Earn Money In your house Writing Articles or blog posts – Opportunites for Work At home Moms

If you have decided that working from your home would be the way to go , there are jobs available as a freelance content writer. The number of sites on the internet is nearly infinite and all those web-sites have to have content added frequently. A lot of that content material is in the form of expert articles, reports and blog posts and a lot of of it is written by individuals very much like you.

Websites have to have new articles practically daily to hold their position in the search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo. They need to have so much content material that they cannot possibly write it all themselves. That’s they need people like you. If you have a ninth grade writing ability plus a desire to earn money in your own home, you may become a writer for the net.

What kinds of things will you write about? You name it. Just take a look at what is around the world wide web nowadays. Google back pain, canine training, Chinese cooking or industrial floor waxers. You will discover articles or blog posts and internet websites on all of them and the owners of those internet websites need fresh new content material on a regular basis.

How can you locate writing jobs? There are many ways to get going. One simple way is to go to an article marketing web site like www.elance.com where web masters post writing jobs. You’ll find postings for every kind of writing job from brief articles or blog posts that pay a couple of bucks to longer projects that could possibly pay 1000′s of dollars. Begin small to get your feet wet and assemble a portfolio of articles. Then you will be able to get better assignments.

Bidding on jobs is one simple technique to make money in your house as a writer. You can find many others. The point is, if you’d like to be a WAHM, there’s nothing to hold you back. All you’ll need is a little bit of writing ability plus a foot in the door.

It’s a crunch time for graduating seniors entering the workforce. It’s a tough time for graduates to find a fitful job nowadays.
The tough economy has worsened some students concerning for their career plans. Someone said that “It’s scary for the simple fact you don’t know how many openings a place may have or if you’re going to be everything that that company needs”.
The employment rate for graduates last year was less than 70% and the rising number seeking jobs is challenging the Chinese government at a time when the current economic crisis will surely exacerbate the problem. This issue is much wore this year. Employment in China has plummeted. Fewer positions are available for graduates and graduate employment will be limited in this year and for the next few years. Although many companies cannot find qualified employees working in specific technical fields, many Chinese graduates have majored in accounting, Chinese language and literature, law and computer science, whereas jobs in these fields are limited. It is likely close to 2 million graduates will be hideously unemployment- many of whom are postgraduates, even doctoral graduates.
Several factors are responsible for the dire situation facing graduates and the massive expansion of enrolments since 1999 is one issue. In 1999, the government stimulated domestic demand by increasing higher education enrolments to answer negative influence by the Asian financial crisis that began in 1997. Now the graduates with great amount of education investment become the poor victim of the increasing education enrolments.
The modernization of China’s economy and the opening of its markets have brought wealth, but at the cost of unemployment for many. Because of the rat race in such a society with stagnant economic, some students only with senior middle school diploma have to be a young work in factories in order to be one of the technically skilled workers. They think that they’d better earn money early than to be a would-be unemployment man with high diploma or experienced major skills. People take their jobs more seriously and are very loyal to their employers in such a competitive society with strong impact by this financial crisis.
Fewer positions are available for graduates and graduate employment will be limited in this year and for the next few years. What it will going on about the job issue of Chinese graduates?
Unemployed workers seem to be staying with friends in local apartments. Unemployed graduates find jobs such as workers in factories and salesmen, or they even polish shoes for others like so illiterate one. “I just want a job — no demands on salary” What a helpless claim! A report said that a girl in job fair kneel to one of the recruiter in Guangdong. Graduates choose suicide as their ending for life is not a new news now. What a cruel fact for our graduates!
Measures such as expanding postgraduate enrolments cannot solve the problem of graduate unemployment as it can only offer some relief or postpone the current employment pressure. Indeed, in recent years, employment of master degree graduates has become problematic. How it will go on if unemployed graduates become graduate student three years later?

This newsletter goes out to about 500 people each month. Many of you may question why this topic would be of interest since you have a good job and appear to be pretty safe and stable in it. However, according to recent studies 400 of the 500 people reading this will have a new job in the next five years. So this is a very relevant topic for most people.

I am currently working with several people as they go through a career transition (translation – out of work and looking for a job). As we explore options and help them focus on the future, there are some interesting facts about the job market that everyone should be aware of. In my generation, a job was defined as working for a large company, like IBM, Dupont, or Ford. Our vision was that we could get a nice salary, great benefits, a comfortable retirement and all we had to do was work hard and progress steadily up the corporate ladder.

Here are some realities of the current job market:

- The average person entering the work force today will have between 10 and 14 jobs by the time they are age 39. This is driven by a rapidly changing business environment that sees companies come and go much more frequently than ever in the past.

- Only 2.6 percent of jobs in the U.S. are with companies that employ more than 99 people. A person who equates a job with working for a large organization is severely limiting options in the future.

- The top ten jobs that will be in demand in 2010 did not exist in 2004. Technology, world markets, and population demographics are creating new jobs every day. The problem is finding people with the right skills and personal characteristics to handle the new jobs.

So to prepare for your next career transition, here are some things you can do now to be prepared:

1. Build a network. Only 12 percent of positions that are available are advertised. Most are filled through word-of-mouth and networking. Get to know people, particularly those who own their own businesses. Show genuine interest in their business.

I never thought I would say this, but take advantage of social networking web sites like Facebook or Twitter to meet additional people. If you don’t believe in the power of this, it took 30 years for radio to reach 50 million people, 20 years for TV to reach 50 million people, and 2 years for Facebook to reach 50 million people.

2. Upgrade your skills constantly. You have to be technologically savvy in today’s world. If you are in a profession that has declining demand, then it may be time to consider getting additional education through local technical colleges or even through online training programs.

3. Get healthy. The number of jobs that provide full health care benefits is declining and will continue to do so. There is a good chance that your next job will not have as good of benefits as the one you left. The best way to lower you medical costs is to live a healthy life style.

4. Explore self employment opportunities. A recent estimate said that around 60 percent of households in the U.S. have some form of business operating out of the home. While on the surface self employment may seem to be the least secure form of employment, it may actually be the best way to achieve long term stability and security. Having been self employed for ten years, there is no way that I could see myself back in a corporate job.

Being self employed doesn’t necessarily mean that you will make more money and spend less time at work. In reality you will probably make less money and spend more time, but the rewards of being in control of your own destiny can outweigh these.

5. Get your finances house in order. The reason that many people get stressed during times of career transition is that they have failed to plan for an interruption in income and benefits. They are one missed paycheck away from financial ruin. Make a plan that assumes that you will miss three months pay in the next three years. What would you do? It is amazing how much money we routinely spend on stuff that we could do without during a true crunch.

As you read this, I hope that you are one of the hundred that won’t have to face a career transition, but is it worth taking the chance? Time spent preparing now will lessen the impact if it actually happens.

Unemployment Survival: Cutting Costs

With our economy in recession, more people will be losing their jobs, and could be finding themselves without one for an extended period. When that happens it’s not good enough to just cut back spending a little and use credit cards to make ends meet until the economy recovers. Getting by without a job is possible, even for an extended period, but it requires taking drastic measures to cut spending, and it requires taking them early, while you’ve still got some cash on hand.

Cutting fixed expenses

Most of the fixed costs for a household are tied up with housing. There’s the rent or mortgage, there’s the utilities, and there’s the insurance. If you own a house free and clear with no mortgage (or if the payments are very low), then it may make sense to stay there (even though just utilities and insurance can add up to as much as the cost of a cheap apartment). If you’re renting or have a mortgage, you need to look seriously at moving to the lowest-cost housing you can find–and start looking the instant you begin to suspect that this period of unemployment will not be the sort of brief sojourn that people can generally expect during good economic times.

The most obvious thing to do is to move in with relatives. Many people view this as the sort of ignominious defeat that’s little better than ending up living in their car, but it’s a step that can turn a catastrophe into just a bump in the road if you do it early enough. If you wait until your savings are exhausted and you’ve run up a bunch of credit card debt, you can put yourself into a hole that you may not be able to get out of anytime soon. Just tell yourself that you’re not moving in with relatives forever, just until the economy improves enough that you can find steady work again. And really, isn’t this what family is for – to support us and always be there for us in our time of need no matter what? Of course it is.

If you don’t have relatives (or they won’t take you in), other sorts of house-sharing arrangements are possible, such as splitting costs with a roommate or renting a room in someone else’s house. The other really large expense for a lot of people is transportation. Owning a car costs thousands of dollars a year–and only about half the expense is the purchase price and financing; the rest is just fuel, maintenance, taxes, and so on. If your car is paid off, it may make sense to keep it; it would put some opportunities to earn money within reach that wouldn’t be if you had to rely on public transport or a bicycle or walking. But owing money on a car is just about untenable for someone without a job.

Those are the big ones. If you can reduce your cost of housing enough (and you don’t have other debt that you have to make payments on), you can cover your other living expenses at some level, even with a very low income, at least temporarily.

Enjoy it

Is there any overlap between living in poverty and living large? Personally, I think there is. Being forced by hard economic times to eke out a meager existence – that’s not exactly living large. But choosing to eke out a meager existence, because it’s the best way to live according to your own values? That’s living about as large as you possibly can. Most people never think about what they most want to do with their lives. They find something that they’re okay at that pays enough money to support them, and then let a rising income drive a rising standard of living with no real thought even to the possibility that there might be alternatives. In hard times, though, the alternatives may be all you’ve got. Fortunately, there’s a good chance that one of those alternatives is actually a better choice than whatever you ended up doing.

You can get by without a job if you cut your spending enough. And if you do that, you open up a universe of possibilities that most people don’t even know is out there. Take advantage of the opportunity to explore those previously uncontemplated choices. If you don’t like what you find, you can go back to working a regular job just as soon as you find one. Maybe, though, you’ll find the alternatives alluring.

And if you’re unemployed and haven’t already done so, by all means – file for unemployment.

So often we hear people complain they are overworked and underpaid, and how they have no idea how to fix their situation. I think we can all relate that we have been there at one point or another. Through the years, I have found a few key things that can help someone to have a successful career.

1)Make sure you are actively learning at your job on a daily basis:

The key to learning is being an active part of the process. Just like school, often people show up daily and expect their presence to develop them. True success means not only showing up but also being an active participant in aggressively seeking advice from others, reading books and following through immediately.

2)Seek to add value to the company you work for:

If you want to be successful, employers and clients need to see value in your work. If you want more money and more opportunity, it only makes sense that you need to be doing a job that adds more revenue or eliminates additional costs. Find ways where you can add revenue to a company or decrease expenses so that you are an asset to the company you work with rather than a liability.

3)Seek to add value to the people you work with:

Creating a great team around you is crucial in having a successful career. Almost all wildly successful people have developed a great team of people who work alongside them because of the value they see in each other. When you research the wealthiest person in the world it is no surprise that right up there in the top 50 alongside Bill Gates, are his members of his team like Michael Dell, Paul Allen, and Steven Ballmer.

4)Surround yourself with people more successful than you no matter how humbling the experience:

It is extremely humbling to imagine having to play alongside Colby Bryant or Michael Jordan on a basketball court, especially having been cut from the 7th grade basketball team despite being 5’8″ at the age of 10. However, if my goal were to improve my basketball game, I could only get better by playing daily with someone so successful. It’s not only the physical strength that’s developed; it’s also the lessons to be learned by simply watching the habits of someone with such dedication and drive. The same holds true in business. The best way to do this is to study successful people and how they talk, walk, think and act.

5)Make as many mistakes as possible and smile! along the way:

All through school it was ingrained in me that mistakes were bad and I carried this mentality with me when I began working. A very intelligent mentor helped me change my view on mistakes when he made me look at the view scientists take with their studies. Each unsuccessful attempt to come to the right conclusion for a scientist is not labeled a failure, it’s called an experiment. The more scientists experiment, the more miraculous things are created. I realized if I was afraid to experiment, I wouldn’t ever come to any conclusions. So experiment I did… and still do.

So much of what I have learned has come from reading books from the expert like John Maxwell, Steven Covey, Dale Carnegie, David Schwartz and many more. I thank them for all the lessons they taught me and I thank the many mentors that have been patient with me through all my experiments while learning these lessons.

Every 4 years, the United States government takes an official tally of the number of residents in each town, city, county and state in the US. This information is used primarily for determining the number of representatives each state and county is allotted by the federal government. But today, there is much more to the census than counting heads. The information is used to determine funding for a large number of state and federal programs, such as public school funding. The demographic data provides a goldmine of information for businesses and marketers as well.

A census taker’s job provides a great opportunity for anyone looking for a temporary or part time job, or students looking for summer employment to get a good paying job with flexible time and hours, working with people, and knowing you are contributing a very important process dating back to the founding of the United States of America! An army of paid workers is needed to travel down each street and alley, and look in every nook and cranny to ensure that no individual is missed. President Obama’s strong interest in the outcome of the census provides all the more reason to believe that the 2010 census will be better funded, and employ more people than any before in history. The interviewing for census taker jobs in 2010 will start in the fall of 2009. If you want to get one of these jobs, you need to be prepared.

Preparation Steps:

1. Visit the Census Jobs Web Page

The census has a dedicated web page for people who are interested in taking up a census job.
This page is updated with the latest census job information available.

2. Understand what knowledge will be expected.

Like many civil service jobs, there is an exam you must pass. The exam test basic competency in math and reading skills, reading maps, Interpreting information and evaluating alternatives, and organizational skills. There is a practice test available on the census jobs web site

3. Check the opportunities available at regional Census field offices.

The census bureau has 12 regional field offices located in Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Kansas city, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia and Seattle. Each regional district covers an area of several states. Go to the regional field offices main page and click on the us map to find your particular census district field office. It may in fact be locates outside your state! For example, the California is split into two districts with a field office in Los Angeles for Southern California, and a field office in Seattle! The local field office employment pages will list specific job opportunities within the district as well as phone number and other information for ongoing survey and field work positions. There is a lot of other useful information available at the regional field office pages as well.

Bilingual Skills give you an edge.

Know more than one language fluently? this may give you a great opportunity to get a leg-up on the hiring. Part of the census mandate is to encourage participation of non-english speaking residents, who will need the help of someone who understands their native language well. Because of the diverse nature of American population, speakers of all languages are needed. So the more uncommon the language you speak, the more likely your translation services will be needed.

SO if you are looking for some part time employment, of just want to have a flexible job to make some extra money, and meet a lot of people, check out the US Census Bureau, they may have a job that is perfect for you!

The effects of a job layoff can be major and life-changing. And if you own a home and find yourself struggling to make your mortgage payments, you may even wonder if there’s a point at which you’d just mail your house keys to the bank. If you haven’t already done so – file for unemployment.

Is it ever a good idea to “walk away” from a mortgage?

For all too many Americans this isn’t even a question – they simply can’t come up with their payment this month. But others face a complex tradeoff. Perhaps you can squeak out the monthly payment but have to turn down a better job in another town because your mortgage is too far underwater for you to sell your home. Maybe you’re so far away from ever breaking even on the house that you just can’t stand to keep throwing money at it. Some people will find walking makes sense.

Here are the purely economic costs you’ll have to weigh. First, there’s your credit score. If you have a good score, it most likely will drop more than 100 points, according to credit scorer FICO, and the mark stays on your report for seven years. You’ll be hard-pressed to buy again anytime soon. And you should remember that potential employers and landlords may see your credit record, although some of the stigma of losing a house may be wearing off now that we’re Foreclosure Nation.

Taxes. In the past, if a lender forgave a mortgage, you typically had to pay tax on that amount. A new law offers relief from most of those federal taxes. But it’s only for a primary residence, and if you borrowed against the house for anything besides home improvement, you’ll still owe tax on that part. Also, depending on your state’s law and your type of mortgage, your lender may be able to go after you for the money. It is uncommon, but as the recession drags on, banks may get tougher. Consult an attorney and tax professional before making a decision.

And check the rental market in your area. You may not save as much as you’d think, especially after figuring in taxes and the burden of poor credit.

I don’t have much of an emergency fund if I lose my job. What do I do now?

You need backup cash like never before. It’s taking people longer to find work – a middle-aged worker now can expect an average of six months to rebound from a layoff. And if you have a very senior position it could take longer. So ideally you should have a year’s worth of expenses saved. You also want to take a hard look at your 401(k) and IRA investments. Tapping retirement accounts for living expenses should be your very last resort, but if you have little or no other savings, you might want to consider these as emergency sources of cash.

The easiest way to keep your translation business profitable is to cultivate a core group of regular clients who will fill your inbox with translation projects, allowing you to spend your time working rather than looking for work. Implementing some of the tips below will help you keep a regular stream of work coming your way.

1. Meet every deadline. If you can’t consistently meet deadlines, you’re not well-suited to being a freelance translator. Remember that your clients have deadlines too, and are sometimes waiting for your work as part of a larger project. As one experienced translator comments, “8:00 means 7:50, not 8:10.”

2. Be easy to reach. Put your contact information in your email signature file, so that a client never has to look up your phone or fax number. Realize that many times, if clients cannot reach you immediately, they will contact another translator. Since over 90% of contacts from clients will be by e-mail, put an auto-responder on your e-mail if you will be out of the office for even a few hours.

3. Follow directions. While it can be time-consuming to follow many different clients’ particular ways of doing things, you will save the client time and money, and thus get more work from them, by following their instructions to the letter. If the client asks you to put your initials in the file name, do it. If the client asks you to put the word “Invoice” in the subject line of the e-mail containing your invoice, do it.

4. Don’t waste your clients’ time. It’s acceptable, and even encouraged to ask questions when you need to clarify something. However, it’s also important to show respect for your clients’ time, and for the fact that yours is probably not the only project they are handling. Keep your e-mails short and to the point, and make your questions clear and easy to answer.

5. Provide referrals. Many translators worry that providing referrals to other translators in the same language combination will lead to less work for themselves, but in fact the opposite seems to be true. Clients like to work with freelancers who solve the clients’ problems, and when you’re too busy and can’t handle their work or are going on vacation, it’s a problem for them. Have the names of two or three translators in your language combination who you really trust, and provide these names to your clients when you aren’t available for work.

6. Be easy to work with. This isn’t to say that you should be a pushover or let clients take advantage of you, but for your regular clients, it’s worth putting in some extra effort. Thank them for giving you their business; be friendly and polite if a payment is unexpectedly late; fill in for them in a pinch when another translator lets them down.

7. Ask for constructive criticism. It’s important to see feedback as part of your quality assurance process, not as an attack on your abilities as a translator. If a client asks for changes in your translation, make them politely and immediately; if you decide later that the changes are unnecessary and you don’t want to work for the client again, it’s another matter. With your regular and trusted clients, periodically ask what you can do to better meet their needs, then implement these changes.

8. Appreciate your clients. Your regular clients are the people who make it possible for you to earn a healthy income while living a flexible and self-directed freelance lifestyle. A small gift at the end of the year is always appreciated when a client has given you regular work.

9. Don’t bicker. If a prospective client offers you a project at a ridiculously low rate, politely decline it, possibly sending them a copy of your standard rate sheet if you have one. Don’t insult them for offering such low pay or make negative comments about their business; just courteously decline to work for them and let them move on to someone else.

10. Charge what you’re worth, and earn it. There will always be another translator out there who is willing to work for one cent per word less than you are, so don’t compete on price alone. Giving your clients a little more effort than necessary proves to them that often, they get the level of service they pay for.

Difficult to choose a career

We must admit that none on earth is fully satisfied with his profession, trade, calling and employment and everyone of us is still desiring that he must change the line and join another career. If we start counting professions, trades, callings and employments , we shall cross figures of thousands and now we can grade people even in one occupation differently and even their status and wages are to be fixed differently. We have noted that this man wants to attain more efficiency and proficiency in his line and he wants promotions too. He wants that his earnings must go ahead because in due course everyone of us shall be getting more responsibilities and he shall require more money and a better status and at the same time we note most of us get frustration because they do not attain the desired targets in life.

There were times when people were adopting the same occupation which their elders had been following, but now the people have started to choose as per their qualifications, training and aptitude and we have noted that experts have established their units in the field who are helping the applicants in choosing a right career. But since we are living in a period of competition, most of the people are not getting a job as per their desires, wishes and as per their aptitudes. They are forced to join a career or a line which is not acceptable to them and they work in that trade throughout their life. That is the reason most of the people are not in a position to show their proficiency and efficiency and that is the reason most of us do not get promotions and higher status in life and that is the reason most of us remain frustrated in life.

Even God could not help this man because God Himself has created this man which if full of desires, wishes, targets, likings, aptitudes and that is the reason he is not satisfied with his present lot and is always wishing to go ahead or to change in life. Therefore, we can say that this man shall never be able to have a line of his choice and he shall remain wishing to change his present lot and if we go deep, all success which this man could achieve throughout the ages, those had been there because this man had never been satisfied with his present lot and always tried to change or to attain a better position in life. Therefore, we must accept that full satisfaction in life is not in favour of this man and must remain unsatisfied with his life and must try to go ahead. This is the base of his progress and the man who wants change must be taken as a man with progressive outlook and must be honoured in life.

These are tough times for job market and the global economic slowdown is eating up thousands of jobs each week leaving many jobless. Some industries like IT, manufacturing, real estate, financial services etc have been specially hit. Companies are cutting jobs and reorganizing their workforce to control costs. Those companies that are not laying off have either frozen new inductions or pay hikes. Hence, there is very less new job creation in most of the industries that goes for both – jobs in India and abroad. This is an especially tough time for freshers looking for jobs. However, it is not like there are no new jobs up for grabs. Companies are hiring on need basis though they may not be advertising job vacancies to cut costs.

So, how does one land a job during recession? Many employees are staying put at their jobs, no matter how bad or unsatisfactory it is. While some other smart jobseekers are exploring smart job search ways to get job offers even in this tough time. Job search has become tougher than ever right now but it is not impossible to find a job. For those who have been laid off, or those who are fresh out of college and looking for a job, there is still glimmer of hope. Jobs are not as easy to come by but that does not mean that there are no jobs at all. Now, more than ever, there is more competition per job so it will pay to be smarter in job search.

Firstly, keep disappointment at bay. You are not the only one out there on whom bad times have befallen. There are thousands there with similar fate. Young jobseekers too need not get too cynical about the job market. Negative thoughts are natural but they will only end up harming you. So, keep giving yourself motivation and encouragement that this is just a temporary phase. It will surely pass. All you need to do is keep your confidence and positivism intact. It is these things that will help you sail through. Don’t let insecurity bog you down.

If you are out of job currently, your first aim should be getting a job and keep getting a steady pay Cheque. You must explore new sectors and jobs. This just might be the turning point in your career. Be open in your attitude and try to get any decent job. Remember, it would any day be better than sitting idle. Do something that interests you or look at pursuing any of your hobbies as a career. It will only add value to your resume and help you market yourself better when the job market opens up. And when you get an interview call, prepare well for it in advance. There would definitely be fierce competition so you have to make sure that you convert an interview call into a job offer.

If you are currently working but your company has started pruning its workforce, may be it’s time for you to rethink your career strategy. You never know when the axe will fall on you too. Firstly, start doing adequate savings. There is nothing better than a monetary cushion when you are out of work. It will give you the required time and confidence to look for a new job. Don’t waste money and ask your family to save too. Network more than ever and be mindful of job opportunities in any company. Basically, don’t be caught unaware and unprepared if you are laid off. Planning your career this way will help you in long run and make your job search easier too.

Call centers are nothing less than a revolution in India. The young brigade of India, fresh out of college and raring to go has got a fabulous opportunity to begin career at a call center. Some students join it merely to start earning some pocket money. There are numerous call center jobs for fresh graduates and even experienced professionals. These call centers could either be of international companies or even of domestic companies. Nearly a decade ago, the culture of call centers invaded the Indian scene and has completely changed the way youngsters look at jobs now.

Call centers are of two types: Inbound and Outbound. The inbound customers are those that handle customer queries and take calls. Many international companies have based their call centers for customer services in India. These are voice-based services. Selected candidates for these call center jobs are given voice modulation training, thorough knowledge of the product and also a sense of the culture of the area of whose customers they are dealing with. In these call centers, 24×7 calls are received from customers who are looking for any sort of information or want to lodge a complaint or place an order or anything that they want to say.

The outbound call centers are those that make calls to people. Generally, these are sales calls aimed at generating leads and getting in more business. The employees at outbound call centers are required to understand their products and services well and pitch them to the customers. Again, these are voice-based services where the employees are required to make calls. Extensive training is imparted to these call center workers to be able to drive better sales by understanding the needs of the customer well.

Jobs at call centers are advertised through newspapers, job sites and on company sites. The best part about call center jobs is that they readily hire fresh graduates. These graduates are trained under the supervision of trainers and seniors. The call centers offer high starting salaries and are the compensation paid is the main attraction for those working here. Call centers also offer many motivational activities to their employees. All this is done to retain talent as attrition rate is quite high in this industry. Students do not consider call centers as long-term careers but there are many who have stayed on with this industry to carve out long-term careers. They acquire managerial posts and start leading teams after three-four years of experience.

A typical call center is like a service center that has appropriate telecom facilities and access to Internet. Call centers provide both web-based and voice based information and support to domestic or international customers. Call centers provide a huge spectrum of services and are useful in all industries such as banking, credit collections, hotel/airline reservations manufacturing, customer service, order desk, catalogue sales, security, pharmaceuticals, utilities, market research, technical queries, food service, etc.

This career is best suited to freshers looking to start their career or retired professionals or even housewives. The field gives good growth opportunities to those working in here. Professionals from the tech field, HR, marketing can find good job opportunities at call centers. Though there are no particular educational qualifications required to join a call center, generally, graduates with good command over the language are preferred. For call centers servicing clients in eth western world, candidates must possess a good command over the English language. They should also have excellent communication skills, basic knowledge of computers, sharp presence of mind, ability to talk confidently in unfamiliar situations and patience. Sometimes, there are difficult customers to handle on phone and a call center executive must retain his cool temperament to deal with such situations.

There are irregular shifts in call centers. Call centers that service clients in the US have main workload at night so there are mandatory night shifts. However, there are many perks that come with call center jobs. Most call centers provide free meals and transport facilities to their employees. There are also other incentives and career growth opportunities that call centers promise to their executives. Thus, there are both negative and positive points of working in a call center. There are call centers located across the country but Gurgaon, Noida, Hyderabad and Bangalore have become the hub of call

Centers in India.

1) If you see a politics in your office first step you should do not interfere in it and try to stay away from it.

2) Don’t ever give a chance to your superior or boss to shout at you.

3) If your boss shouts at you just stay calm and relax as if nothing has happen, because as you know that “Boss is always right”.

4) If you are going for breakfast, lunch, tea then do not spend more time in it. It creates a bad impression on your performance and taking this point in to consideration many people gets a chance to play a politics against you.

5) Do not sit ideal in office because one or the other person is having an eye on you.”So instead of nothing do something”.

There are some industries where success has little to do with the state of the economy: Medical sales jobs and healthcare sales jobs are definitely among them.

1. The industry

The UK healthcare industry as a whole is worth billions of pounds and employs around 2 million people.

The National Health Service (NHS) is the largest employer, with a workforce of 1.3 million. A further 21% work in the private sector, 1.9% in the voluntary sector and the remainder in local authorities and other organisations.

The pharmaceutical industry employs around 70,000 people. It develops and produces drugs, equipment and products, and is a major provider of medical rep jobs and healthcare sales jobs.

Medical rep jobs play a crucial role in the industry, closing the gap between pharmaceutical companies and healthcare professionals. They ensure clients are aware of, buy and use their company’s pharmaceutical and medical products – whether in general practices, primary care trusts or hospitals.

In terms of jobs in medical sales, the top five leading international pharmaceutical companies in 2007 were Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKline, Sanofi-Aventis, AstraZeneca and Novartis (Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry).

2. The current climate

While more people are now seeking new work, there is a string of industries where success has little to do with the state of the economy. Drugs companies in particular are where investors pile their money to wait out a recession.

Why? Because people need dentists, doctors and other healthcare professionals regardless of the state of the economy – just as they need the right drugs and equipment to make people better. Because when things go wrong they have to be fixed; it’s not discretionary spending. Medical sales jobs and healthcare sales jobs are an integral and invaluable part of this process.

What’s more, skill shortages in the public services sector will always fuel demand for high-calibre professionals – particularly in the drive to find new, more effective drugs to fight disease and in caring for an older population.

3. What medical sales jobs are out there?

The healthcare jobs market is awash with a wide variety of titles and terminology. Some of the most common are healthcare sales jobs, medical sales jobs, medical rep jobs, medical equipment sales, wound care sales jobs, laboratory sales jobs and theatre sales jobs.

While medical rep jobs mostly involve promoting prescription products, successful candidates could find themselves selling anything – from wound care products, surgical tools, implants or large medical devices into large NHS trusts, private hospitals, dentists or even veterinary surgeons.

Opportunities may also occur in related medical sales jobs fields, such as medical disposables and equipment. Additionally, some experienced healthcare sales jobs lead on to working as field trainers – training and developing juniors in healthcare jobs.

Since at least one-third of the pharmaceuticals produced in the UK are exported, there are also international medical sales jobs opportunities.

4. What do recruiters look for?

There are many jobs in medical sales to be found, across a very wide range of specialist areas and geographical locations. Competition for jobs in medical sales can be high, particularly with company mergers and the tightening of finances within the NHS. However, there are lots of ways to stand out from the crowd. Certain attributes that employers look for include:

Individuals who can successfully work as part of a team (medical sales jobs will often involve sharing territory)

Graduates or trainees, or individuals with nursing, marketing or ethical sales experience

Candidates with a science degree (approximately 50% of the 9,000 medical sales reps in the UK have one; the other 50% are mainly graduates from other academic disciplines)

Experience in selling to the medical market, or a medical background

At SalesTarget.co.uk, there are a huge range of healthcare jobs and medical sales jobs for you to explore, spanning all skills and sectors.

Salestarget.co.uk is the UK’s no.1 jobsite dedicated specifically to sales industry professionals. Founded in 2005 by the Totaljobs Group Ltd., Salestarget.co.uk covers all industry sectors such as FMCG, IT, telecoms, media, automotive, financial services, property and medical sales.

Do you want to stand out among all of the other job applicants vying for the same part time job that you are going for?

Tenacity is a key component to you part time job search as a teenager. Employers like to hire teens who “want” the job.

All teens want to make extra money to buy the latest iphone, go to the movies, party, the latest clothes fashion, etc… but what will make you stand out compared to the other teens who want the same job?

Tenacity. Your level of tenacity will be based on how hungry you are for tha particular job.

What’s the main way to show your potential employer that you really really “want” the job?

How do you show your potential employer that you are the best person out of all other applicants that will complete his current staff or crew?

Before we answer that, you should know that the potential employer sees hundreds, yes hundreds, of applications each month so you have to be the one to stand out among the rest.

Here’s the answer. It’s all in your behavior.

What does that mean? It simply means that that the person who shows the most enthusiasm and persistence with a positive attitude and willing to take a proactive approach is usually the winner.

Think about it this way, if you were the employer and wanted to hire a good team member to fit in with the rest of your crew and you had to choose from 100 people that filled out an application, but only one of those people filled out several job applications over a few weeks and constantly came in to follow up with the hiring person, would this potential candidate stand out to you?

You better believe it!

There’s a good old saying that goes “The harder I work, the luckier I get.”

Basically, it means that the people who continue to work hard at trying to achieve their goals are always opening more doors of opportunity. In the end, it looks as if they were lucky, but the truth of the matter is that they worked hard at putting themselves in the right place at the right time.

In this case, a teenager trying to get a part time job will open more opportunities by being tenacious at filling out online part-time McDonalds job application, the KFC job application, or the online Burger King job application, etc… and being persistent at following up with the hiring manager, all the while staying proactive and positive that they WILL be the chosen one!

If you think that you have to sacrifice enjoyment and excitement for a top paying job, you’ve got it all wrong. To be quite honest, some of the highest paying careers in the world are those that are the most rewarding – in more ways than one.

Many people have the wrong notion that having one of the highest paying careers means being cooped up in a corporate office staring at numbers and vice-versa.

Although there are corporate jobs that pay exceedingly well, there are also a great number of wonderful job opportunities that will make you feel like you’re not even at work! Want to find out what these opportunities are? Read on!

1) Airline Pilots

A lot of boys (and some girls) grow up wanting to become an airline pilot. However, not a lot of them actually pursue the career. Somewhere along the way, they forego such seemingly distant dreams for something closer to home. Another obstacle is that it’s quite expensive to study and train for this type of career.

However, airline pilots have one of the highest paying careers in the world. There are also a multitude of benefits that come with flying a plane. The travel perks for you and your family certainly counts as one of those advantages. It’s also easy to map out your career once you start on this path. The higher your rank, the better paid you will be.

2) Podiatrists

A medical career is definitely one of the highest paying careers in the world. However, becoming a doctor or a surgeon takes a whole lot of time and money. Not everyone can spend years studying medicine, although the return on investment is almost guaranteed.

Still, not all branches of medicine are that way. You can opt to become a podiatrist – a doctor who deals with injured feet and ankles. Usually, you must have at least three years of college before you can get into a school of podiatry. Still, it’s considerably a shorter term than if you pursue general practice. It might not be a very glamorous occupation, but the pay is good and your hours are usually your own.

3) Accountants

Accountants are also among the highest paid careers out there. While you do have to deal with numbers, it’s more about understanding the business rather than real Math equations.

This job is also non-gender specific, which makes it an ideal career prospect for anybody. Not to mention, there is a shortage of certified accountants in the world. If you’re good at what you do, companies will run after you and offer you skyrocketing salaries.

Even if you have one of the highest paying careers in the world, keep in mind that not everything is about money. If you’re not happy with your job, it won’t be long before you wear yourself out. Love what you do and be grateful for what you already have.

If you have been searching for a way to make money from home, you know that real online work is sometimes not easy to find. With so many scams, it’s hard to know what is legitimate and what isn’t. I will tell you about a few options that will help you make some good money from your home.

Choosing how you want to make money depends on what you consider real online work. Many people enjoy making money with online surveys, which can really add to the monthly income. Some who do surveys for a couple of hours per day make a very good living using this method!

Finding legitimate data entry or typing positions is another story. There are so many people looking for these types of jobs that it sometimes isn’t easy to find them. Most companies that have real online work available in this area have a waiting list of people wanting to work for them. If you apply for this kind of job, you may be waiting for a year or more to start working.

There is a company called Legit Online Jobs that hire people to do ad placement. There are thousands of large companies that hire people to place ads for them online, and they pay extremely well. Legit Online Jobs has a listing of employers, and you choose which ones you want to place the ads for. This is an extremely popular site for those who want legitimate work in the data entry field.

If you are qualified for more specialized positions, there are some sites where you will find real online work in fields like web design, editing, medical transcriptionist, engineering and many other positions that require experience or a degree. You can find legitimate work much easier if you are trained in a certain field.

Of course, you can always find opportunities to make money from home stuffing envelopes, assembling crafts, mailing postcards and doing mystery shopping. Many people don’t believe that these are legitimate options, but many of them really are. Big companies do need people to mail out circulars and news to their massive mailing lists!

As you can see, there are many real online work opportunities available. The question is if they are something that you are interested in. For some legitimate options that have been tested and reviewed, see the links below!

When you were a child, you probably dreamed of having that one perfect career. A cowboy, firefighter, astronaut, or perhaps a circus clown. But then, something else happened. You grew up. Suddenly you had grown-up responsibilities to meet and bills to pay. You graduated from school and were expected to take a good, decent job. So you settled on what you could get at the time, and your dream job remained just a dream.

If you dreamed of being a truck driver, it’s not too late to make it happen. After all, you spend hours fantasizing about hitting the open road, so why not use that time to make it happen? If your dream gig is driving a big rig; if you live to cruise the highways, visit new places and explore new horizons; this is the time to get started.

Really successful people don’t just love what they do; they do what they love. A paycheck is not their measure of success. It’s the pride and confidence that they have in their work. Other people are envious, but those sour souls think it must be luck or a guarded secret, rather than taking the cue and following their own dreams. Jealous people often fail to realize that successful people worked hard for their good fortune, and sometimes struggle to land their dream career.

Dream careers are not reserved for a blessed few. You have a dream, too, and you can attain it. But, you need to be willing to work hard to get there. Magic and mystery are not part of the process. It takes only a few simple and proven steps. If you want to be a truck driver, these four steps will get you on the road:

1. Believe in Yourself. If you really believe that a driving career is in reach, you will attain it. Self-confidence is a critical and often overlooked element to true success. You need to genuinely believe that you deserve to be a trucker, and can handle the responsibilities. People who realize their career dreams are those who believe in their goals. And it is not difficult to become a true believer. On paper or screen, jot down your image of yourself working in a truck driving job in detail. Sketch a simple picture that you can read or look at daily. Use this form of positive reinforcement to inspire you.

2. Get the Facts. Now that you are confident in your own potential for success, you must back up your beliefs with relevant facts. Research what specific steps will be needed to bring your picture to life. Once you know this, you’ll be more comfortable when it’s time to take action. Where are the nearest truck driver training schools? How do they rate with graduates? Will your dream job require specialized training beyond the CDL or LGV/HGV license? If a trucking career will mean a drop in pay, is that important to you or do you value happiness over money? Ask every possible question, and give yourself honest answers. Once you have all of the facts, you will be prepared and ready to take action.

3. Commit to Your Success. Some people are truly frightened of success. To be a true success not only requires honesty and commitment, but also contains the potential to fail. Successful people are almost never afraid to say, “I will”. Most of us are not inclined to make strong commitments. We often say that keeping ourselves “tied down” will somehow hinder us from being open to other opportunities. Don’t obsess about the odds of something better coming along. Commitment gives you a far more powerful reason to get out of bed each morning and work toward becoming a truck driver.

4. Make a Plan. Once you’ve committed to starting a trucking career, map out the path you’ll take. Look at your research and put your list of facts into play. Take your big plan and break it down into smaller and more easily obtainable goals. Create a timeline and write these goals on your calendar. Make a ‘to-do’ list, and then get on your way. It’s important to manage your priorities and focus only on the items that will actually bring you closer to your success. Stop dreaming, and use your time to accomplish those all-important small first steps. If you need help, ask for it. Delegate or eliminate tasks whenever possible. If your family supports your choice to become a truck driver, speak with them about helping you accomplish your goals.

No matter what you may believe about those fortunate and truly successful people, dream careers don’t fall from the sky. Success comes to those who really believe in themselves, and work hard to bring their dreams to life. Don’t worry about taking those small steps; it’s the best way to reap your biggest rewards. One day soon you’ll be rolling down the highway as a confident, successful truck driver enjoying your dream career.

I would say that a lot of people out there have heard of legit online jobs. It has had a large impact on the internet especially in the work from home industry. If you find yourself trying to find ways to make money from home then keep reading.

The website for legit online jobs is full of companies who will actually pay you to work out of your house. The companies have all been verified by the legit online jobs crew and offer a real way to make money from home. Some of the things you can find as a member are companies that pay you for:

Doing Data Entry for companies

Translating emails and documents, or transcribing them

Writing and Editing

Research

Some companies need home secretaries.

Using your home as a virtual office

Marketing or sales – which is usually the most lucrative.

There are also advantages in legit online jobs for those who are in the sales and marketing field, particularly online marketing. There are hundreds of thousands of good jobs in the program and they constantly update. You will never run out of jobs to work on by being a member.

You dont just work for companies with this program, you seek out opportunities that you are passionate about. I want to state again, that these are not business opportunities, franchises or anything like that. These are real companies who pay people to work from their homes. This may be the boost your career needs.

Now there are some who say this program is not worth it. Some others also say that a beginner may have trouble with all the information. Yet more say that it is not worth it because if you look long and hard enough all the information is free. I say we buy butter, but we could technically make it right? The website has compiled all the information you need for you. It is a one stop shop.

I just want to state again that this is a useful resource, but it is not he most recommended online.

by Trevor Davide Grant

The amount of salary one makes throughout their lifetime career and the subsequent lifestyle and quality of life as a result of that income depends a lot on the amount of salary a person negotiates before their first day on the job.

This might be considered whether it is your first job out of university or if it’s a mid-life job change. Further, there are financial impacts when you are in your career working for an employer that you are very happy with, of not negotiating your salary with the best timing.

During your career, you may earn pay raises and job advances within the company that you work for, but when the company offers regularly scheduled increases, as many companies do, the impact of your starting salary with that employer is significant.

This is not only applicable to your first salary negotiation and subsequent incremental pay raises but also to salary differentials you may get when you changes roles within a company. You may switch into a job requiring significantly increased duties, effort, or responsibilities, and the salary you had earned beforehand can genuinely influence the starting salary at the new job.

Take a person starting a career as a system analyst in a high tech company somewhere in the United States, as an example. Say that person begins with a starting salary of $45,000. Most likely that person will have to dedicate at least 6 months to one full year before they are offered their first raise. Suppose it is a 10% raise which would be A LOT in most businesses. That person would gain an additional $4500 yearly based on that raise.

Suppose that same person started at $55,000 or more. That same pay hike of 10% would provide the same employee $5500 additional salary per year. With the first salary band, the employee would still be under the $50,000 mark after one full year of effort and after a 10% pay increase, while in the second situation the employee would be at over $60,000 a year after a 10% pay increment.

Now analyze the compound repercussion of these two starting salaries on the individuals earning potential. First let’s examine a 4 year timeline, all other things being equal (that is, suggesting no pay increases and no job advances). The person earning $45K will have earned $180K in total salary in 4 years. The person earning $55K will have earned $220K in 4 years. That is a $40K difference just based on where the employee started in terms of negotiated compensation.

Introduce a ten percent raise after year 1 and consider the impact as the person moves through their career. The person with a most salary in the beginning will always be ahead of the person with the lower starting salary, all things being equal (i.e. identical job, identical job performance). The person with the higher salary will be getting ahead faster than the person starting with the lower salary. This impact multiplies with each coming year assuming the same annual percentage pay raise for each.

When negotiating a pay raise, if an employee earning $50,000 earns a 5% raise without negotiating anything extra, that might acceptable. Now consider the impact if the person gets a 15% pay raise because they have been a superstar in the job and they have all the supporting market facts and a performance record to justify it. That employee will have negotiated compensation – $7,500 in an increase versus just accepting $2500. Project that 10 years into the future, and there is a blatant $50,000 impact on the person’s earnings.

Many experts suggest that it is better to try negotiating a raise or an improvement to the compensation package than to simply receive the package that is offered. The first offer is often the lowest offer and can be improved with salary negotiation. This negotiation must be done with care and must be well based with a supporting case for the difference.

One must also analyze factors such as market, corporate guidelines, and personal performance. However when done well, it can really pay off. Remember to consider the value of all factors of compensation when asking for a raise. Some people truly value free time, their quality of life, while others are willing to take a chance and maybe accept stock options in lieu of pay.

However, when it comes to negotiating, don’t be afraid to consider asking for more.

ESL Teaching Jobs Lead to Overseas Adventures

I’ve always wanted to travel the world and visit exotic places, but since I’m just a couple years out of college, I really don’t have the funds to do so right now. I’m still paying off student loans and trying to save a little money for a rainy day, but it’s tough to do with the entry-level salary that I’m currently on. So when a friend of mine announced that he was going to move to China to teach English for a year, I asked him a bunch of questions about ESL teaching jobs and decided I needed to have a similar adventure.

I did some more research online about ESL teaching jobs around the world, just to make sure this was something I could get into. I was encouraged to learn that no special certification or training is necessary to teach English as a Second Language; instead, most prospective employers simply require that the applicant have a Bachelor’s degree (any major is ok), a valid passport, and is a native English speaker. Since I qualify on all those points, I began looking through listings of ESL teaching jobs in earnest.

Asian countries seem to have the most ESL teaching jobs available, with China, South Korea, Japan, and Thailand leading the way. But the demand for English teachers is also picking up in places like Spain, the Czech Republic, Russia, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and all throughout South America. It would be amazing to spend a year or more in any of those exotic destinations — all while getting paid good money to teach English for an average of 30 hours a week. Plus, I’d be able to use my weekends and other free time to explore these fabulous countries… Are ESL teaching jobs the best-kept secret out there, or what!

Of course, the prospect of packing up my whole life and moving halfway across the world is a bit scary, but my research into ESL teaching jobs showed me that most employers go out of their way to make the transition as easy as possible. For example, most positions come with a subsidized housing provision so I don’t have to worry about looking for a place to stay. In addition, the employer helps with things like setting up the Internet in my apartment, opening a local bank account, and filing the right visa paperwork for employment eligibility. And there will always be other Americans, Canadians, Aussies, and Brits to hobnob with, so I shouldn’t get too homesick!

I’ve already submitted my resume to a couple of schools offering ESL teaching jobs in China and Japan, as well as one in Peru and one in Spain and one in the UAE. I’m confident that I’ll be hired by at least one of these institutions, and will be on my way to an exciting overseas adventure very soon. I better start packing now!

Have you ever noticed that just about every job advertisement for a full time job specifies that you must have experience? How do you get experience if you can get a job? One way of getting the experience you need to land a permanent position is to apply for temporary jobs that require your particular qualifications. When the job is finished you have the experience and another reference to add to your resume. A temporary job is also a good opportunity for you to see if you like working in a specific environment and to add to your repertoire of skills.

Working in a temporary job is also the perfect way to earn money if you don want to commit to full time employment when you are attending college or if you want a second job to help you save up some money or to pay expenses. These jobs are available in both skilled and unskilled areas. For some jobs, you will need to have a college education and for others you may only need to have a high school education or less.

Many employers that hire temporary employees also offer benefits, which is a plus. These benefits could include holiday pay, medical and dental coverage and life insurance. When you apply for a job you can inquire about the benefit package that the company offers its temporary employees or if you answer an ad, it may state in the ad that there are benefits included in the package.

With the uncertainty in today economy, many employers who would usually offer full time employment are opting for temporary or contract jobs instead. This gives them the chance to be able to get smaller jobs done over a period of time without having to make a commitment of hiring workers for the long term. They often state that a contract can be renewed after a successful term of work.

With temporary employment you can choose when and where you want to work. If you are attending school or if you have commitments at home that prevent you from working certain hours, most employers are quite willing to arrange your schedule according to the hours when you are available for work. For example, if you are a mother with children attending school, you might want to work only during school hours with your weekends and holidays off.

In most companies, even though you are a temporary employee, you may actually work full time hours and the position may turn into a permanent position after you have proven that you are well able to do the work required. By accepting a temporary job, this could be a stepping stone to getting the job you always wanted when you pay your dues by working part time. You will be well positioned to move into a permanent position when one becomes available in the company.

It is an easy task to apply for a temporary job. There are many temp agencies that will help you find work. In addition, you will find ads for such work online, in newspapers and even in postings at your school and in the supermarket. Some locations may have signs posted outside letting everyone know they are looking to hire workers in temporary positions.

by Glen Pearson

If you’ve ever wondered about what a particular person did in the past, you might have thought about doing a background check. After all, doing so can give you full information on anyone’s history.

While in years past a detective agency or private investigator was required to put together all the information, it’s not that way anymore. Thanks to the Internet, we now have the ability to learn about anyone’s background without leaving our desks.

There are a number of reasons for people to run background checks. They may need to check the background of a potential employee, or perhaps you’ve run into someone or someone in your family is seeing someone you’re curious about.

Lots of people even do a background check on their own histories. This shows them what other people will see, and it helps them make sure it’s all accurate. If you find any errors, you can easily get the right contact information and correct the problem.

Companies have created enormous online databases of information on people’s backgrounds and of their public documents. These can be searched, and are able to provide information to everyday users.

Background checks can usually tell you a lot about a person. Some of the things you might get out of a background check include a person’s credit rating and report, their criminal background, where they’ve lived, employment history and marriage history. It’s simple to find out all about someone using this kind of search.

You probably won’t be surprised by the fact that you have to pay a little bit to run this kind of check. However, if you’re not sure you want to sacrifice any money yet, there’s one thing you can do beforehand.

To see what kind of information you can get, all you do is bring up your favorite search engine and enter the name of the person you’re interested in, as well as where they live. Remember to put the name in quotations and the city name outside them. Now, see what your get.

There’s a pretty good chance that you won’t find anything useful this way – be aware. That’s because so many people have the same name that it’s hard to figure out what’s accurate for the person you’re looking for. In depth information may also be hard to find, but this kind of search is easy and free, so it’s worth a shot.

If you aren’t able to find any information using this method, there are other options. Choose a background check provider that has a money back guarantee and you’ll be able to be sure you won’t have to pay if you can’t find what you want.

The other great idea is looking for companies that only charge you once. You’ll pay a flat fee for full membership privileges and the ability to do as many searches as you like, rather than paying each time.

Online background checks give you the ability to feel like a private investigator in the comfort of your own home. This is the simple way to get all the information about anyone you’re curious about.

There is nothing worse than feeling like you’re left out of the loop – especially when it comes to your career. But because there can be so many changes taking place in your field, you can look up one day and realize your entire industry has left you behind.

With the economy changing as quickly as it is, you can’t afford to not know what the latest trends are. Including whether companies are laying off or hiring, as well as what fields are requiring that you learn new technologies. So how can you stay abreast of what’s happening in your field? Let’s look at some sure-fire ways to get this done …

Read Industry Reports and Trade Publications

One way that you can make sure you always know what’s going on in your industry is to read industry reports. You can read reports about what’s going on specifically in your field, as well as reports about what’s going on in the entire workforce. By doing this, you can know if your industry is dwindling, or check on industries paralleling yours that you may be able to move into.

There are a variety of industry reports you can look at to find out what’s going on. For example, Execunet.com offers studies on hiring trends, information on what fields are best to enter, and much more related to top-level executive employment. Another industry reporting example is the Food Marketing Institute, which functions on and offline and offers a variety of surveys, facts and figures, and more through their website and quarterly reports regarding profitability, inventory productivity, and labor costs in the grocery and supermarket industry. Also, you can visit websites like ValuationResources.com that offer dozens of reports related to specific industries. There are many more resources available to keep you informed. You just have to make strides to find out what they are.

Read the Newspaper

Reading the newspaper may sound old fashioned, but believe it or not, it is still a great resource for discovering and staying abreast of industry information. Reading the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and the main and business sections of your local major newspaper can give you great insight into the trends of certain industries, as well as specific companies.

If you don’t want to spend the money to subscribe to a newspaper, you can probably visit your local newspaper’s website for information. However, to get in-depth access with the Wall Street Journal and The New York Times websites, you must subscribe online.

Join Professional Associations

Whether you’re joining a local professional association, the Chamber of Commerce, or an online message board, you can find great in-depth information about your field and the workforce as a whole by joining other professionals in your field. It is through these affiliations that you can make necessary professional connections, link up with recruiters in your field, and simply keep your hand on the pulse of what’s going on in your industry.

Staying informed in your industry is beneficial whether you’re looking for a new job or not. By always knowing what’s going on, you can become a major player in your industry, making a difference in your life and others.

As we face a difficult economy it becomes increasingly important to think wisely and not get emotional about sourcing job candidates. With smart decisions you can actually move ahead of your competition if that is in another company or within your own company with competing recruiters.

Probably one of the best things you can do is take the time to put in a 80/20 rule for your employees if you are a manager. Keep on the top 20% of your most productive recruiters and extend their contracts to show faith during challenging times. Then you will need to look to trim the excess with the bottom 10% and look to even take more out if necessary.

The middle 70% you need to be very careful with because each situation is going to have to be taken care of on an individual basis to find out exactly what works and will not during this recession. Often effort can go unnoticed so it becomes important to carefully view what each person does with their time during and outside of work.

If you are not making managerial decisions then you need to make personal decisions with your time and analyze what is working well and what is not working well. Look to cut out all the areas that are inconsistent and producing little results and demanding a great deal of your time.

Look to train and make improvements daily in your strategies and look for ways to do so after hours when you are not working. It is best to be smart with your efforts and implement methods and test them during the day and re-evaluate daily what is working well and what isn’t. You can be amazed what you can change with a few tweaks here and there.

Start planning your hiring needs by the quarter for all of your important job positions that you have to fill. Get your line managers to update their quarterly plans and have them perform tracking just as often to realize what is working well. You have to be very smart with the time you have because this is a great open window to make improvements.

The most important thing is that you need to find time to use online advertising tools like Entice Labs and Jobs2Web to attract your ideal customers. The more you do this the better chance you will have of finding the ideal candidates and decrease your cost per hire in a difficult marketing period.

It can be tough to find success in a down economy, but you have to do it and continue to look for ways to improve. The better you are with your methods the quicker you will pull out of the recession and pass your competition.
