A Student?s Guide to Getting Part Time Jobs/student Jobs When at University or College

What is a student’s biggest worry, other than passing their degree? Well ask most students this and I’ll bet the majority of them will say that money is their biggest worry as a student. So as a student, what do you do about this? Turn into an alcoholic… well some might I suppose, but most students will try to find part time jobs, student jobs or even summer jobs to give them that extra bit of income that they need.

So in light of these thoughts, I decided to go and investigate what it is like, how easy it is, how difficult it is for a student to get a part time job. As a young person myself I know plenty of students who have had part time jobs in Leeds, part time jobs in Cumbria, part time jobs in Newcastle and many other places, so I had plenty of research subjects to prey on.

My first port of call was to go on a night out with some of the Northumbria University student jobseekers, which basically translates as a night out where you hardly spend a penny. I’d had plenty of previous experience in this field, but when you are out with a purpose to learn things you never knew about a lifestyle that you are so used to and involved in, it felt pretty different. On my first bit of prey, I dropped into a conversation the question ‘How do you cope for money when you’re in full time education, have rent and bills to pay and more things like nights out and food?’ The response I got wasn’t what I expected, they simply said they don’t cope at times, they have their student loans and they get a weekly allowance from their parents, but it’s still not enough.

By pure coincidence, the next thing I knew I was standing at a bar on Newcastle quayside chatting to a person who was trying to recruit students to take up holiday jobs which can lead to graduate jobs. I wasn’t drunk at this time, so yes it was a real funny coincidence. This person was talking about how it’s so difficult to recruit uni students due to their already hectic schedules. I then actually introduced one of my student friends to this person and to my ultimate satisfaction, I found that less than a couple of hours into this night out, I’d already got one of my friends a part time student job.

We then proceeded to a strange little establishment that I can only best describe as, well… a strange little establishment. I never even knew this place existed, yet there I was partying on down on a dance floor with a man with a withered arm and a woman on what appeared to be a dog lead – they were doing this strange hop along dance move. It was good entertainment to be fair and it seemed to have all the students’ enthusiasm and attention, so it was all good fun. Well in this strange little establishment I started talking to the woman who to my astonishment actually was on a dog lead (fashion accessory i guess), and she was saying about her daughter who had went off to Uni in Leeds and had managed to find part time jobs in Leeds that were relevant to her course which ironically was fashion. This gave me food for thought indeed, so the night went from strength to strength and then before i knew it i was being told it was time to call it a night. So as we all slumped back home in the bright light of the early morning with professionals on their way to work looking at us as if we were some sort of unique and wild species, all I could think about was what could be done to give students a better chance of finding student jobs, holiday jobs, summer jobs, and part time jobs.

The next morning, or should I say afternoon, I went online and started searching for a service that could help with what I am trying to find. Then after a few minutes of browsing I came across a website called www.ukstudentjobs.com, whose motto was ‘Discover new jobs to fit in with your student life’ BINGO! I’d found what I was looking for, a very colourful and artistic little corner of the internet which was dedicated to helping students within the UK to find part time jobs, summer jobs and even graduate jobs. So I would suggest that if you’re a student reading this, give UKstudentjobs.com a go because not only is it an ideal service, the help and support from their support team is second to none.

This newsletter goes out to about 500 people each month. Many of you may question why this topic would be of interest since you have a good job and appear to be pretty safe and stable in it. However, according to recent studies 400 of the 500 people reading this will have a new job in the next five years. So this is a very relevant topic for most people.

I am currently working with several people as they go through a career transition (translation – out of work and looking for a job). As we explore options and help them focus on the future, there are some interesting facts about the job market that everyone should be aware of. In my generation, a job was defined as working for a large company, like IBM, Dupont, or Ford. Our vision was that we could get a nice salary, great benefits, a comfortable retirement and all we had to do was work hard and progress steadily up the corporate ladder.

Here are some realities of the current job market:

- The average person entering the work force today will have between 10 and 14 jobs by the time they are age 39. This is driven by a rapidly changing business environment that sees companies come and go much more frequently than ever in the past.

- Only 2.6 percent of jobs in the U.S. are with companies that employ more than 99 people. A person who equates a job with working for a large organization is severely limiting options in the future.

- The top ten jobs that will be in demand in 2010 did not exist in 2004. Technology, world markets, and population demographics are creating new jobs every day. The problem is finding people with the right skills and personal characteristics to handle the new jobs.

So to prepare for your next career transition, here are some things you can do now to be prepared:

1. Build a network. Only 12 percent of positions that are available are advertised. Most are filled through word-of-mouth and networking. Get to know people, particularly those who own their own businesses. Show genuine interest in their business.

I never thought I would say this, but take advantage of social networking web sites like Facebook or Twitter to meet additional people. If you don’t believe in the power of this, it took 30 years for radio to reach 50 million people, 20 years for TV to reach 50 million people, and 2 years for Facebook to reach 50 million people.

2. Upgrade your skills constantly. You have to be technologically savvy in today’s world. If you are in a profession that has declining demand, then it may be time to consider getting additional education through local technical colleges or even through online training programs.

3. Get healthy. The number of jobs that provide full health care benefits is declining and will continue to do so. There is a good chance that your next job will not have as good of benefits as the one you left. The best way to lower you medical costs is to live a healthy life style.

4. Explore self employment opportunities. A recent estimate said that around 60 percent of households in the U.S. have some form of business operating out of the home. While on the surface self employment may seem to be the least secure form of employment, it may actually be the best way to achieve long term stability and security. Having been self employed for ten years, there is no way that I could see myself back in a corporate job.

Being self employed doesn’t necessarily mean that you will make more money and spend less time at work. In reality you will probably make less money and spend more time, but the rewards of being in control of your own destiny can outweigh these.

5. Get your finances house in order. The reason that many people get stressed during times of career transition is that they have failed to plan for an interruption in income and benefits. They are one missed paycheck away from financial ruin. Make a plan that assumes that you will miss three months pay in the next three years. What would you do? It is amazing how much money we routinely spend on stuff that we could do without during a true crunch.

As you read this, I hope that you are one of the hundred that won’t have to face a career transition, but is it worth taking the chance? Time spent preparing now will lessen the impact if it actually happens.

The Pharmaceutical industry is growing in leaps and bounds. Most people can say that they’ve viewed a commercial about a new drug that’s been developed or spent time talking with a pharmacy tech at their local drug store. With earnings averaging in the mid to high $100K annual range, and an above average growth rate expected for careers, there are many opportunities to work in this field if this interests you. Here’s how you can find the right education path you need to obtain pharmacist jobs.

A pharmacist job generally requires a good deal of education, starting with a Bachelor’s degree in Science from an accredited college or university. In 1992, a majority of the nation’s schools voted to create a Doctorate program in pharmaceutical studies, so that is generally the standard that professional pharmacists adhere to in their educational pursuits. So, on average, Pharmacists must get the same number of years of education as a Physician or Lawyer before they can take a state board exam and become a professional working pharmacist. That’s a total of six years of post-secondary education.

In general, the education that pharmacists must have consists of studies in Pharmacology (the study of drugs), Chemistry, Clinical Care and Administration. In addition, pharmacists must have a solid background in mathematics and general biological science. Excellent writing and communications skills are vital to success in pharmacy as are knowledge of literature, history, government and social studies. Pharmacy is unique in that it combines the people aspect of care to the field of science, so being able to manage people and their needs is an important skill for any pharmacist to have.

In addition to the regular college classes they take, many pharmacists choose to work in either a pharmacy technician program as part of their learning process. There are multiple opportunities for pharmacy students to get all or part of their educational expenses paid for while they are in school if they become employed by a major pharmaceutical company or retailer. There is a big need for skilled pharmacists so companies are often ready to help with the costs of education to recruit them after graduation.

Once all college or university courses have been completed, the next step in the process is to take a state licensing exam. This is similar to a doctor or legal professional taking their state board exams. At the successful completion of the testing process, the pharmacy student or technician may begin working as a professional pharmacist. Each year, pharmacists are required to retrain or get additional coursework to keep their licenses and knowledge base up to date.

Becoming a pharmacist is a rewarding career choice for individuals who enjoy helping others manage their medical care via drugs and medicine treatments. This allows them to work with patient care, but stay out of the clinical setting. By following the above tips, you can be well on your way to getting an education in pharmacy too.

You can attend a trade school, you can attend a community college, you have the option of joining the military to learn to become a plumber. you can locate a plumber that requires a journey to teach and train. Many people chose to go to a trade school to learn how to become a plumber. This option is very straight forward, you know how long it will take, you can calculate how much it will cost and you can plan accordingly. If you decide to attend a community college you will certainly know how long it will take to complete your plumber training courses but this option is likely to take longer than a trade school but you are likely to receive a more rounded education. Community colleges tend to offer a very favorable credit hour rate and may be a less expensive option than a trade school. Since a community college will take longer to complete than a trade school you need to calculate total education costs and not just a semester or month’s period of time.

The military is another very good option to receive plumber training. The armed forces will provide complete training and give you the opportunity to have lots of practical experience under the tutorship of a very experienced master plumber. Under most circumstances you will be able to receive your plumber’s license once you get out of the military. It is also worth considering that you not only get the experience and training you get paid for your time, your medical is covered and you can likely see a part of the country or world that you wish to see.

For people who are looking forward to a journalism career, there are so many things that they can do to move an inch higher to their dream. For young people who were already to determine in themselves that a journalism career is really the profession that they would want to pursue, they can start gaining all they need to be qualified for the job.

Young ones should be arming themselves with the necessary skills in becoming a journalist such as writing. To do this, they should practice writing articles more often and monitor their improvement. To be more knowledgeable about the craft, they should also enroll in various writing workshops where the resource speakers are the ones who have been in the industry long enough to share their first-hand experiences. Aside from meeting famous writers and journalists, attending writing workshops can also help you improve your craft and will introduce you more into the technicalities of writing such as styles, structures and the like.

To widen your vocabulary, it is also a must that you read the newspaper regularly. Aside from current events and news, reading feature articles in magazines and even novels can help you be familiar with certain writing styles that can help you in creating your own in the future.

When you get to college, it is best to take up a journalism degree in a reputable school. Although this may seem minor, it would matter when credentials would be asked when you apply to a certain publication. Even if you think that you have the best writing skills in town, some employers are looking at track record to determine if you are really fit for the job.

While in journalism in school, you will be trained in all aspects of the field. Aside from training your writing skills, the school will open you up to other possibilities of the field such as the business side and other fields that may help you decide which field you are really suited to. Here, you will also have the opportunity to meet the “masters” in the field and you will also be able to use the school publication as the training ground for your future journalism career.

Getting the break

Some people are lucky enough to have a journalism career while still in school. These are rare cases and if you did not have that chance, you don’t have to feel bad about it. Probably, it is not yet your time. Instead of sulking into depression for not getting the position who have been aspiring for, it is best to create your own opportunity by learning how to market one’s self, coming up with a strong portfolio, and know when is the best time to break into the field.

1. Selling one’s self. This is a very important aspect because employers and editors would not believe you if you just say that you are good. During an interview for a position, try to mention some of your good qualities that can be assets to the company such as resourcefulness, creativity, and productivity.

2. Be willing to start small. If you are a fresh graduate, don’t expect that you will get the position you want right away. Since the journalism field is competitive, it is best if you will have mindset of starting small. Those who are enjoying their journalism career nowadays are the ones who underwent through the ladder of success.

More and more people are getting into journalism career because they feel that this is one profession that would give them freedom in terms of work schedule, office attires, and even in speaking their minds.

If you are one of those people who are looking forward into a journalism career, it is best if—as early as—now, you would start qualifying yourself for the position. The best thing that you need to do is really know if the journalism career is really what you want to do. It is best to understand the industry very well first before you finally decide on it.

You can do this by conducting a simple research on how it is like to have a journalism career. You can find many articles—some of these are even written by prominent figures in the newspaper industry—and ask yourself if you are willing to take this path. Once you have decided, you now have to earn the credentials needed for it or that can help you to achieve that goal of having a journalism career.

To earn the right credentials that can help you a take a notch higher in realizing your dream, it is ideal to enroll to a journalism school. This is because enrolling in a course that is directly related to it can help you understand the industry better and would also help you to be properly equipped for it.

What to consider

Today, there hundreds of journalism colleges and universities that offer various programs that are related to a journalism career. For you not to waste time studying in a school that won’t really help you once you have finished, it is best to be meticulous in choosing the right school before you finally enter it.

1. Choose the one that will fit your needs and personal preference. This is very important in choosing a journalism school because it will help you realize what it is that you are about to enter. You need to know what are your needs in terms of skills training and find out if the school can cater that need. You should also take time to consider if you really like the school and its programs not only because of the name or the popularity but the structure of the programs offered as well.

2. Choose a school that would allow you to pick your own professors. In regular schools or courses, the school usually decides who is the professor who will teach you. But since a journalism course is all about hands-on experience, it is best to choose a school that would give you freedom to choose who will be the ones who will be teaching you. This is very important because you will be able to get the first hand accounts from them.

If you don’t have an idea who are the professors to choose, you can do a research on the faculty of the school. Look for the ones who you think are the best reference persons to you. Many of the faculty in journalism schools nowadays are into academics and they are not even media practitioners. Although they can be beneficial in honing your skills and knowledge, it will be better if you choose those professors that have experience in working as a journalist so he or she can help you start with your own journalism career.

These are tough times for job market and the global economic slowdown is eating up thousands of jobs each week leaving many jobless. Some industries like IT, manufacturing, real estate, financial services etc have been specially hit. Companies are cutting jobs and reorganizing their workforce to control costs. Those companies that are not laying off have either frozen new inductions or pay hikes. Hence, there is very less new job creation in most of the industries that goes for both – jobs in India and abroad. This is an especially tough time for freshers looking for jobs. However, it is not like there are no new jobs up for grabs. Companies are hiring on need basis though they may not be advertising job vacancies to cut costs.

So, how does one land a job during recession? Many employees are staying put at their jobs, no matter how bad or unsatisfactory it is. While some other smart jobseekers are exploring smart job search ways to get job offers even in this tough time. Job search has become tougher than ever right now but it is not impossible to find a job. For those who have been laid off, or those who are fresh out of college and looking for a job, there is still glimmer of hope. Jobs are not as easy to come by but that does not mean that there are no jobs at all. Now, more than ever, there is more competition per job so it will pay to be smarter in job search.

Firstly, keep disappointment at bay. You are not the only one out there on whom bad times have befallen. There are thousands there with similar fate. Young jobseekers too need not get too cynical about the job market. Negative thoughts are natural but they will only end up harming you. So, keep giving yourself motivation and encouragement that this is just a temporary phase. It will surely pass. All you need to do is keep your confidence and positivism intact. It is these things that will help you sail through. Don’t let insecurity bog you down.

If you are out of job currently, your first aim should be getting a job and keep getting a steady pay Cheque. You must explore new sectors and jobs. This just might be the turning point in your career. Be open in your attitude and try to get any decent job. Remember, it would any day be better than sitting idle. Do something that interests you or look at pursuing any of your hobbies as a career. It will only add value to your resume and help you market yourself better when the job market opens up. And when you get an interview call, prepare well for it in advance. There would definitely be fierce competition so you have to make sure that you convert an interview call into a job offer.

If you are currently working but your company has started pruning its workforce, may be it’s time for you to rethink your career strategy. You never know when the axe will fall on you too. Firstly, start doing adequate savings. There is nothing better than a monetary cushion when you are out of work. It will give you the required time and confidence to look for a new job. Don’t waste money and ask your family to save too. Network more than ever and be mindful of job opportunities in any company. Basically, don’t be caught unaware and unprepared if you are laid off. Planning your career this way will help you in long run and make your job search easier too.

Call centers are nothing less than a revolution in India. The young brigade of India, fresh out of college and raring to go has got a fabulous opportunity to begin career at a call center. Some students join it merely to start earning some pocket money. There are numerous call center jobs for fresh graduates and even experienced professionals. These call centers could either be of international companies or even of domestic companies. Nearly a decade ago, the culture of call centers invaded the Indian scene and has completely changed the way youngsters look at jobs now.

Call centers are of two types: Inbound and Outbound. The inbound customers are those that handle customer queries and take calls. Many international companies have based their call centers for customer services in India. These are voice-based services. Selected candidates for these call center jobs are given voice modulation training, thorough knowledge of the product and also a sense of the culture of the area of whose customers they are dealing with. In these call centers, 24×7 calls are received from customers who are looking for any sort of information or want to lodge a complaint or place an order or anything that they want to say.

The outbound call centers are those that make calls to people. Generally, these are sales calls aimed at generating leads and getting in more business. The employees at outbound call centers are required to understand their products and services well and pitch them to the customers. Again, these are voice-based services where the employees are required to make calls. Extensive training is imparted to these call center workers to be able to drive better sales by understanding the needs of the customer well.

Jobs at call centers are advertised through newspapers, job sites and on company sites. The best part about call center jobs is that they readily hire fresh graduates. These graduates are trained under the supervision of trainers and seniors. The call centers offer high starting salaries and are the compensation paid is the main attraction for those working here. Call centers also offer many motivational activities to their employees. All this is done to retain talent as attrition rate is quite high in this industry. Students do not consider call centers as long-term careers but there are many who have stayed on with this industry to carve out long-term careers. They acquire managerial posts and start leading teams after three-four years of experience.

A typical call center is like a service center that has appropriate telecom facilities and access to Internet. Call centers provide both web-based and voice based information and support to domestic or international customers. Call centers provide a huge spectrum of services and are useful in all industries such as banking, credit collections, hotel/airline reservations manufacturing, customer service, order desk, catalogue sales, security, pharmaceuticals, utilities, market research, technical queries, food service, etc.

This career is best suited to freshers looking to start their career or retired professionals or even housewives. The field gives good growth opportunities to those working in here. Professionals from the tech field, HR, marketing can find good job opportunities at call centers. Though there are no particular educational qualifications required to join a call center, generally, graduates with good command over the language are preferred. For call centers servicing clients in eth western world, candidates must possess a good command over the English language. They should also have excellent communication skills, basic knowledge of computers, sharp presence of mind, ability to talk confidently in unfamiliar situations and patience. Sometimes, there are difficult customers to handle on phone and a call center executive must retain his cool temperament to deal with such situations.

There are irregular shifts in call centers. Call centers that service clients in the US have main workload at night so there are mandatory night shifts. However, there are many perks that come with call center jobs. Most call centers provide free meals and transport facilities to their employees. There are also other incentives and career growth opportunities that call centers promise to their executives. Thus, there are both negative and positive points of working in a call center. There are call centers located across the country but Gurgaon, Noida, Hyderabad and Bangalore have become the hub of call

Centers in India.

Are you a fresher just passed out of university or university and looking jobs for freshers, it is a heavy time for your to land up in your first job. As the world economies is in down turn across the world, firms around the globe cut cost and as part of cost control cutting jobs, hold income increments and perks.

Many companies stop the hiring process or there’s each small hiring. As there is very few opening for freshers, only few colleges across the nation may be able to place their scholars in jobs where as most of the university across the nation fail to draw in corporations to their campuses. Companies that already visited schools campuses in past decline to visit schools to sign up freshers citing the economy melting and company policy to not recruit freshers or company policy to hold on recruitment of freshers for jobs.

Freshers who already given offer letters by companies in campus hiring are waiting to get call from corporations to join for months. So in this market scenario, freshers need new approach towards jobs for freshers. And there’s need for change in their big dream about beginning their career with important people in the company world and with hand full of salary.

When you search jobs for freshers, do not look in to income look in to the job role offered to you and career the job fetches you in the near future. Many freshers have the attitude of comparing their income package with the income packages offered to the university seniors in the campus hiring as well as in the campus. Don’t do such comparison as those times are different from current economy situation.

In this current job marketplace situation you want a different approach towards jobs for freshers and your expectancy toward your first job. As there’s less jobs for freshers in massive corporations which often use to hire fair number of freshers, the freshers have to look in to other avenue like tiny firms, start up and other new layer who offer you fresher job which challenging job roles and various job responsibility to start your career and eventually the experience that you gained in that job will help to get a dream job in the future.

The field of criminal justice is no longer a male-dominated industry. In fact, it is now a booming and nearly recession-proof field that is constantly seeking highly-trained individuals of both gender. The following are descriptions of the many rewarding career options the field of criminal justice has to offer for women.

Law Enforcement:

Opportunities for women exist in law enforcement at local, county, state and federal levels. Whether you want to work patrol, corrections, security or become specialized in some area, law enforcement may be the place for you. State positions are available in the area of highway patrol or the division of criminal intelligence. Federal positions for law enforcement vary within each agency. Such positions are available in the Federal Bureau of Investigations; Border Patrol; Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearm; Secret Service and Homeland Security.

Civilian Support:

Every agency of criminal justice uses civilian support personnel and many of these positions are held by women. Report takers, dispatchers, records specialists, computer information support personnel and radio technicians are the predominate positions held by civilian support.

Court Positions:

Lawyers, victim advocates, domestic violence advocates, paralegals, court reporters and support staff positions are other viable options for women in criminal justice. There are investigative positions for both prosecutors and defense attorneys as well. These positions generally require some prior investigative experience.

Corrections

The field of corrections offers many advantages to women as well. Female correctional officers are needed in any institution that houses females. These can also range from adult to juvenile facilities and maximum to minimum security facilities.

Civilian Positions:

Private security grows each day as more and more agencies are filling in where law enforcement can no longer reach. Large corporations and hospitals often have security/loss prevention positions that offer better hours and advancement opportunities than law enforcement.

Forensic Science

Criminalistics is a field within criminal justice that will continue to grow as technology grows. This field involves advanced crime scene investigating. Arson, handwriting, ballistics, DNA, drug screening and fibers are only a few of the many areas of specialties within the forensic science fields.

When looking at a career in the criminal justice field, women are only as limited as their thinking. Find your passion and follow it, as gender should never stop you from any career you choose.

The Demand

The demand for preschool, kindergarten, elementary, middle and secondary school teachers is projected to grow at an average pace. While the demand for teachers who specialize in math, science and bilingual education is expected to sore.

The Statistics

Employment of school teachers is expected to grow by 12 percent between 2006 and 2016, approximately the average projected growth for all occupations. This growth will create 479,000 new teaching positions.

Through 2016, fast-growing states such as Nevada, Arizona, Texas and Georgia will experience the largest enrollment increases. Enrollment in the Midwest is expected to hold relatively steady, while enrollment the Northeast is expected to decline.

Teachers who are geographically mobile and who obtain licenses in more than one subject should have a distinct advantage in finding a job.

The number of teachers employed is dependent on expenditures for education and on the enactment of legislation to increase the quality and scope of public education. At the federal level, there has been a large increase in funding for education, particularly for the hiring of qualified teachers in lower income areas.

Also, some states are instituting programs to improve early childhood education, such as offering full day kindergarten and universal preschool. These programs, along with projected higher enrollment growth for preschool age children, will create many new jobs for preschool teachers.

Job Prospects

Job opportunities for teachers over the next 10 years will vary from good to excellent, depending on the locality, grade level and subject taught. Most job openings will result from the need to replace the large number of teachers who are expected to retire from 2006 to 2016.

Do you want to stand out among all of the other job applicants vying for the same part time job that you are going for?

Tenacity is a key component to you part time job search as a teenager. Employers like to hire teens who “want” the job.

All teens want to make extra money to buy the latest iphone, go to the movies, party, the latest clothes fashion, etc… but what will make you stand out compared to the other teens who want the same job?

Tenacity. Your level of tenacity will be based on how hungry you are for tha particular job.

What’s the main way to show your potential employer that you really really “want” the job?

How do you show your potential employer that you are the best person out of all other applicants that will complete his current staff or crew?

Before we answer that, you should know that the potential employer sees hundreds, yes hundreds, of applications each month so you have to be the one to stand out among the rest.

Here’s the answer. It’s all in your behavior.

What does that mean? It simply means that that the person who shows the most enthusiasm and persistence with a positive attitude and willing to take a proactive approach is usually the winner.

Think about it this way, if you were the employer and wanted to hire a good team member to fit in with the rest of your crew and you had to choose from 100 people that filled out an application, but only one of those people filled out several job applications over a few weeks and constantly came in to follow up with the hiring person, would this potential candidate stand out to you?

You better believe it!

There’s a good old saying that goes “The harder I work, the luckier I get.”

Basically, it means that the people who continue to work hard at trying to achieve their goals are always opening more doors of opportunity. In the end, it looks as if they were lucky, but the truth of the matter is that they worked hard at putting themselves in the right place at the right time.

In this case, a teenager trying to get a part time job will open more opportunities by being tenacious at filling out online part-time McDonalds job application, the KFC job application, or the online Burger King job application, etc… and being persistent at following up with the hiring manager, all the while staying proactive and positive that they WILL be the chosen one!

Day-by-day, humans are becoming more and more dependent on electricity. New technological innovations bring more and more electrical appliances. It will not be wrong to say that humans will go back to their Stone Age, without electricity. In such a situation an electrician can have a lucrative career as an electrician. But for that, one must complete a proper electrical course. Most of the countries are currently facing a shortage of qualified electrician. So the demand for an electrical course is growing fast.

Before joining any electrical course, one has to take an overview of the prerequisites of becoming a good electrician. An electrical course is a technical course and in many situations involves arithmetical calculations. So an aspirant electrician must have good mathematical calculations. An electrician must have a good vision. This is very important as electrician has to work with different colors of wires.

An eye checkup done before joining an electrical course is better, if you have any eye site problems. Work of an electrician includes a lot of physical work like climbing walls, high polls, and roofs. An aspirant electrician must see that he/she doesn’t have any major health problems. Some serious health problem like high blood pressure or neurological disorders can make work of an electrician more dangerous. Electricians are a very important part of our society. Work of an electrician comes with a big social responsibility. An electrical course teaches all the safety methods and techniques to be practiced while doing the job. An electrician has to keep all those things in mind while doing their job. A faulty work done by them may even cause public casualty.

There are several methods to start an electrical course. Although a high educational degree is not a prerequisite to start an electrical course, good mathematical skills are necessary. There are quite a few institutes which offer online electrical courses. An online electrical course will not appropriate for someone who wants to take up this profession full time. It is ideal for people doing just for the sake of knowledge or personal use. All those who are working somewhere else, and don’t have the time to join a class room course can also enroll for an online electrical course.

But if you are looking at this profession as a serious career option, then you need to join a full time dedicated electrical course. There are many institutes and colleges offering electrical courses. Before enrolling for an electrical course, the reputation and affiliation of that college must be taken into consideration. While enrolling for an electrical course, you need to choose you field of specialization. Specialization in one of the areas is important, because many companies hire only electricians specializing in particular area. Some people start their career with just an apprenticeship under a senior electrician.

After completion of electrical course, an electrician has many job opportunities. Electrician are recruited by big companies at construction sites, factories, hospitals, airports, malls, government offices, and many such public or commercial places.

Till some time back, creativity could not really help a person draw a monthly salary but these days scenario is completely different. Now one can easily give a vent to his / her creativity and take home a handsome pay packet. The booming animation market has opened newer avenues for all those who have a thing for painting and drawing.

The art of animation, a creative field which was earlier dominated by the West, has now India running as one of the most serious competitors. While cartoons are illustrations of a single diagram with varied meanings and expressions, animation is a rapid display of 2-D or 3-D images to create an illusion of motion.

In India, there are several career institutes offering Animation and Cartoon Courses. These career courses involve exhaustive career training for the job requirements in the field of animation and cartoons.

For those who are looking for graduation courses in animation and cartoons, there are many colleges offering both diploma and degree courses. But for those looking for post graduate courses, options are very rare. Among the colleges that have been mentioned above, the Industrial Design Centers in Mumbai and Guwahati offer post-graduate degree courses.

Basic qualification required: All those who want to pursue a cartoon and animation course, there is a basic minimum qualification required. Like for applying for a diploma course in animation, one should have passed the 12th standard examination from any recognized board with a minimum of 45% marks. For those who are looking for a bachelor’s degree program, the same eligibility criterion is relevant, while for the PG program, one must have a bachelor’s degree from any university or institute.

Benefits of these courses: As one can see that the animation & multimedia industry is growing rapidly, pursuing a course in these fields can definitely push your career. Moreover, if you have a flair for drawing or creating characters, a course in this field would help satisfy your creative spirits.

Prospects of these courses in India:

Of late, animation in India has witnessed a remarkable boom with Indian animations catering to the needs of several private and public sectors and indigenously produced animated films all over the world.

There are various T.V programs, advertisements / commercials and computer games that demand a huge quantity of manpower from the Indian market. Besides that, animation is used for creating special effects in films or in web entertainment programs. Thus, the scope for aspiring students of animation is vast in the context of the rising Indian animation market.

Scope of animation students in foreign countries: Though cartoons and animations don’t really seem to be products meant for outsourcing, yet Indian cartoonists and animators have begun working for foreign companies. Undoubtedly, Indian companies are moving ahead of their South East Asian counterparts in this field. The western countries are also favoring India over any other country as far as animation is concerned because of the following reasons:

    * Good command over English speaking skills

    * Cost to company (CTC) advantage

Interior designing is one of the most sought-after fashion designing courses available today. Those who want to pursue a career in Interior designing can take up these courses to learn developing design solutions that are safe, functional, attractive and meet the needs of the space user. The primary objective of the interior design courses in India is to equip the students with creative awareness, attitude, imagination and technical knowledge required for this profession.

These courses would also teach them other necessary managerial skills of finding a client, retaining and managing them. Thus a successful career in interior designing hinges on the creative, imaginative and artistic capability of the designers and also on their managerial skills.

The most important factor however, is that this course must be pursued in reputed institutes.

Eligibility for Interior Design Course

Several kinds of courses area available in Interior Design such as B.Sc. (Interior Design), Professional Diploma in Furniture & Interior Design, Master Of Interior Architecture And Design and Foundation Diploma in Design.

The minimum qualification for most of the courses in interior design is a pass at the 10+2 level. You should also have a knack for colors and shapes as well as a sense of style and comfort.

Interior Design Courses Career Prospects

The fast integrating world, the associated expansion of the market economy and growing consumerism has thrown open a lucrative market for the interior designers. As they are entrusted with the task of not only making the interiors attractive but also utilizing the available space to the maximum, the interior designers are in high demand in the offices and the houses.

Successful completion of the interior design courses in India can open up opportunities for self-employment. As the market is ready to absorb more and more interior designers, sky is the limit for those with creative potential. One can also be employed as theater and set designers or exhibition designer after completing these courses in interior designing.

As interior designing courses offer exciting career options, on this page, we have tried to list the Interior design institutes and colleges India.

Interior design is becoming an increasingly viable career option for creative individuals who have a flair for home and office design and decor. However, there’s more to it than just the inclination — there’s also the ability. To be a good interior designer you need several skills you need — some inbuilt and some acquired. Some of the inherent skills you should possess are:

    * Excellent design sense

    * Good time management skills

    * Good coordination skills

    * Good team building skills

    * Eye for detail

    * Keen observation

    * Patience

The skills that need to be acquired can be gained by enrolling for a course.

How can I become an interior designer?

It is one thing to be interested in interior design, but a whole different game when it comes to getting trained to be one. There are many who have done professional courses and have achieved a great deal of success in the business. Then there are other who have simply jumped into the industry with no training, learnt the tricks of the trade along they way and made a successful career for themselves.

Like all professions, a course merely gives you a primer to what the profession can encompass. “Being a successful interior designer has no magic formula. One needs to be patient and really work hard in the initial years to pick up tricks of the trade,” feels Sarma, “and master the practicalities of the trade. In this trade, you may create a fantastic design on paper, but if you do not know how to execute it, or how much it is going to cost?it will spell trouble.”

Jain adds her advice on career advancement, “Interior designing is a hectic and tedious profession. It involves both working at sites and in the office. The person should be able to handle the pressure from clients in meeting deadlines and fitting the client’s requirements in to his/ her budget.”

If you think that you have to sacrifice enjoyment and excitement for a top paying job, you’ve got it all wrong. To be quite honest, some of the highest paying careers in the world are those that are the most rewarding – in more ways than one.

Many people have the wrong notion that having one of the highest paying careers means being cooped up in a corporate office staring at numbers and vice-versa.

Although there are corporate jobs that pay exceedingly well, there are also a great number of wonderful job opportunities that will make you feel like you’re not even at work! Want to find out what these opportunities are? Read on!

1) Airline Pilots

A lot of boys (and some girls) grow up wanting to become an airline pilot. However, not a lot of them actually pursue the career. Somewhere along the way, they forego such seemingly distant dreams for something closer to home. Another obstacle is that it’s quite expensive to study and train for this type of career.

However, airline pilots have one of the highest paying careers in the world. There are also a multitude of benefits that come with flying a plane. The travel perks for you and your family certainly counts as one of those advantages. It’s also easy to map out your career once you start on this path. The higher your rank, the better paid you will be.

2) Podiatrists

A medical career is definitely one of the highest paying careers in the world. However, becoming a doctor or a surgeon takes a whole lot of time and money. Not everyone can spend years studying medicine, although the return on investment is almost guaranteed.

Still, not all branches of medicine are that way. You can opt to become a podiatrist – a doctor who deals with injured feet and ankles. Usually, you must have at least three years of college before you can get into a school of podiatry. Still, it’s considerably a shorter term than if you pursue general practice. It might not be a very glamorous occupation, but the pay is good and your hours are usually your own.

3) Accountants

Accountants are also among the highest paid careers out there. While you do have to deal with numbers, it’s more about understanding the business rather than real Math equations.

This job is also non-gender specific, which makes it an ideal career prospect for anybody. Not to mention, there is a shortage of certified accountants in the world. If you’re good at what you do, companies will run after you and offer you skyrocketing salaries.

Even if you have one of the highest paying careers in the world, keep in mind that not everything is about money. If you’re not happy with your job, it won’t be long before you wear yourself out. Love what you do and be grateful for what you already have.

ESL Teaching Jobs Lead to Overseas Adventures

I’ve always wanted to travel the world and visit exotic places, but since I’m just a couple years out of college, I really don’t have the funds to do so right now. I’m still paying off student loans and trying to save a little money for a rainy day, but it’s tough to do with the entry-level salary that I’m currently on. So when a friend of mine announced that he was going to move to China to teach English for a year, I asked him a bunch of questions about ESL teaching jobs and decided I needed to have a similar adventure.

I did some more research online about ESL teaching jobs around the world, just to make sure this was something I could get into. I was encouraged to learn that no special certification or training is necessary to teach English as a Second Language; instead, most prospective employers simply require that the applicant have a Bachelor’s degree (any major is ok), a valid passport, and is a native English speaker. Since I qualify on all those points, I began looking through listings of ESL teaching jobs in earnest.

Asian countries seem to have the most ESL teaching jobs available, with China, South Korea, Japan, and Thailand leading the way. But the demand for English teachers is also picking up in places like Spain, the Czech Republic, Russia, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and all throughout South America. It would be amazing to spend a year or more in any of those exotic destinations — all while getting paid good money to teach English for an average of 30 hours a week. Plus, I’d be able to use my weekends and other free time to explore these fabulous countries… Are ESL teaching jobs the best-kept secret out there, or what!

Of course, the prospect of packing up my whole life and moving halfway across the world is a bit scary, but my research into ESL teaching jobs showed me that most employers go out of their way to make the transition as easy as possible. For example, most positions come with a subsidized housing provision so I don’t have to worry about looking for a place to stay. In addition, the employer helps with things like setting up the Internet in my apartment, opening a local bank account, and filing the right visa paperwork for employment eligibility. And there will always be other Americans, Canadians, Aussies, and Brits to hobnob with, so I shouldn’t get too homesick!

I’ve already submitted my resume to a couple of schools offering ESL teaching jobs in China and Japan, as well as one in Peru and one in Spain and one in the UAE. I’m confident that I’ll be hired by at least one of these institutions, and will be on my way to an exciting overseas adventure very soon. I better start packing now!

by Mary Bush

If you are looking for a new career path and have experience in architecture or assembly, you may want to think about finding a new architecture design job. Architecture has certainly come a long way in design and function over recent years, and it is a field that continues to grow and expand into new areas. As with most industries and fields, technology has truly taken the reigns and opened the door to a whole new world of possibilities based on the use of computers.

CAD programs and other architectural software programs are becoming mainstream, both in education and in the workplace, when it comes to architectural and assembly jobs. There has been a lot of growth in the field and many companies are looking for skilled and qualified professionals to run these computer drafting programs. What kind of outlook does the market hold for assembly jobs and architecture jobs? Surprisingly, quite a bit! With all of the technological advances, some people tend to think that assembly jobs in particular are going to be taken over by computers or robotics, but for the most part, the majority of positions require a human to operate the computers.

In addition to the necessity for humans to operate the programs, there has also been a lot of opportunity opening up in the way of engineering and design to develop new programs and improve the existing ones that are being used.

If you are living in or moving to the south, employers in South Carolina rely on professionals in all different facets of industries to perform architecture jobs and assembly jobs. There are a lot of companies that are hiring students out of college who have completed a technology degree to fill these South Carolina jobs; even more encouraging is the fact that the demand is ongoing. Many employers are willing to train workers who have experience in other areas of drafting or assembly line positions to transform their abilities into new design and development positions.

Most of these new jobs require a lot of computer training, but certainly can be complemented by experience in the field. If you are in a construction or production field and feel that you are capable of learning some basic architecture programs and computer design programs, you should think about getting the training needed and joining forces with an evolving field that will take you to new heights in your career.

Have you ever noticed that just about every job advertisement for a full time job specifies that you must have experience? How do you get experience if you can get a job? One way of getting the experience you need to land a permanent position is to apply for temporary jobs that require your particular qualifications. When the job is finished you have the experience and another reference to add to your resume. A temporary job is also a good opportunity for you to see if you like working in a specific environment and to add to your repertoire of skills.

Working in a temporary job is also the perfect way to earn money if you don want to commit to full time employment when you are attending college or if you want a second job to help you save up some money or to pay expenses. These jobs are available in both skilled and unskilled areas. For some jobs, you will need to have a college education and for others you may only need to have a high school education or less.

Many employers that hire temporary employees also offer benefits, which is a plus. These benefits could include holiday pay, medical and dental coverage and life insurance. When you apply for a job you can inquire about the benefit package that the company offers its temporary employees or if you answer an ad, it may state in the ad that there are benefits included in the package.

With the uncertainty in today economy, many employers who would usually offer full time employment are opting for temporary or contract jobs instead. This gives them the chance to be able to get smaller jobs done over a period of time without having to make a commitment of hiring workers for the long term. They often state that a contract can be renewed after a successful term of work.

With temporary employment you can choose when and where you want to work. If you are attending school or if you have commitments at home that prevent you from working certain hours, most employers are quite willing to arrange your schedule according to the hours when you are available for work. For example, if you are a mother with children attending school, you might want to work only during school hours with your weekends and holidays off.

In most companies, even though you are a temporary employee, you may actually work full time hours and the position may turn into a permanent position after you have proven that you are well able to do the work required. By accepting a temporary job, this could be a stepping stone to getting the job you always wanted when you pay your dues by working part time. You will be well positioned to move into a permanent position when one becomes available in the company.

It is an easy task to apply for a temporary job. There are many temp agencies that will help you find work. In addition, you will find ads for such work online, in newspapers and even in postings at your school and in the supermarket. Some locations may have signs posted outside letting everyone know they are looking to hire workers in temporary positions.

Changing careers is not as complicated and difficult as it used to be 50 years ago, with so many employment opportunities available one can switch not just jobs but switch careers. Interestingly, it is no longer uncommon for middle aged individuals to change careers. If you are currently in a job you are not happy with or feel that you would be better off doing something else in life, here are few tips to help you evaluate and assist you in a career change.

How satisfied are you with your job? Measuring job satisfaction is not a simple task because everyone has their fair share of good days and bad days. The best way to assess your job satisfaction is by keeping a journal; keep a journal of your day to day activities, your interaction with colleagues and also with your superiors. At the end of each month, go through the journal and see how many ‘good days’ and ‘bad days’ you have had.

The personal inventory If you are convinced that you need to change careers, the first thing you need to do is make a personal inventory. Take some time away from work and analyze you strengths and weaknesses and try and find skills that you think can help you change careers. If your skills are being put to good use then you might need to change jobs and not careers. If you are satisfied that your current job is not doing justice to your skill sets the next task is finding a career that will utilize your skills to the maximum.

Brainstorming Finding careers that do justice to your skills will not be a simple task. You should discuss your core values and skills with friends and family members to get creative and critical inputs. It is important to keep your options open and consider all possible careers before you start short listing careers.

Short listing careers Chances are, there will be more than one career paths available to you. If this is the case, you should have a detailed understanding of each prospective career. If you are not satisfied with your research, speak to a career counsellor to get a better understanding of each career option.

Research As mentioned earlier in the article, it is important to research each prospective career path. Once you have short listed careers you are interested in, carry out further research and look into aspects like working hours, pay scales and also the amount of stress you are likely to encounter. If possible, try and volunteer for activities that are linked to the career you are planning on choosing.

Look for educational opportunities Before you embark on any career, make sure you have the necessary certifications/qualifications required. If possible, look out for colleges and professional groups that are offering courses relating to your new career. If your new organization does not offer in-house training, you will definitely need to look for educational institutions that are offering training courses and certifications relevant to your new job.

Are you looking for advice in your career planning? Are you wondering where you can find good advice to help you make something out of your life? There are a lot of good websites to help you to take your career planning advice seriously. It is important that when you are a job seeker that you look for some expert advice for planning your career.

In college, you are taught how to be prepared for the real world, but then when you graduate you end up feeling completely lost. Your future success in life depends on how well you plan your career from the very beginning, and on how well you equip yourself to deal with the learning curve needed for success in the workplace and in navigating your way around office politics for instance.

As for some of the advice that you are going to hear, you are going to find that everyone is going to tell you that you need to make sure that your personality and your dream goals match. You can also take some online tests to help you to make sure that your aptitude and expectations will match any career you are considering at the moment. You will be able to research a solid path for your future.

With the results from your personality and career tests you will be able to find something that could make you feel good about yourself and pull your life around. Many personnel and recruitment agencies have job applicants complete such tests, so it is helpful if you already have some experience in completing these tests and can be less stressed in such a test environment. This will help you to shine in a job interview situation.

The second piece of advice that everyone is going to tell you is the fact that you are going to have to do a lot of research and work to find the career that will make you happy. You are going to have to make lists and look up each and every career that holds some interest for you. You are going to have to make sure that the career that you pick will make you happy, and if you do your proper research, you should be able to find a career that is fulfilling. You will also want to do a lot of hands on experience for you to get a real clue as to what you can do with your life. You can also seek out the assistance of a career development counselor through your college or job agency.

The last piece of advice is that you will want to follow your heart. This means that if you don’t feel like going into some field, then don’t! You don’t want to waste your time, as you may end up in a dead end job for the rest of your life. You will find that if you follow your heart and some career decisions for the very beginning then you will end up being successful when it comes to designing a career for yourself.

I have found a site created by Helene Malmsio who has had 20 years of employment recruitment and staff training experience. On this site there are hundreds of resources to help you plan your career, including a no-obligation report download and eCourse you can also subscribe to, that can be used by anyone wanting some expert help in trying to develop their career further. It also has HR management articles for new executives just learning about their staff recruiting and management processes along with staff career planning pathways.

It is very important that you do that what it takes to make something of yourself, because there is a lot of people who work all their lives, but waste every opportunity put their way to develop their careers further. Those people are never happy because they are never able to achieve success that is the bets piece of advice that you can ever get for career planning.

Make sure you get your hands on all the information you can use to be in control of your future work pathways and opportunities in your lifetime career path.

Are you planning to make a career change? If so, you might want to consider working with a career coach. A career coach can help you create a plan for achieving your career goals while also providing you with the support and encouragement you need. In this way, you can achieve your career goals and finally work in a profession that makes you happy and provides you with a handsome income.

What is a Career Coach?

A career coach is a person that has been trained in helping other people develop their career goals. Even if you are unsure your career goals, a career coach will work closely with you in order to help you determine where you would like your career to go and to develop a plan for achieving those goals.

If you have dreams of landing a job as a manager or executive, you might want to work with an executive coach. An executive coach is a specialized type of career coach that focuses on helping a person work up the chain of command within his or her field. With the help of an executive coach, you will learn how to obtain the training needed to climb the corporate ladder as well as learn more about how you should perform in the workplace in order to get noticed and to receive the promotion you are trying to get.

Who Needs a Career Coach?

Anyone that wants to advance in his or her career or that is looking to make a career change can benefit from the services of a career coach. Whether you are just getting started in your career or have been working on your career path for many years, a career coach can help you hone your skills and make the right career decisions. Even if you are in college or are trying to determine your major in college, it can be beneficial to consult with a coach. This way, you can get assistance with choosing the classes that will put you in the best position for landing the career of your dreams once you graduate.

How do I Select a Career Coach?

When searching for a career coach, however, it is often a good idea to find one that has experience helping people within your specific field. This way, the coach can provide you with assistance and support that has to do with the career path you have chosen.
