t working. Usually, there is one aspect of the job that isn’t working for you. It could be that the work you’re doing isn’t interesting, you’re in the wrong role, or you’re in the wrong environment.

When the work isn’t interesting, and you’re struggling to keep up
Sometimes, the work you’re doing just isn’t interesting anymore. I see this a lot when people get stuck using skills they’re good at but don’t enjoy using. For example, I’ve had highly creative clients, who are also organized, get stuck in project management roles. In those roles, they have to focus on details and information. But, what excites them is coming up with new ideas for products or programs and handing the details over to someone else. Working against your interests is a stressful place to be, often leading to burnout. Before long, your enthusiasm and engagement in the job will go away. That will lead to poor performance and ultimately, you could get fired.

When you’re in the wrong role, and you’re heading in the wrong direction
Your career could also be heading in the wrong direction. When someone performs well, there is always the pressure of seeking out advancement. But, not everyone wants that level of responsibility. When you advance up the management ranks you become removed from the work you enjoyed to managing people doing the work you enjoyed. It’s a very different skill set that doesn’t come naturally to most people. At some point, you have to decide if you want to advance or not, or even if you want a traditional career path. For example, many people opt out of the traditional job progression in favor of portfolio careers or business ownership.

When you’re in the wrong environment, and you’re feeling out of place
This is a little harder to pinpoint, but it’s the cause for a lot of frustration at work. It has to do with a mismatch of values and personality. You might be an introvert who likes to get work done alone and in silence but are working in an environment where you’re expected to work on groups projects to get work done. Or, maybe you like to have a fun, open environment yet people are often working behind closed doors. Even harder is when you work in an environment where your cultural, religious or personal values are not valued and respected by your co-workers. All of those scenarios and many more often lead to misunderstandings.

If any of this describes your situation, it’s time to do something about it. Personally, after a series of bad jobs, I had the chance to go through a career assessment process. It was the best thing I could have done for me and my career. I already knew that I was a helper, and that was confirmed. I discovered that I need a lot of autonomy, independence, and challenge in my career. I wasn’t getting that in my previous jobs. I tuned in to my skills and found that many of them were not being used in meaningful ways. Much to my surprise, I also realized the profound importance of being in the right work environment. I always thought that I could do work I loved anywhere. I was wrong!

If you’re struggling now and want to know how to change your career situation, I suggest you also take some time to reflect on your current situation to figure out what’s out of sync. Go through a career assessment process so you can have a better understanding about how you want to use your skills, what role you want to have and the best environment for your personality. Career tools such as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Skillscan, and StrengthsQuest provide good insight. Of course, there are tons of books out there, too. You can work through the process on your own, but I think it’s helpful to get guidance and support from a career counselor or coach. When I went through my career assessment process, I had a career counselor and mentor who helped me sort through the reports and come up with an action plan.

What I’ve come to learn through my bad job experiences is the importance of doing work that is fulfilling, in the right place in alignment with my career vision. While it’s not always easy, you have to stay true to your goals and dreams. For me, when I’m working within the right circumstances, I can make the biggest impact, and I’m happier, overall. That realization inspired me to write my career guide, Fast Track Your Career: Three Steps for Finding Work You Love and create my career transition programs. By sharing my experiences and the steps I’ve taken to stay on the right career track, I’ve been able to live my career vision.

Reinventing Your Career: Job Search Expert Joe Turner Transforms Unemployment into Opportunity

Reinventing Your Career: Job Search Expert Joe Turner Transforms Unemployment into Opportunity

By Bobbi Miller-Moro

You may be one of millions of unemployed, or perhaps you’re experiencing the impact of unemployment in your family. The U.S. has witnessed surges of creativity and entrepreneurial spirit, yet we’re still not out of the woods.

The unemployment rate rose from 9.8 to 10.2 percent in October. The largest job losses were in construction, manufacturing, and retail trade. The unemployment rate rose to 10.2%, the highest rate since April 1983.

Old methods of job search, job interviewing and resume building have to be updated to reflect our new employment landscape. New strategies and innovative packaging of one’s self to a potential employer are more critical than ever before.

Viewing yourself from the perspective of a potential hiring manager, consider that employers took 2,127 mass layoff actions in October 2009 resulting in the separation of 217,182 workers, each action involving at least 50 jobs per employer. (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics)

These are the hard, cold facts.

Years ago, former recruiter, Joe Turner, had to personally jumpstart his own stalled career by developing and implementing innovative marketing techniques that ultimately launched bestselling books Paycheck 911, JobSearch Secrets Unlocked and the Job Search Guy’s Interview Prep Workbook. Turner draws from 15 years’ experience as a recruiter. He has witnessed both what has and absolutely hasn’t worked over the last decade in the employment arena. His hard earned experience has earned him the moniker, the “Job Search Guy”.

“Until this latest deep recession ends, job seekers today will remain unemployed and unsuccessful unless they change their strategies.”

-Joe Turner

Due to his unparalleled success as the ultimate resource for reinventing a successful job search strategy, Turner is redefining how to create and market your selling power to a potential employer. He offers 8 crucial obstacles to overcome to win a job offer. Joe, a Baby Boomer himself, mentors the Baby Boomer generation, a population of 78.2 million workers as of July 1, 2005. Turner and his partner, Sue Swenson, also a Baby Boomer, offer cutting edge strategies to win a job at any age. I reached out to Joe Turner to find out exactly how this all works.

Here is what Joe had to say.

Bobbi: In writing your book Paycheck 911, Don’t Panic…Power Your Job Search, what kind of person do you believe can benefit from reading it?

Joe: Anyone who is currently looking for a job in this confusing, hypercompetitive job market.

Bobbi: What does it take to transition from 15 years as a recruiter to become the source for educating people in finding jobs?

Joe: My talents evolved from 15 years spent as a recruiter who marketed candidates for highly desirable positions, plus counseling of candidates on how to best sell themselves with their resume and in their interviews, to win those jobs.

Bobbi: Who is Joe Turner?

Joe: Joe Turner is not only a former recruiter, but also a one-time failed job seeker who had to jumpstart his own stalled career by developing and implementing innovative, effective marketing techniques to win a new job during a prolonged recession at that time.

Bobbi: What will the future of job search look like ten years from now as a result of your contribution?

Joe: Job hunters will understand that they must be proactive in their search, that is, they cannot depend exclusively on passive job search that solely involves applying for jobs online. They will understand the necessity of being resourceful and creative in their approach to job search including understanding the need to market themselves like a product from the beginning through post job offer.

Bobbi: How is Joe Turner the answer to finding the job someone wants?

Joe: Job search has changed dramatically since the economic collapse of late 2008.

Jobs will be scarce and unemployment will most likely remain high (10%) through 2010. Outdated methods of attracting interest and winning a job

will no longer work. Winning a good job in this economy will take a

combination of skills, resources and marketing strategies that were rarely required until recently. Until this latest deep recession ends, job seekers today will remain unemployed and unsuccessful unless they change their strategies.

Bobbi: What part of the service is it that Job Search Guy is masterful at?

Joe: Building effective resumes that produce phone calls from employers, consulting on how to find the hidden jobs that are not advertised, and consulting on adapting winning interview techniques and strategies.

Bobbi: How does Job Search Guy save me from committing Job Search

Suicide?

Joe: There are 8 major obstacles job seekers face that work against them

to destroy their chances of getting an interview in today’s competitive market. Go to http://JobSearchGuy.com to receive my exclusive Job Search Suicide Report to discover all 8 obstacles and how to overcome them.

Bobbi: When does the customer get to see results after paying for the service?

Joe: The customer will start to benefit from the Job Search Guy’s services as soon as the individual begins to implement them. It obviously takes time for someone to activate the strategies and tactics suggested by the Job Search Guy, but some customers experience powerful results not long after they implement some changes to their overall job search strategy. I have scores of testimonials attesting to this fact.

Bobbi: What inspired you to make such a huge contribution to people over 50 years of age?

Joe: I wanted to give back to this special subset of job hunters in particular because I am a Boomer myself. I understand the added trauma and discrimination that this group experiences. It is my intention to deliver a number of resources and tips that are available to them, especially in this challenging job market.

Bobbi: Where are your services different from your competitors?

Joe: I don’t just talk the talk, I walk the walk. As a job search consultant and resume writing expert, I offer a whole system of winning strategies that have evolved from my unique perspective as a recruiter, marketer and former job hunter. These separate strengths and skill sets combine synergistically to assist frustrated job hunters to win a job in this tough economy.

Bobbi: What are the secrets to being successful in our career

life?

Joe: Time was when we could work in one career, often in one

company, for most of our lives. Those days are gone. According to a number of government and career resources, the average employee will most likely change careers at least three times during their work lives. It is imperative to update your industry and job skills and to be cognizant of changing conditions that can affect your employment, especially in the areas of new technology and government regulations. It is most important to be highly adaptable in this ever changing job market. Think beyond transferable skills. Think of yourself as a mini profit and loss center. How can you benefit a potential employer regardless of what industry a job might be in? You are more than a job title, transferable skills or a profession. You are a problem solver.

Bobbi: What makes the real difference in finding a job?

Joe: Marketing, marketing, marketing. Don’t sit back and wait for jobs to come to you. Look for new ways to put yourself in front of potential hiring managers or those who are currently in your targeted industry. Also, have an effective answer to their most important question, “What’s in it for me?”

Bobbi: If you were to give one piece of advice to a million

people who were out of work, what would it be?

Joe: Make yourself memorable with a personal brand statement. This is similar to an “elevator pitch”. This one statement, if written well, can get your resume read and generate interest from a potential hiring manager by sparking their desire to want to know more about you.

Bobbi: How easy is it to follow your books?

Joe: I’ve been out of work. I know what it’s like. Therefore, all of my books, including Paycheck 911, Job Search Secrets Unlocked and the Job Search Guy’s Interview Prep Workbook are written in a logical, step-by-step format in easy to understand language that the reader can apply as easily as possible.

Bobbi: What is possible for someone looking for work in these times?

Joe: Understand that your period of unemployment may stretch out much longer than during past periods of unemployment. Develop a multi-tiered approach to your job search including both an online and offline presence. Stay persistent and upbeat and consider every encounter with a stranger as a potential opportunity to network.

Bobbi: Why is your program the solution for those looking for jobs?

Joe: My “program” combines “high tech” with “high touch”. You’ll discover elements from the most successful direct marketing approaches applied to the technology of today.

This includes the advantages of the Internet and social networking sites. While some like to promote the latest search website or Internet tool, remember that job search may incorporate high tech, but the bottom line results come from paying particular attention to the high-touch aspects. You still need to have a conversation with a hiring authority before you win that job.

Bobbi: How will their investment in your product return a long-term profit?

Joe: Buying my books or consulting time alone will not win a job. Applying the techniques and strategies I discuss is what WILL make the difference to produce the payoff of a good job for those who persist and employ the necessary action plan.

Bobbi: How invested are you in the future of people you don’t know?

Joe: My business depends upon my reputation. If my product or services don’t provide measurable improvement in the lives of others, my business will fail, it’s that simple.

Bobbi: How important is a proper resume?

Joe: Your resume is the single most important marketing tool of your job search. Yet today, a resume has to accomplish more in less time. First, it has to get discovered, which is no easy feat considering numerous posted positions attract as many as 8500 resumes. Second, a resume has to get read. Today it’s fortunate if a resume gets 20 seconds of actual eyeball time before the reader makes the yes or no decision. Without an effective resume that gets found and sells you within 20 seconds, your resume will end up like most – passed over or lost in the shuffle.

Bobbi: Why did you choose to make a difference in people’s lives?

Joe: Job search is probably the toughest job you’ll ever have. It sure was for me. I spent 15 years working with candidates to help them win some of the best jobs of their careers. I know how it feels to be a part of that success. I also know the feeling of being out of work with no prospects when the bills need to be paid. That’s a frightening feeling. If I can help even a small percentage of job hunters win a good job, I know that I’ve accomplished something.

Bobbi: What role does your business partner play in the vision of the future?

Joe: My business partner, Sue Swenson, also a former recruiter, will continue to write books and articles with me that emphasize the anticipation of changes to the job market. She will encourage creative and resourceful adaptation and responses to the new job search landscape that reward those who hold a vision for themselves and can rise above the perceived limitations of the marketplace.

Career Colleges of America-career Education and Medical Schools

As the economy suffers, many people are interested in finding a new career. Sometimes this is a personal choice, and sometimes, like in the case of people who have lost their jobs or have gotten laid off, it is a necessity. There are certain types of careers which become at risk when the economy takes a turn for the worse. A career in the medical field is not one of those risks. If anything, a career in the medical field can be expected to increase in demand overtime, regardless of our economic situation. That is because the medical needs of the population are not necessarily driven by the status of the economy. As the population grows the need for highly trained and qualified medical workers will rise.

The Healthcare Job Outlook for 2008/2009 describes new job growth from 2006 – 2016 as excellent with over 3 million new jobs added for the period. As well, the projected salary increase is 22% compared to just 11% for other industries combined.

The Department of Labor shows similar findings, projecting that medical assistant jobs are expected to increase over 35 percent over the next decade, which is much faster than the average for all occupations. The health care industry is expanding as our population grows and ages, and as technology advances, so will the need for highly trained health care workers such as a surgical assistant medical assistant, vocational nurse, computerized office assist, and so on.

A career in the medical field has been referred to as “recession-proof.” Few industries can boast this kind of employment outlook. If you’ve been laid off in another work field, this should not be a concern for you in considering starting training in a medical career. It is highly unusual for medical layoffs to occur.

And if you are considering a career in the medical field, even if you have no medical training, or even a GED, it is best to get started right away, in order to take advantage of this growing industry. Medical career college courses are available for every type of lifestyle. You will receive hands on training, job placement assistance, and in some cases even financial aid. The career choices are nearly unlimited, from vocational nursing programs, to diagnostic medical sonographer training, to pharmacy technician careers, and so much more. Take your first step towards that new career today!

Career Colleges of America is a Southern California college that offers a vocational nursing program, as well as programs in medical assisting, paralegal, computerized accounting and more!

Career Coaching: Seven Mistakes to Avoid When Making a Big Career Change

Are you considering a big change in your career? Do you feel let down, bored, burned out? Maybe you think there is something bigger and more meaningful that you are meant to do. Perhaps your company downsized you into this predicament. Regardless of the reason, there are some common mistakes to avoid while you evaluate and select new career options. Avoid these pitfalls and you can stay motivated, keep your balance and move forward successfully.

Mistake #1 – Making Decisions in Haste

Tempted to just quit and wing it? Everyone is now and then, but unless you just can’t stand your current situation another day, resist! Instead, write down everything you hate about your current situation, then one by one, look at the most intolerable issues and see how you can turn each around to make it more tolerable for the present moment.

It is easy to get so excited about the future that you decide to forge ahead without a plan and hope everything naturally falls your way after that. It will require more energy to sustain your new career and make it work well for you than it will to identify and start it. It is better to come from a place of higher energy and stability than to start out already burned out or worried about how you will pay the bills. Consider seeking the help of a qualified career coach, life coach or career counselor to help you identify your next career path. An objective, trained third party can help you strategize and phase it in for the best results and the least amount of heartache.

Mistake #2 – Ignoring the Finances

“I can’t stand this any longer! I would rather eat dog food than put up with this another day!” Whether you are pursuing a new career voluntarily or involuntarily, you must pay the bills. Do pursue your dream. Do look for the career that brings out the best in you. If you have plenty of savings, good for you! Resist the temptation to go through it and be left without. If you have a dream, by all means hang on to it! But if it won’t realistically get off the ground for three years, find another way to earn a living in the meantime. The need for income is a reality you cannot ignore.

Mistake #3 – Filling Your Head with Negative Stuff

What do you read? What do you view on television or the Internet? With whom do you spend free time? When you’re looking at making big life and career changes, you need lots of positive energy around you. If you spend time with negative people or fill your mind with anything that isn’t useful, guess what? It fills you with negative energy. Instead, surround yourself with people and things that give you positive energy and encouragement. Read books that motivate and encourage you. Go places that inspire you. Do everything you can to be what you want to be like after you land the next great career opportunity, and you will be more likely to attract it into your life!

Mistake #4 – Getting Bogged Down by Decisions

If you’re an intelligent person who has enjoyed any measure of success, chances are there are a lot of different choices you could make in your next big life or career change. Clients often tell me they are overwhelmed by all of the thoughts and ideas that keep running through their minds. And as the overwhelm sets in, it is very easy to just shut down. As we work together, I remind clients when making tough decisions to ask themselves, “Is this going to move me forward?” If the answer is yes, proceed. If the answer is no, either revise the decision or drop it entirely.

Mistake #5 – Not Having a Plan

There are two reasons this is important. First, life is unpredictable and it is dangerous to relinquish security before the next career arrangement is lined up. Second, changing careers is a lot like dating. You are always more desirable when you are unavailable. You are more attractive to a prospective employer if you are already working. And if you have already lost your job either voluntarily or involuntarily, it is even more important to have a plan so that you are then more likely to achieve it. If you see success, you will be successful. (Conversely, if you don’t have a plan, how will you know when you’ve succeeded?)

Mistake #6 – Ending your Preparation Too Soon

All I can say here is, prepare, prepare, prepare. If you’re looking at several possibilities, don’t immediately drop one when another looks good. Think about all of the big tests you have taken in life (college entrance exams, finals, certification exams) and how you prepared for those. Did you study way in advance and take a big, long break before taking the test? Or were you still reading the material as you walked in the door on test day, wondering if you could still be better prepared? When you’re embarking on a new career or life change, give it all of your available energy, skills and attention. If you have a goal in mind, resist relaxing when you think you almost have it. Prepare and stay sharp right up until the day you start. This will help keep you from losing confidence at the last minute.

Mistake #7 – Getting Discouraged Too Easily

Does this happen to you when you face hurdles in the midst of your goal? Instead of giving in to the pain, pay attention to what specifically is making you uncomfortable and make adjustments to get you through. For example, if you’re in career transition and you find that it is painful to go through the tedium of making phone calls, sending resumes, going on interviews where the competition is tough, etc., find the formula that gives you a break without stopping the process. Try devoting an hour or two each morning to these tasks and letting it go for the rest of the day, or only making a certain number of phone calls or interview appointments per week so that when you’re finished, you can feel good about giving yourself some time off. Don’t stop. Adjust.

Remember, a career change is a life change. You didn’t arrive at your current level of education and experience overnight, and don’t be disappointed if you don’t immediately uncover “the thing” you want to do next. Allow yourself time and space to explore and make an educated decision. Get the help you need along the way (i.e., career coach, career counselor) to help you do it strategically, not emotionally. If you avoid these mistakes you are much more likely to end up in a new career that complements and fulfills your life.

The Career Makeover: 7 Steps to Achieving Your Goals

Makeovers on television shows and in magazines are enticing for women the world over. Of course the reason they are so popular, is because the idea of getting a fresh start in life is a golden key we have all dreamt about at one time or another. No matter what their lives are like, everyone has something they wish could be different – their home, their body, their friends, and even their career.

Career makeovers are not a new concept and if you think about it, making over your career will automatically set a chain reaction in motion that will affect all aspects of your life, particularly those that are unsatisfactory. If you’ve ever changed jobs or industries, worked with a recruiter, drafted a new resume or pursued additional education to increase your job prospects or opportunities, you’ve already taken steps to improve or “make over” your career.

Here are some ideas which can take your career makeover to a whole new level!

1. Look inside yourself. How do you perceive yourself? Are you confident? Do you like yourself? Are you proud of your accomplishments? What is your attitude to life, on working, on the value that you bring to your job? How do you feel about your career? Do you feel in control of your future? Working on your “inner self” is of critical importance when it comes to creating a career makeover. If your internal thoughts are not consistent with the actions that you need to take, you’ll continually feel a sense of disconnect. Others will feel it too. All change starts on the inside. If you need support in this area, consider counseling or coaching, whichever is most appropriate for your situation. Until the inner issues are resolved or healed, it can be very challenging to take the necessary steps that lead to a fulfilling career.

2. Get balanced. A key component of effectively managing your career starts with managing your time efficiently. Do you keep your work life separate from your home life? Do you take work home in the evenings or weekends? Do you talk about work ALL THE TIME? Do you take time to recharge your batteries so that you feel refreshed? This is probably one of the most difficult areas when it comes to career makeovers. It takes a lot of courage to “draw the line” when it comes to balancing your life. Many women feel that if they don’t give everything to their job, then they won’t have a job, yet, the opposite is actually true. If you’re working for a company which does not allow you to set boundaries around your time, you WILL burn out. Before this happens it is probably best that you start looking for a new position. It’s a difficult choice to make, but ultimately it’s up to you to set boundaries around what types of treatment you will accept from others – including your employer. If you can’t achieve work/life balance in your current job, you will never be able to give it your best, simply because you will not be at your best which in turn will affect your future career prospects.

3. Get your relationships in check. They say birds of a feather flock together. Are your friends dragging you down? ( I was told my friends were holding me back by a naturopath when I was in my early 20’s I was VERY angry with him and protective of my friends – but a year later when I had taken a grip of my life and moved on, I realized he had been completely right!) Is your network of friends and associates supportive of you and your goals, or are they constantly telling you that your dreams are too lofty? Do they drag you into their gossip or do they inspire you with thoughtful conversation? In essence your ambition can be affected by the people around you and because of this your personal and professional relationships will have a tremendous influence on your career success. Therefore, to get your relationships in check, evaluate your friendships and acquaintances. It might be time to start gently letting go of some of the relationships that aren’t serving you, which will allow you to fill the empty spaces with new friends who will support you. Make sure you’re forging relationships with the people who see your value, and surround yourself with mentors who are helpful in assisting you to move forward.

4. Begin with a vision. Having an idea of where you want to go is one of the most important steps in your career makeover. Until you know where you want to be or what you want to have, it’s impossible to decide on the correct steps to get you there. How do you envision your ideal life? What type of job would make you happy? What brings you the most joy? What type of position would you like to see yourself working in 5 years time? Give yourself permission to think about what you really want, dare to dream a little. Remember what seems impossible today is only so because you haven’t had the opportunity to break the journey from here to there down into manageable chunks – now you are ready to start working on your career makeover.

5. Be the change. Once you have a vision of what you think you might want. It’s now time to assess where you are now. What are your strengths and your weaknesses? What skills do you have? Which ones will you need in order to achieve your career vision? You need to know where you are now versus where you want to be in the future. The rest is about managing the “gap” in between. Here is where the career makeover really takes place and this is the secret to making it possible…

6. Start at the end and work backwards. Imagine you have your dream job and are living your dream life. What was the final step you had to take to make this all possible, now what was the step before that? Work this process through until you arrive back at where you are today. Now you are aware of these steps, you know what you have to do to achieve your goals in manageable chunks. Your next course of action is to develop a plan for achieving these goals thereby giving each part of the process a timeline.

7. Now hone your skills. One of the most obvious ways to create a career makeover is to work on your skills. Whether you go back to school to earn an advanced degree or take training classes here and there, anything that you can do to improve yourself can benefit your career. Learn more about your industry; attend conferences where you can keep abreast of the latest trends. Network with possible mentors. Buy books written by leaders in your field. Read industry periodicals and other materials that deep your knowledge. Check with your human resources department to find out what types of internal training opportunities are available. Take advantage of your company’s tuition reimbursement programs. Continuing your education is essential no matter how you do it. Studying will not be a chore. If you are doing work you love you will be passionate about absorbing as much information about your field as you can!

And finally plan for the future.
No matter who you are or whom you know, you career will have its ups and downs. These days it’s unrealistic to think you’ll have a job for life. You might be transferred, demoted, or get a new boss that you don’t enjoy. You could even lose your job because of a downturn in your industry. These are realities of work life today. To lessen the possibility of your becoming an economic statistic it’s always a good idea to have options. This means you need to think about your exit plan. What would you do if you wanted to leave, or lost your job for whatever reason? Even the people who are happy in their jobs today should have an exit strategy, so take my advice and start working on it now. Don’t wait until it’s too late and you’re in panic mode.

In conclusion, always remember, no matter what career or life choices you make, ALL women need a strategic career plan. Your career makeover is ultimately your responsibility. You are the master of your life and it’s up to you to make a plan. Once you have a clear plan, take the steps that lead you to fulfilling your ultimate vision. One powerful way of helping you stay on track is by working with a coach who can help you make the transition more quickly. A good coach gives you support you need, helps you to stay focused and on track. With proper guidance, you will quickly find yourself achieving your career goals.

Get a Part-Time Job Now for Your Future Career after Graduation ? Let me tell you why

For college students, gaining work experience with a part time job while in school is a smart idea. When you graduate and begin your job search, your work experience will make you stand out from other job applicants.

A part time job is the most practical type of job for young people. Part time jobs can be found in a variety of ways. You can look for jobs online. Try looking for good part-time jobs in classified ads is also a smart choice. Or you can simply get out and pound the pavement in your neighborhood.

You Do Need a Good Resume for a Part-Time Job

Create a resume for your part time job search. Even if you don’t have previous work experience, you can include your academic achievements. Highlight your strengths and think of any experience you have that will make you stand out.

Dress for a Full-Time Job even You are Applying for Part-Time Job

When you apply for a job, make sure you dress appropriately. This will show you are sincere and will make a good employee. Your fingernails and hair should be well groomed. Business casual is an acceptable way to dress for an interview for most part time jobs. For example, khaki pants and a polo shirt for men or a skirt and polo shirt for women are good outfits for an interview. Stick with a pair of conservative shoes. If you’re in the habit of wearing lots of jewelry, pare it down to the minimum.

Don’t Forget to Make a Follow-up Call after a Part-Time Job Interview

After your interview, it’s acceptable to call the employer to find out if you got the job. Every time you go on an interview, strive to make a connection.

Don’t be over confident during your interview for a part time job, and don’t take it personally if you don’t get the job. There’s a lot of competition out there, especially for part time jobs in college towns. If you don’t get one job, just move on and look for another.

During financial hard times, you may be one of the retrenched employees or unemployed graduates. You might be eager to look for new jobs in order to survive. If you have been involved in the field of construction or engineering for a period of time, you may consider obtaining the certification as a qualified home inspector. This is because during economy crisis, this profession has been considered as one of the most ideal part time jobs in the employment market. It allows you to work on your own and you can set your own schedule. You are able to generate extra income for yourself as well as your family.

In order to start this career, you are required to attend the formal training courses to learn the necessary skills on evaluating gas lines, roof, door, heating and plumbing system. You are also taught to inspect the overall property structure and produce proper written reports. During economy downturn, you may have the thinking in mind whether it is really worthwhile for you to invest some cost on these training courses. In fact, you don’t need to worry at all. Your small investment in home inspection training is really worth. It is proven by the statistics from US Department of Labor. It is clearly stated that the annual income of this profession ranges from USD 45,000 to USD 65,000. Isn’t it attractive? If you take it as your part time career, you can easily get at least USD 20,000.

Home inspector is indeed a convenient side job to supplement your current income. Once you have established a wide network in this particular industry, you may switch this part time job to be a full time business as this profession allows you to be your own boss and you are able to generate lucrative income.

It’s a crunch time for graduating seniors entering the workforce. It’s a tough time for graduates to find a fitful job nowadays.
The tough economy has worsened some students concerning for their career plans. Someone said that “It’s scary for the simple fact you don’t know how many openings a place may have or if you’re going to be everything that that company needs”.
The employment rate for graduates last year was less than 70% and the rising number seeking jobs is challenging the Chinese government at a time when the current economic crisis will surely exacerbate the problem. This issue is much wore this year. Employment in China has plummeted. Fewer positions are available for graduates and graduate employment will be limited in this year and for the next few years. Although many companies cannot find qualified employees working in specific technical fields, many Chinese graduates have majored in accounting, Chinese language and literature, law and computer science, whereas jobs in these fields are limited. It is likely close to 2 million graduates will be hideously unemployment- many of whom are postgraduates, even doctoral graduates.
Several factors are responsible for the dire situation facing graduates and the massive expansion of enrolments since 1999 is one issue. In 1999, the government stimulated domestic demand by increasing higher education enrolments to answer negative influence by the Asian financial crisis that began in 1997. Now the graduates with great amount of education investment become the poor victim of the increasing education enrolments.
The modernization of China’s economy and the opening of its markets have brought wealth, but at the cost of unemployment for many. Because of the rat race in such a society with stagnant economic, some students only with senior middle school diploma have to be a young work in factories in order to be one of the technically skilled workers. They think that they’d better earn money early than to be a would-be unemployment man with high diploma or experienced major skills. People take their jobs more seriously and are very loyal to their employers in such a competitive society with strong impact by this financial crisis.
Fewer positions are available for graduates and graduate employment will be limited in this year and for the next few years. What it will going on about the job issue of Chinese graduates?
Unemployed workers seem to be staying with friends in local apartments. Unemployed graduates find jobs such as workers in factories and salesmen, or they even polish shoes for others like so illiterate one. “I just want a job — no demands on salary” What a helpless claim! A report said that a girl in job fair kneel to one of the recruiter in Guangdong. Graduates choose suicide as their ending for life is not a new news now. What a cruel fact for our graduates!
Measures such as expanding postgraduate enrolments cannot solve the problem of graduate unemployment as it can only offer some relief or postpone the current employment pressure. Indeed, in recent years, employment of master degree graduates has become problematic. How it will go on if unemployed graduates become graduate student three years later?

Web design courses teach how to design and develop websites. For many the thought of designing a website is an intimidating one. However, various web design courses available today teach the basics of website designing in a very simple and easy to follow manner.

Types Of Courses

Certain courses are designed for aspiring web design professionals. These are individuals who have an eye for art and layout and wish to make a career out of designing websites.

Other simple courses target the average individual who just wants to make a website for personal interest.

What Do Web Design Courses Teach?

In both type of courses the basics of HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) and web design are taught. It is important that your website looks attractive and a visitor is encouraged to follow links and click on other pages of your site. This is very essential if you wish to attract advertisements to your website and also if you are trying to sell a product through your site.

A website design course will teach you how to do all of this. Some of the main subjects which feature on the curriculum include:

- Organization and planning the layout of the website. Cluttered sites full of information in hard to read font and font size put off the reader.
- Planning color schemes, use of frames and graphics. It will provide information on the advantages and disadvantages of using background colors, the pros and cons of graphics, the use of moving objects such as banners, etc.
- Basics of publishing on the internet
- Basics of computer graphics and design
- Effective navigation
- Issues relating to web security and administration
- Training on how to create links between documents
- Information on how to create tables and forms
- Training on site management
- Training in specific web design technologies and software
- Training in action scripting software
- Training on how to increase speed of your site
- Information on how to assist visitors with completing tasks such as filling up forms on the website

Where Can You Find A Web Design Course?

Given that these courses teach individuals how to design websites, the obvious answer to this question is “online”. All web design courses are by no means similar. While you search for an appropriate course which will meet your needs, you will notice that the website will prompt you for details. You will be asked about the level of a course you want to undertake such as a certificate or a degree course.

How Do These Online Courses Work?

Once you sign up for a course, your progress through the program is similar to any other online learning program. You will have tutorials, class assignments and interactive sessions with your tutors. You will receive feedback and will need to complete projects and finally appear for the certificate examination.

A good web design course can open up a number of exciting and challenging career opportunities for you.

The recent shake up in the world economy was a wakeup call for everyone. People who thought the economy couldn’t have been better, learned a hard lesson: The economy can and does fall when it is dependent on a few. A few months down the line, the ripple effects of this “mayhem” are still felt in many homes, families and companies. Many professionals were let go, “voluntarily retired”, or outrightly laid off. Companies such as Panasonic closed down over 200 plants in a short 3 months, while Citigroup, the parent company of Citibank and other subsidiaries has plans to lay off at least five thousand of its workers before the end of the 3rd quarter.

For some people, the damage done was so irreparable they had to resort selling their properties, cars, assets, withdrawing their kids from schools and even suicide as a last option. The present situation has got a lot of young adults and youths thinking more in terms of financially stable jobs that also has the potential of a lifelong career. One of these careers is the pharmacy technician.

While many people were being laid off their jobs in the banking and finance sectors, more pharmacy technicians were being hired to meet the rising demand for more hands and professionals in the health care sector. According to various medical news sources, the demand for pharmacy technicians is gradually increasing as more people fall sick nowadays compared to the ’70s and ’80s. Estimated surveys and statistics also show that as more people fall ill and more hands are needed, the demand for their services is bound to increase over the next 10 years.

For many people, the profession of the pharmacy technician is often placed on the same pedestal as a pharmacist. This however, is not true. Pharmacy technicians are like assistants to the pharmacists. They work alongside the pharmacist functioning and work as record keepers, aides to the pharmacists, getting patient records, and ensure make sure that all prescriptions are verified before delivery to the patients, keep and preserve medical files or data and can help in the application of the right labels to all prescriptions tendered.

Pharmacy technicians can work in the groceries, nursing homes, pharmacy shops, retails pharmacy shops, online pharmacies, hospitals, drug producing factories and everywhere the services of pharmacists are required. While they earn less than pharmacists, their annual salaries vary between twenty five thousand dollars a year to fifty thousand dollars ($25000 – $50000). And recent trends show that the salaries will increase with time as the demand for their services increase too.

Becoming a pharmacy technician entails hard work and discipline. Various schools offer the course both offline and online. Training under a pharmacist can get any interested individual a job. However, most employers prefer some form of formal education. Thus creating two groups of pharmacy technicians: Certified and uncertified. An individual can become certified by writing any of the following examinations:

1. ExCPT (Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians). OR
2. PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board)

This newsletter goes out to about 500 people each month. Many of you may question why this topic would be of interest since you have a good job and appear to be pretty safe and stable in it. However, according to recent studies 400 of the 500 people reading this will have a new job in the next five years. So this is a very relevant topic for most people.

I am currently working with several people as they go through a career transition (translation – out of work and looking for a job). As we explore options and help them focus on the future, there are some interesting facts about the job market that everyone should be aware of. In my generation, a job was defined as working for a large company, like IBM, Dupont, or Ford. Our vision was that we could get a nice salary, great benefits, a comfortable retirement and all we had to do was work hard and progress steadily up the corporate ladder.

Here are some realities of the current job market:

- The average person entering the work force today will have between 10 and 14 jobs by the time they are age 39. This is driven by a rapidly changing business environment that sees companies come and go much more frequently than ever in the past.

- Only 2.6 percent of jobs in the U.S. are with companies that employ more than 99 people. A person who equates a job with working for a large organization is severely limiting options in the future.

- The top ten jobs that will be in demand in 2010 did not exist in 2004. Technology, world markets, and population demographics are creating new jobs every day. The problem is finding people with the right skills and personal characteristics to handle the new jobs.

So to prepare for your next career transition, here are some things you can do now to be prepared:

1. Build a network. Only 12 percent of positions that are available are advertised. Most are filled through word-of-mouth and networking. Get to know people, particularly those who own their own businesses. Show genuine interest in their business.

I never thought I would say this, but take advantage of social networking web sites like Facebook or Twitter to meet additional people. If you don’t believe in the power of this, it took 30 years for radio to reach 50 million people, 20 years for TV to reach 50 million people, and 2 years for Facebook to reach 50 million people.

2. Upgrade your skills constantly. You have to be technologically savvy in today’s world. If you are in a profession that has declining demand, then it may be time to consider getting additional education through local technical colleges or even through online training programs.

3. Get healthy. The number of jobs that provide full health care benefits is declining and will continue to do so. There is a good chance that your next job will not have as good of benefits as the one you left. The best way to lower you medical costs is to live a healthy life style.

4. Explore self employment opportunities. A recent estimate said that around 60 percent of households in the U.S. have some form of business operating out of the home. While on the surface self employment may seem to be the least secure form of employment, it may actually be the best way to achieve long term stability and security. Having been self employed for ten years, there is no way that I could see myself back in a corporate job.

Being self employed doesn’t necessarily mean that you will make more money and spend less time at work. In reality you will probably make less money and spend more time, but the rewards of being in control of your own destiny can outweigh these.

5. Get your finances house in order. The reason that many people get stressed during times of career transition is that they have failed to plan for an interruption in income and benefits. They are one missed paycheck away from financial ruin. Make a plan that assumes that you will miss three months pay in the next three years. What would you do? It is amazing how much money we routinely spend on stuff that we could do without during a true crunch.

As you read this, I hope that you are one of the hundred that won’t have to face a career transition, but is it worth taking the chance? Time spent preparing now will lessen the impact if it actually happens.

For years, I’ve been a regular in Aruba, but I never tried an Aruba car rental until my last vacation. Honestly, I never even left my resort the first time I went. The nightclubs and casino were enough for me. The “red carpet” treatment left me feeling dazzled and I kept coming back for more.

The next year, I decided to go shopping in Oranjestad. The city is small, and it wasn’t far from my resort. I caught a shuttle there and then got around on my own two feet. When I got there, I went straight to downtown on the main thoroughfare Lloyd G. Smith Blvd.

There were a ton of restaurants to choose from. The resorts really cater to the American tourist crowd, but Oranjestad is all about the local culture. It’s a crossroads of Dutch, Spanish, English, and Creole. Try some local faire. Aruban cuisine offers recipes mixed with rum, fresh seafood, coconut, goat, and papaya.

Oranjestad is the place to go to feel how this island really lives. The shopping is what got me. Oranjestad has two ports that offer high-end shopping and local handcrafts and t-shirts. This is when I swore next year I’d bet an Aruba car rental. I’m never going to walk around in the sun with all those bags again.

When I got my car rental next year, we went back into Oranjestad to shop. However, on the way there we decided to drive around a bit. Aruba is only six miles wide at the widest point and 20 miles long. We had been on the pristine white beaches of the southwest coast for so long that I had no idea the northeast was filled with a scuba diving, natural bridges, and beautiful National Parks everywhere.

Next year, we decided to explore Aruba even more with a 4×4 Aruba car rental that will allow access to some of the dirt roads and trails. My Aruba car rental opened my mind to a world of culture and fun.

If you are new to Toronto, looking for a job or have recently been laid off, Toronto recruiters are the people to meet. Having a wide portfolio of experience linking potential clients with job seekers, all at a nominal fee. After an initial consultation, either over the telephone, via email or in person, they will assess your specific job needs, and ascertain whether you qualify to work in Toronto or not. Most organizations offer jobs to Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents only, and others have second language, typically French, requirements, Once the recruiter assesses whether you qualify for the main categories, they will inquire about your educational background, previous experience, and job description, references, expected salary and so on. They may also do some research and get back to you typically after a few days to present a portfolio of potential employers whose needs match with yours. After you select a few, they will make the appointments with them, and if all goes well, a certain commission (either a fixed percentage of the salary or another pre-decided amount) is paid to the recruiter. The advantage of hiring the services of a professional recruiter is that they have done their homework and have access to the latest on the job circuit, current trends, which areas are currently seeking employers and which are in recession. They provide in-depth, accurate and useful information for both job seekers and those requiring employees for their firms. They are a one-stop shop for all job needs.

The Pharmaceutical industry is growing in leaps and bounds. Most people can say that they’ve viewed a commercial about a new drug that’s been developed or spent time talking with a pharmacy tech at their local drug store. With earnings averaging in the mid to high $100K annual range, and an above average growth rate expected for careers, there are many opportunities to work in this field if this interests you. Here’s how you can find the right education path you need to obtain pharmacist jobs.

A pharmacist job generally requires a good deal of education, starting with a Bachelor’s degree in Science from an accredited college or university. In 1992, a majority of the nation’s schools voted to create a Doctorate program in pharmaceutical studies, so that is generally the standard that professional pharmacists adhere to in their educational pursuits. So, on average, Pharmacists must get the same number of years of education as a Physician or Lawyer before they can take a state board exam and become a professional working pharmacist. That’s a total of six years of post-secondary education.

In general, the education that pharmacists must have consists of studies in Pharmacology (the study of drugs), Chemistry, Clinical Care and Administration. In addition, pharmacists must have a solid background in mathematics and general biological science. Excellent writing and communications skills are vital to success in pharmacy as are knowledge of literature, history, government and social studies. Pharmacy is unique in that it combines the people aspect of care to the field of science, so being able to manage people and their needs is an important skill for any pharmacist to have.

In addition to the regular college classes they take, many pharmacists choose to work in either a pharmacy technician program as part of their learning process. There are multiple opportunities for pharmacy students to get all or part of their educational expenses paid for while they are in school if they become employed by a major pharmaceutical company or retailer. There is a big need for skilled pharmacists so companies are often ready to help with the costs of education to recruit them after graduation.

Once all college or university courses have been completed, the next step in the process is to take a state licensing exam. This is similar to a doctor or legal professional taking their state board exams. At the successful completion of the testing process, the pharmacy student or technician may begin working as a professional pharmacist. Each year, pharmacists are required to retrain or get additional coursework to keep their licenses and knowledge base up to date.

Becoming a pharmacist is a rewarding career choice for individuals who enjoy helping others manage their medical care via drugs and medicine treatments. This allows them to work with patient care, but stay out of the clinical setting. By following the above tips, you can be well on your way to getting an education in pharmacy too.

Economic downturn has got everyone giving a second thought to their careers. Those who have experienced a layoff are stepping forward with the help of research about what are the jobs that don’t get affected by recessions? Others, who are still in jobs, are preparing to equip themselves with the necessary skills for these recession proof jobs and still others who are already blessed with such jobs are thanking god for placing them there. So, what are these so called ‘recession proof jobs’? Time has prepared a list of 150 Best Recession-Proof Jobs and here are the details of top recession proof jobs

Health Care: Hospitals/health care is such a field that will never go out of demand. Whether a doctor, nurse, or diagnostic lab technicians- they will be well placed any time. After all, health needs attention- recession or not! However, some of the sectors in health care industry too can get slightly affected by the recessions. For example, dentists can see more impact of recession with people putting off getting dental care.

Computer Systems Analysts: Almost all the organizations today depend on computer and information technology to operate their business efficiently. Computer systems analysts use their technological knowledge effectively to incorporate new technologies into their existing systems. Not only system analyst, in fact, all computer jobs are more or less safer in the times of economic meltdown.

Sales and marketing: Laying off people from sales team doesn’t seem to be the strategy of any company. Sales jobs are one of the safest jobs when it comes to recession. After all generating new business in tough times is more than essential to survive.

Government Jobs: No country can afford to loose its administrative personnel at any time, leave alone recession. Government jobs, anyhow, are considered the most stable of jobs.

Accounting Jobs: There’s only one situation when accounting jobs are in danger zone- when a company closes down. In every other situation, including recession, all companies need to keep finances and taxes in shape (howsoever bad is the condition of finance).

Here are some tips for a job interview that will help you come out of the process on top. When you walk into a job interview, the product you are selling is YOU. In order to successfully sell yourself, you must market your personal brand. That is, you must build a reputation that qualifies you, and only you, to successfully fulfill the job requirements. The job interview is your time to shine – your time to sell yourself and your abilities. In order to do that, you must have faith in your personal brand. That’s what separates you from the rest of the candidates for your desired position. If you can do so successfully, you will be well on your way to landing the job of your dreams.

The successful job interview process begins when you accept the interview, and ends when the employer decides to hire you. The more you are able to communicate professionalism with personality, distinction and skill, the better your chance of getting the job.

15 Sure-fire Ways to a Successful Job Interview:

Before the interview:

Use the 3 P’s – Plan, Prepare, and Practice.

1. Prepare for the interview; research the company and prepare questions based on your research.

2. Do mock interviews in order to prepare for all questions, especially uncomfortable ones.

3. Dress professionally even if the company dress code is business casual.

For some reason a lot of people fail to act on an obvious fact: A business card (or personal calling card) is just as important as a resume. Why do I say this? Because if you are doing real business or hoping to connect with people in a meaningful way, you need to connect with them in the real world. A business card helps you do that.

Here are three big reasons for you to get a card if you don’t have one:

You want people to call you or at least e-mail you. How are they going to do that if you don’t have a card handy?

A business card tells your prospect or potential employer who you are and what you do. If they need what you have, and your card is handy in their wallet, who do you think they’re going to call? They’re going to call you before they start Googling. People appreciate the personal touch believe it or not.

Having your card ready to go gives you a boost of confidence. It makes you feel like a professional, even if you’re not working.

Three basic design principles:

Put your contact information on the card, not all of it, just where you want to be contacted. If you do not want new contacts to call your cell phone, leave that information out. Less is actually more. I put only my website, city, and business telephone on my card. If they want to e-mail me, they can do it through the contact form on my website, and I tell that to everyone I meet. The last thing I want is more cell phone calls or to be put on more spam lists.

State exactly what you do on your card. If you design websites, say so. Do not leave anything to chance. Be direct. You can give yourself a fun title, but make sure the prospect knows exactly what you do. Never assume that they’ll figure it out.

Your card is a piece of you. Do not do it yourself. For under $30, you can get a thousand professionally offset-printed cards on nice paper with your own logo. You can design these right on the internet in minutes. A few days later, you will have your cards.

When you get your cards, get out there and talk to a lot of people, and hand a card to everyone you talk to. You’ll get better results than you might imagine!

Transcription Services are creating a huge employment opportunity worldwide. For perspective, a 2006 Market Intelligence Service report of National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) estimates that at least 120-150 companies are engaged in medical transcription there. India has an estimated.
18,000 transcriptionists today, but the number is expected to swell to 50,000 by 2010. Similar acceleration is projected in the Philippines where the number of MTs is pegged to climb from 7,000 to 25,000 by 2010. The growth in transcription is outstripping the ability of the U.S. based professionals to meet the demand. The Volumes continue to climb despite introduction of new technologies from time to time. An estimate by the U.S. Departmant of Labor suggested that the U.S. healthcare industry will need 90,000 additional medical record professionals by 2012.A blended approach is worked out where the there are two or more countries involved depending on the needs clients.

Nevertheless the essentials of Transcription job which are the quality people, educational excellence, information security and technological innovation cannot be compromised at any cost. Regardless of venue, educated and credentialed staff with the right set of skills and training must be available 24×7.

Such employers do find language and dialect barriers. These issues must be faced whether working within different U.S. regions or overseas. As in the U.S., now in other countries too, the female workers work from home as it guarantees a certain level of lifestyle flexibility. At the same time the security is also kept in mind, whereby the employers use digital certificates and encryption (digital signature) and give assurance to their clients that they are connected to a valid server and files are being accessed by authorized individuals only.

Transcription is one field which actually pays very well and may be used by us for a proper paying home based job. It may be used by students or retired persons as a part time job. Transcription Services are provided by many companies and organizations that employ the above. They employ subcontractors and many, whose number is rising, outsource the transcription work.

Generally one who wants to get transcription checks about the quality of employees, the number of hours covered the IT infrastructure one has in place. If there is a U.S. component to the work force. In this digital age companies may have transcriptionists based in more than one country.

The Medical Transcription industry has created innumerable number of jobs in the Transcription World, the virtual word. If you undergo training as a Medical Transcritionist or a course of Medical Transcription then the chances of being employed by the transcription companies and the online transcription providers are very bright. However, the employers always give preference to crendiateled and experienced candidates.

Another field in which the transcription providers are creating unbelieanle employment is Legal Transcription. There is a huge demand of audio digital typing transcription services for immigration judges, solicitors, film and television production companies, entrepreneurs, legal companies and professionals, tribunals, university academic and market research, focus groups, conferences, consultancies and businesses.

The latest trend is Transcription Service providers hiring free-lance transcriptionists who transcribe in high standards maintaining strict confidentiality. The work is allotted to them and they produce high quality work to the budget fixed. They are in no way less skillful than any other employers of the Transcription providers. They adhere to the standard of transcription and work in co-ordination with the specific requirements and demands of the clients. The turn around time is decided mutually by the provider and the transcriptionists. Some of the companies even allow them to email the final transcription to the clients!

Ajay Prasad is a pioneer in the field of affordable transcription with accuracy.

How often do we hear people that have careers complain about never doing the job they were trained to do? They did not realize when they entered into their chosen field that there would be many aspects to the job.

The same premise applies with the video game artist. Before really researching the subject many would be artists think it is just a matter of sitting down and designing a game and then putting it into production and it is ready to play. It does not quite work that way. If it did there would probably be even more games on the market than there already are. Video game artists have such a variety of jobs to do that many of these jobs have somewhat evolved into becoming specialties.

A good example of this is the concept artist. In other words the idea maker. It is his job to be creative and dream up the various characters and the types of atmosphere it will demand.. Once it is put to paper it is scanned into the computer and it is cleaned up using a software program with these types of capabilities such as Photoshop for example. Now we are still at the rough stage and color now has to be introduced.

This is where the texture artist now fulfills his roll. It is his job to create the texture for the colors, and then it moves onto the 3D model builder. So where did the role of the video game artist end? Actually, it did not; the video game artist may have been doing any one, several or all of the duties as outlined.

To become a concept artist you need to be yourself, you cannot really take training to be one. Simply being because it is based on creativity. No one can teach you to be creative, but they can teach you to develop your natural creativity. This is usually done by practice and more practice. You can never reach a plateau where you can say you have mastered it all, it just does not happen with the arts. Another thing to remember is doing not be a copier, be a creator. It does not take much creativity to sit down and copy another’s work.

Be observant, watch things how they move, animals, humans and even the elements. By doing this you will perfect your skills in proper proportions, and skeletal structure. The setting you are going to place your characters in is almost as important as the characters themselves. You are setting the atmosphere, which in turn sets the theme.
