Workplace Discrimination & Related Rights in Employment

DICSCRIMINATON AND RELATED RIGHTS IN THE WORKPLACE

Equal opportunities workplace discrimination in sex discrimination cover sexual orientation, same-sex prejudice, adoption, paternity, maternity, parental, dependant leave, marital status, equal pay; race relations employment discrimination ethnic relations, religious discrimination, nationality, citizenship; discriminatory practices, disability discrimination.

Sex equality, race relations, disability work rights in employment discrimination laws are:-

A. It is employment discrimination contrary to nondiscrimination policy, unlawful prejudice, to treat employees e.g. working women, colored, foreign workers less favorably than others ~this is the basis of equal opportunities, nondiscrimination laws, in workplace discrimination, be it gender equality, racial equality, disability rights in employment -applying employment discrimination rights is illegal.

B. It is illegal workplace victimization to penalize one for complaining or inquiring about or doing anything in good faith in relation to employment discrimination -be it about discriminatory practices of e.g. gender prejudice or sexual orientation or ethnic relations, even if there has not been, and even if the employer retaliation is not itself employment discrimination ~causing detriment after employment ends also is employment discrimination.

Important details of employment discrimination are:-

Equal Opportunities are not minority rights, or women’s rights only ~it is equally illegal employment discrimination for e.g. black or women employers to subject to racial inequality or gender discrimination or sexual harassment a white an employee -in ethnic relations it is employment discrimination whether the employer belongs to a dominant majority group or a minority group.

Lawful prejudice is possible: in employment discrimination, whether it is race relations, ethnic relations, or sex equality, employers are entitled to employment discrimination in recruitment by preferring a particular racial or ethnic or gender or sexual orientation class to ensure fair gender equality or racial equality respecting nondiscrimination policy ~non-employment of the disabled is legal employment discrimination if workers are less than 20 -or if a legal musts, e.g. safety helmet for Sigh bike messenger.

Segregation, racial or ethnic, is not unlawful employment discrimination if genuinely otherwise it would disrupt ~in gender equality it is not illegal employment discrimination but lawful discriminatory practice to provide separate one-sex facilities to avoid embarrassment -it is also legal employment discrimination if it would offend a sizable faith.

Otherwise racial segregation can make liable in employment discrimination as race discrimination -if it arises from an employment discrimination complaint, additionally, also as employment victimization.

Employment victimization if is due to, e.g., gender prejudice, an employment discrimination complaint must have preceded it – Negorajam -v- Agnew, 1994.

Workplace harassment, be it sexual, religious or belief, ethnic or racial harassment, is more than employment discrimination -it can be, additionally to employment discrimination, a criminal offence ~also if it is only employment discrimination and on its own not of criminal nature, if persisted in, in employment or after termination.

Sex harassment or racist abuse by a colleague is not workplace harassment as employment discrimination if not in course of or at place of work nor related to work -action lies in equal opportunities but not as employment discrimination.

Workplace harassment, e.g., sexual harassment, is required in employment discrimination case-law to be shown to have adversely affected one’s dignity – Porcelli -v- Stratchlyde Rural District Council, 1980.

Religious or Belief Discrimination it is in equal opportunities and employment discrimination, because of one’s religion or belief, to apply a condition on the assumption that a law would not be respected -e.g. an undertaking that Sigh builders would wear helmets at all times, or that a Sigh judge would wear instead of his turban the wig worn in British courts of law.

Degrading treatment (which the above would also be) in employment discrimination under the race relations legislation (racial victimization -or religious, ethnic, color, nationality, citizenship) takes into account what the complainant considers to be degrading.

Age Discrimination may also be complained of, if employee or candidate may is refused employment because of his or her age, or in employment if is less favourably treated or subjected to victimization.

Disability discrimination while it is, in employment discrimination legislation, to not provide some 30% disability work for disabled employees in a workforce of 20 or more -with appropriate work and equipment and workplace adjustments, disability discrimination is subject to employment discrimination precedent and the courts may regard an employer’s failure in special interviewing arrangements not a discriminatory practice amounting to employment discrimination but failure of the disabled job applicant, even if the special arrangements need was stated on the application and details were never asked, if disabled persons fail to specify them .

Disability discrimination is legal if the workforce is less than 15 ~also if of indirect effect on disabled workers -it is employment discrimination only if it affects directly.

Disabilities do not entitle to equal rights or disability rights in disability employment discrimination unless for a year seriously disabled in ordinary daily activities -else it is not employment discrimination.

Genuine occupational qualification excuses employment discrimination -in equal opportunities employment rights it is a genuine occupational qualification is one that does not unjustly disqualify an entire class of, e.g., female workers or married women employees, or staff transsexual or of a different sexual orientation, or alien workers ~in employment discrimination such proof is on the employer in sex or race discrimination claims – Panesaar -v- Nestle 1980.

Grading of employees vulnerable to employment discrimination -e.g. of working women or black or immigrant workers, may be complained of as employment discrimination ~employer must show that were not taken into account personal factors, e.g. a working woman likely to take maternity leave or a single parent working girl, in assessing – National Vulcan Engineering -v- Wade, 1977.

Maternity leave, paternity or parental or adoption or dependant leave, in employment discrimination laws are for all -married, partner, or neither ~if it is agreed contractually, employment discrimination laws forbid employers to prefer the contractual or the statutory entitlement -in equal opportunities applicable to employment discrimination employees choose which.

Comparison must be made if one is directly subjected to employment discrimination to show that employment discrimination to have been by way of less favorable treatment of the complainant than other workers – Aziz -v- Trinity Taxis, 1998.

Less favorable treatment complained of as employment discrimination must have taken place at the workplace or must be in relation to employment, otherwise it is not employment discrimination ~in ethnic relations, e.g., employer’s excluding from a house-warming party is not equal opportunities race equality breach of nondiscrimination policy -but it is employment discrimination if from a workers’ office party – Walters -v- Metropolitan Police, 1997.

Equal pay if the employment discrimination has been in respect of, it is inessential for comparison to be of identical work -in employment discrimination precedent similar work suffices, e.g., a single working girl’s work and a married working woman’s like work – Hayward -v- Canwell Laird Shipyards, 1977.

Internal Appeal offer in employment discrimination must precede worker’s dismissal, if made – James -v- Waltham Holy Cross Urban District Council, 1973.

Claims for employment discrimination or, e.g., sexual harassment or color victimization must allege so -if the worker only claims only unfair dismissal the qualifying period may bar an, e.g., race equality employment discrimination case exempt from the qualifying period requirements – British Airways Engine Overhaul -v- Francis, 1981.

Qualifying period for suing does not apply to employment discrimination and workplace harassment -no particular length of service need be shown to sue for employment discrimination ~also so in equal opportunities workplace victimization.

Time limit does apply -in employment discrimination legal proceedings must be commenced within three months of the equal opportunities breach or of when the employment discrimination, or the employment discrimination victimization, became known – Cornelius -v- University College -Swansea 1987.

Questionnaires are part of equal opportunities claims in employment discrimination whether sex discrimination, color prejudice, workplace harassment, or employment victimization ~one may serve one on the employer and use answers or non-reply in arguing employment discrimination.

Amendments may be allowed by employment tribunals to employment discrimination complaints, only if are about a matter included in the in employment discrimination particulars – Swiss Life & Health Insurance -v- Kay, 2004.

Additional claims based on same employment discrimination also so – Ashworth Hospital -v- Liebling, 1996.

Onus of proof in employment discrimination is the complainant’s on a balance of probabilities ~regard to employer’s reasons for the alleged employment discrimination can reverse that – Humphrey’s -v- Board of Management of St. George’s School, 1978.

The European Court of Justice has ruled in employment discrimination cases that there is no limit on what may be awarded for injury to feelings in claims arising from workplace discrimination.

Costs may be involved if a party, including the complainant, has been vexatious, frivolous, or “otherwise unreasonable” –normally, in the course of or in relation to the proceedings.

Laws change; these are brief guidelines.

Ever wondered why some people simply appear more positive than others? Being positive is not at all in the state of mind. It also translates to how well you communicate — your choice of words, your tone of voice and your non-verbal cues. What types of words should you use to make yourself a more confident and positive when getting one of the job opportunities in NZ and you as a person?

Adecco New Zealand – the leading human resource service provider in NZ which offers thousands of available Dunedin jobs, Wellington jobs, Christchurch jobs and Auckland jobs gives few tips to help you be more positive when getting a job in New Zealand and in the workplace;

At job interviews…

At job New Zealand interviews, speak clearly and confidently. Do not speak too fast as this could indicate that you are nervous. When describing your job scope and duties, use active words to demonstrate your capabilities, e.g. “initiated” or “conceptualized” etc. Speak enthusiastically and ask relevant questions about the job – this will demonstrate your interest in the position. Avoid any negativity such as complaining about your current employer or boss and putting down your ex-colleagues.

While on the job…

A positive worker is a morale booster to the company. Everyone likes being around with pleasant people at the workplace. When it comes to job New Zealand promotions and rewards, bosses notice people who communicate effectively and confidently. Make these tips your workplace habits from now on!

• Be tactful when presenting bad news. For example, if there is a problem at work, remember to provide your bosses with possible solutions. Convey the problem to them calmly by stating the facts, then present your possible solutions and seek their advice on which solution would be best.

• Always use positive words. Instead of negative word like “problems”, use “challenges”. Instead of using the word “complaints” use the word “feedback”. Use confident words, like “I believe” or “I’m confident that this will work”. Your words should demonstrate conviction and your commitment to the task on hand.

• Practice good manners. Always say “thank you” and “please”. It is simple manners but many people forget them at the workplace.

In written communication…

The same rules apply when communicating via email or memos. In fact, be extra careful with written communication, as the risk of it being misinterpreted is higher. There are no non-verbal cues to support the message; therefore, always choose your words carefully – a misunderstood message may cost you your job.

The trends now in job hunting has changed and slowly, job seekers and employers are beginning to realise the power of an employment agency and a head hunting resource to aid in the search. What you need to understand is that this is one of the most untapped resources on the market for people wanting to find either the perfect job or the perfect employee. When thinking about this, you need to understand that a head hunting company or a human resource management coalition is your key to career building. In their role as a career builder, they will be able to help you find job positions that are suitable for your credentials and preferences. More importantly, they have the wide range of contacts that you do not have.

Imagine if you will someone who is on a specific career path and would like to accelerate their career paths with another job of similar structure but different perspective. The first thing that they would do is to look for the job that fits this description, but then they have to wrestle with the varying ways that they can do this. One way is for them to look at the news papers and periodicals where companies would often post their job needs, and sometimes this can be like a wild stab in the dark because there is no guarantee that the job of your dreams will be posted there.

Another thing is that you might want to go online and search there, and while this is a much better way to navigate the job market, you also come into a problem where millions of people all over the region or the world, depending on the nature of the job search engine, would be contesting for the same cyberspace interview. Companies who are posting their needs online would normally be overrun with emails and revenues of people wanting the job, and there is no real personal touch to this.

What they get is a disembodied email and all you can do to sell yourself is with your email introduction and of course the actual resume. You would be shocked to know that employers only look at less than 40% of resumes sent to them, they often make their decisions to view a resume in full by the bio of the person, and the email or letter sent to them.

This means that your bid to work in that organisation would be buried under a pile of digital data. You need to have a clear path to the companies of your choice and you need to have that personal touch, or a formal introduction. The repute of an employment agency is one that you can leverage on and companies often take a good view to candidates that have been recommended in this way to them. It increases your favourability factor and would give you a better percentile chance of getting the job. So instead of battling out with the rest of the people seeking the same kind of job as you are, you might want to opt for the help of an employment agency to give you that extra edge.

<a rel=”nofollow” target=”_blank” href=” “>http://www.iwcpl.com/”> International Workplace Consulting Pte Ltd , an executive head hunter, will provide your company with all employment services to fulfill your human resources needs. They have also acted as a career builder, providing professionals with the ideal job opportunities.Article Source:http://www.articlesbase.com/careers-articles/dedicated-career-builder-leverage-on-an-untapped-resource-1029660.html

The worth of employment services in industry is tough to argue against. They make available services mutually for the company and member of staff except there are positive issues you should think about when looking to make use of a employment organization. This editorial endeavours to provide potential workers an inspiration of how staffing organizations function and the traditions in which to obtain the most excellent practice from all of their services.
At the outset, you have to keep in mind that staffing services are not readily available to perform as your individual recruiter.

Loads of profession seekers formulate the error of philosophy that staffing agencies will contribute hours and hours to the discovery of jobs for them. This is a widespread misapprehension that applicants have; it is not the profession of enrolment services to expend their occasion rummaging around the internet and broadsheets to come across for you appropriate arrangements. They will provide you with a profession at what time one comes into their database that equals your criterion, the procedure can be hustled up, but on the other hand, you can hasten the entire process by making an annoyance of yourself to the bureau.

One of the more common misconceptions about the employment agency is that they will immediately give you the best job. This is something that you need to get out of your head. The whole point of an employment agency is to match the best possible criteria, and that is a solution that you will not get on the internet, whose job search engine functions will just throw you the first thing that falls under the general categories. The employment is a one top solution for your focused needs, but it is not there to be the perfect solution to your problem. You might want to think about actually using both their services and the services of a job search engine.

The good thing about these agencies is that they also provide things like contest of contract, which you will be able to use the agencies as a platform to tweak or even change the position and details of the initial offer, which is always made through the agency anyway. For the most part, staffing agencies will desire to be acquainted with your present income and wage anticipations as a component of their provision. This is not an endeavour to give the wrong impression about you or achieve data for their advantage and your defeat.

As a number of staffing agencies labour on a proportion foundation for your initial year’s earnings, they basically would like to acquire a thought of the payment they will take delivery of. If a recruiter come within reach of you, do not be totally put off by this undeviating deed, endeavour and remain approachable to their communication; yet if you have determined not to modify occupations following all, the relationship can be helpful if and at what time you endeavour to discover a new-fangled employment. With the employment agency, anything is possible.

To be head hunted by another company is perhaps the most gratifying element of building your career. To be recognised for your talent and achievement by another organisation willing to pay top dollar for your services should prove the high point of many people in the whole career building part of their lives. But the thing is, head hunting is not as exclusive as you think it is – and there are now established ways for you to get yourself noticed and for companies to notice you.

The traditional method of head hunting would come through either recognition of your achievements or a good referral system where the HR department would get wind of your talent and put the offer up. Now, there are head hunting agencies that do just thins and they best thing about this service is that now, anyone can move up and accelerate their career with the amount of exposure that they get.

Head hunting is not just about getting the top performer from another company, it is also about hunting for people with a specific set of talents to work for them. This might not mean that they have to really good at what they do, but it does mean that they not only have the tools to perform at the job, bring something new to the table and also have the potential to be mined and enhanced for all their worth.

Who knows, you might have a set of talent skills that are not being recognised by the company that you are working with right now, and another company might see a valuable potential in you. This is the kind of exposure that you need to get. Most people all over the world are stuck in the situation that they are being under utilised and because of the fact that they are being under utilised and their talents are not being channeled effectively. The whole point of a resume and the list of talents is for it to get the air space that it needs.

A head hunter agency would give your resume and talent sets a launch into the stratosphere, and because of this, more people and more organisations would be able to recognise this talent in you and ask you to work for them. This is the extra advantage that you need. They have the resources and the affiliations with literally thousands of corporations who are interested in one thing and one thing only, to get the best talents and the employees with the most potential on board. These are just some of the things that a head hunter agency can do for you and all you need to do is to register with them and pay a nominal fee. Look at the fee not as an expense, but an investment into the growth of your career. More and more people all over the world are joining these head hunting agencies for the betterment of their carers and you should too.

Everyone wants to be the boss at work on the job. It is as if everyone wants to be chief no one wants to be a plain employee or a worker. Still it’s not a bed of roses at the top.

Well it can be said that while there are troops if not legions of “bad” “poor” or even downright terrible bosses try putting the shoe on the other foot and see it from your manager or supervisor’s viewpoint. Perhaps it would not be so good and easy; if not in a movie you woke up one day, not as an ordinary and standard worker bee and were the actual reigning boss in charge. It might well be a horror movie or at least not too easy and enjoyable day. On the other hand now you might think and ponder perhaps it is different from this perspective. Indeed you might send your employer a most positive, note, memo or letter. Perhaps you might even send your superior a poem.

Those who think that the boss has an all together easy life – full of perks , stop options , time off and total rules of their own seem to play the “if I were or were only the boss” game with great scorn. These employees and underlings daydream and even life in a fantasy land and make believe world that just given both the chance and opportunity how quickly , easily idealistically they would make a most major , distinct importance difference in the workplace both in terms of leadership , fairness , productivity and in the case of for profit companies and industries a better bottom line balance sheet and record of company profit , all the while having the greatest trust and respect of each and every employee working at the firm.

Not only that but these dreamers tend to simply focus solely on the perceived power and powers , influence , prestige and the financial benefits that come with the job of the “boss” be it CEO , general manager , manager , president , owner or whatever varied title the ultimate top of their company or organization has been given , designated or awarded.

Is being the boss as glamorous as varied employees might think or imagine in their wildest dreams? The simple and even sad fact of reality is a resounding and most loud “NO”. It’s an amazing slap of reality that many new “leaders” face the opposite – a more than rude awakening and realization during their first few months, weeks or even days on the job. They often feel overwhelmed, if not completely and solidly exasperated upon realizing that they have more than completely underestimated the scope of company or organizational expectations and even demands. Struggling with their responsibilities , many and seemingly relentless pressures , as well as the many varied as well as difficult situations and what seem like the full gamut of decisions and decision-making , most of which carry great as well as unstated implications immediately as well as down the road, they soon find out that its not all they thought. Life as a boss is not just perks and privileges awarded to the boss and upper management. Its work and downright difficult employment as well.

Think that you would like to be the boss? Think that it is easy and a piece of cake. Take off the blinders off your eyes. Put the shoe on the other foot.

There is no doubt that LinkedIn is widely used in the business community as a type of “online resume.” Anyone that has conducted a successful LinkedIn job search can tell you, it’s so much more than that. It’s a powerful tool to reach out to your industry in a new and credible way. Follow these steps and you’ll be one step closer to making strong connections to employers and industry recruiters on LinkedIn.

Step 1
Complete Your Profile
Your profile is like your online resume, only better, because people can endorse your work right on your profile. If you haven’t fully completed your profile, you aren’t giving anyone enough information to determine if you are a person they would want to share networks with. You are asking for people to open their rolodex to you, so to speak. You must have a complete profile that shows them you are worthy networking partner.

Profile description with personality – this is the place where you need to sell yourself. Think “cover letter meets 30 second elevator pitch.”

List all positions – Listing all your past positions allows the system to find more people who you may already know or who have a workplace or school in common. LinkedIn suggests people to network with based on information in your profile.

Education – For the same reason, list all the schools you attended. It may seem silly to list your high school in a resume, but LinkedIn is different. Since it uses this information to help bring people together, it’s important to include everything. You never know where your fellow classmates ended up that may help your career.

Recommendations – Endorsements are always important. LinkedIn is no exception. Ask people from each sector of your worklife to endorse the work you did when they knew you. Make sure you get clients, bosses, employees, vendors, etc.

Link to Website – You can provide up to 3 websites that relate to your work, either an online resume or your website if you have one, or one that you worked on.

SEO your profile – Always think “keywords, keywords, keywords” in everything you do online. Make sure you that are using the same words when you write your profile that someone would use to search for someone like you.

LinkedIn Applications - Utilize the applications that are relevant, integrating blogs, presentations, etc.

Step 2
Reach Out – Build Your Network
When you make a first level connection with someone, it means you know them directly. When you connect with someone, you gain a broader reach than just that person because all of the people that they know are now part of your network as 2nd level connections. Similarly, all of the second level’s connections now become your third level connections. What all this means is that you can exponentially grow your network by making smart connections to people you already know or strategic people in your industry.

Building your network is helpful if you want to ask an industry question to your connections. Your entire network is posed the question, so the more people you are connected to the more brains you are reaching. When you get ready to search jobs, the broader your network is, the greater your access to jobs posted by your network.

Connect to people you already know – Import your address book to see who you know that is already on LinkedIn. Reach out to colleagues, friends, classmates, vendors, etc.

Strategic new connections – See who your connections know. Do you also know them? Should you know them? If so, invite them to connect with a personal message of why it would be beneficial for them to share networks with you.

Step 3
Build Credibility
http://www.linkedin.com/answers

LinkedIn’s Answers section is a great way to build your industry credibility in your online community. If you have strategically connected with people in your industry, they will see your posed questions, or see that you have answered questions and come to realize that you are someone who has something meaningful to contribute. This can help you in a job search, or for general industry networking.

Step 4
Research
Once your profile has been built and you have begun your quest for online industry credibility, you are ready to start searching for positions posted by people in your network.

Search Jobs
http://www.linkedin.com/jobs
LinkedIn Jobs has openings posted by people in your network. You can search LinkedIn only or you can search throughout the web for any jobs posted online that fit your search criteria.

JobsInsider tool
This LinkedIn tool allows you to see who you know at any company who has listed open jobs, request an introduction to the hiring manager and see open job postings at Monster, CareerBuilder, HotJobs, Craigslist, SimplyHired, Dice, or Vault. The link to download the tool is located at the bottom of each LinkedIn page:
http://www.linkedin.com/static?key=jobsinsider_download&trk=hb_ft_jobsins

Companies Section
This section of LinkedIn contains information about various companies whose employees are on LinkedIn. It will show you who is in your network at that company, who has recently been hired or promoted there and will list their open positions. It also shows you where people who work there used to work, and where they went after they worked there. Knowing what’s up at a company is important for networking your way in.

Step 5
Request Introductions
When you are ready, you can request an introduction to someone in a company that either has an opening, or one that you wish you target. Professionally request the introduction, letting them know why it would benefit the receiver to know you, so the referrer feels confident in making the introduction. Make sure you have something to contribute. If it’s all about you, there is a chance your request will be ignored. Once the introduction has been made, be sure to thank the referrer. Make contact with the person and show them why connecting with you is a great career move for you both.

Get Started!
Now you are well on your way to a successful job search via LinkedIn. Be sure to commit time and effort to growing and maintaining your network. Help put others in touch so they will help you in return. Networking has always been a strong career development practice. It hasn’t changed, we just have more tools available to help make it easier. But just because it’s easier, doesn’t make it any less important. Now get out there and network!

Many people view their jobs as life itself. Some people suffer from stress related ailments such as hypertension and some die due to various diseases such as heart failure. Yes, a job brings in the necessary income for us to sustain ourselves, to put a plate of food on the table. But do we really have to go through the pains and agony of diseases in order to survive? Many employees particularly in large corporations and government institutions still believe that the jobs they hold are “jobs for life.” They are oblivious of the current economic meltdown in spite of the signs written all over that the economies of the world are at a down turn. They bring unnecessary stress to their immediate supervisors.

The following are the signs to look for that will tell you whether your workforce is suffering from the entitlement mentality syndrome:

They are mostly under qualified

They are lazy and operate at their own pace and show no sense of urgency

They produce poor quality of work

They are wasteful in terms of using company resources

They play truant from their work stations for long periods without informing their supervisors

They pretend to be busy even after finishing the work they have been allocated

They are negative to management

They bad mouth and gossip about their colleagues and supervisors

They do not hesitate to rush to their unions at a slightest provocation

They will tell you about their rights

They will remind you about how long they have been employed by the company

They advocate for automatic promotion based on their years of service

They hate interviews and regard them as a waste of time

They are spiteful of external candidates

They arrive late at work and when reprimanded gets very angry

They are the last to arrive and the first to leave

They always take longer tea and lunch breaks

They always take sick leave and conveniently extend their weekends

These are employees who will not tell you about their contribution to the company or the company bottom line they increased and the projects they have initiated and successfully completed. They have no trust in themselves and they do not know and understand their strengths. They do not know the vision, goals and objectives of the company all what they care about is a pay cheque at the end of the month. These are the time wasters who visit other colleagues’ work stations to chat about weekend sports activities, it is during these discussions where innocent employees are recruited and turned against management. It is this group of people who complain the loudest when bonuses are paid based on performance results.

When you notice any of these signs from your employees, act fast and remove the employee or employees in question, who show any of these signs before they poison and contaminate your whole workforce.

The current economic crisis has seen the number of unemployed dramatically rise in recent times, as more and more companies resort to job cuts as a way to lessen their monthly outgoings. Queues at job centres are getting longer as people look for help and jump between temporary positions in order to make ends meet.

Even the most experienced or skilled of workers are not safe at times like these as everyone finds their position under threat. While some of these will find it comparatively easy to find work in their current field of expertise, many will not be so lucky. During a time like this it may be necessary to switch industries in order to survive. While this may sound daunting, it can lead to huge benefits in the long run.

Some changes may be straightforward with many interchangeable skills – such as moving from insurance to banking – but in times of dire need such opportunities may not arise.

Many skills will always be relevant. A decent grasp of language, numeracy and the ability to communicate and work with others are necessary in almost every job and taking these basics – and improving them where you can – will put you in good stead for many positions.

There will, of course, be many jobs that require a lot more than this. While some things you can learn from books or courses, others will require on the job training. This is beneficial for the employee and the employer – the worker gets the knowledge to deal with the tasks at hand while the company knows that its staff is being trained just the way they like.

Many workplaces will offer work experience to people who they feel may benefit from some on-the-job training. Although many of these positions will be unpaid, they can often lead to a permanent position if you show initiative and a good work ethic during your time with the company.

Many people cannot afford to work unrewarded and an alternative to this is to look for apprenticeships. Unlike work experience, these positions are normally paid and offer many of the same benefits as a real job, such as holiday time and other company perks.

As an apprentice, you will be taken under the wing of an expert whose job it is to train their protégé in the role they know so well. Timeframes vary for apprenticeships with many lasting several years to ensure you get adequate training before going into the world of work on your own two feet.

By the end of your training course you will have received enough education and experience to put you in a strong position in the job market.

Finding local jobs for teens can be simple if you know where to look. There are many ads in newspapers and search engines online which are free to use. The true secret to a successful teen job search is knowing what the best paying jobs are, and what those employers look for in an employee. Show employers that you have these three qualities, and you will have a huge advantage landing the high paying teen job you want.

Got Computer Skills?

Jobs for teens with computer skills are going to pay higher than working at the local fast food restaurant. You don’t have to be a computer programmer, but if you know how to type or use a word processor make sure they know about it. Many jobs require you to use some kind of database or computer system. Having knowledge of spreadsheet programs can also be a huge benefit for you. In your job interview it is a good idea to express your knowledge of computers to management. Let them know about any computer related experience you may have.

Are You Reliable? Prove It!

One big problem employers face when hiring teens is reliability. Past problems with other teens not showing up or being constantly late for work, can make employers cautious about hiring. Submitting a letter of recommendation with your job application is a good way to build their confidence in you. Ask a teacher or some other adult to write a letter for you and turn it in with your job applications. In the letter they can mention how you always show up on time and briefly outline what qualities make you a good candidate for the job. Having a letter of recommendation can really impress management and make you stand out in the crowd.

Show Off Your People Skills

Have you ever been greeted by a store employee who was obviously not the least bit interested in helping you? Sometimes it can seem that employees really don’t care about the customers. Employers are looking for workers who will create a good impression for their businesses. Whenever you communicate with anyone at a potential workplace, show them your people skills.

Remember their names and make them feel that what they are saying is interesting to you. When you go to a job interview, smile and show the management that your personality will enhance the customers experience. Employers know that while they can train employees to do a job, they can never give someone a good personality. Being a people person will make you stand out in a large group of job applicants.

If you are looking for a new career path and have experience in architecture or assembly, you may want to think about finding a new architecture design job. Architecture has certainly come a long way in design and function over recent years, and it is a field that continues to grow and expand into new areas. As with most industries and fields, technology has truly taken the reigns and opened the door to a whole new world of possibilities based on the use of computers.

CAD programs and other architectural software programs are becoming mainstream, both in education and in the workplace, when it comes to architectural and assembly jobs. There has been a lot of growth in the field and many companies are looking for skilled and qualified professionals to run these computer drafting programs. What kind of outlook does the market hold for assembly jobs and architecture jobs? Surprisingly, quite a bit! With all of the technological advances, some people tend to think that assembly jobs in particular are going to be taken over by computers or robotics, but for the most part, the majority of positions require a human to operate the computers.

In addition to the necessity for humans to operate the programs, there has also been a lot of opportunity opening up in the way of engineering and design to develop new programs and improve the existing ones that are being used.

If you are living in or moving to the south, employers in South Carolina rely on professionals in all different facets of industries to perform architecture jobs and assembly jobs. There are a lot of companies that are hiring students out of college who have completed a technology degree to fill these South Carolina jobs; even more encouraging is the fact that the demand is ongoing. Many employers are willing to train workers who have experience in other areas of drafting or assembly line positions to transform their abilities into new design and development positions.

Most of these new jobs require a lot of computer training, but certainly can be complemented by experience in the field. If you are in a construction or production field and feel that you are capable of learning some basic architecture programs and computer design programs, you should think about getting the training needed and joining forces with an evolving field that will take you to new heights in your career.

Are you looking for advice in your career planning? Are you wondering where you can find good advice to help you make something out of your life? There are a lot of good websites to help you to take your career planning advice seriously. It is important that when you are a job seeker that you look for some expert advice for planning your career.

In college, you are taught how to be prepared for the real world, but then when you graduate you end up feeling completely lost. Your future success in life depends on how well you plan your career from the very beginning, and on how well you equip yourself to deal with the learning curve needed for success in the workplace and in navigating your way around office politics for instance.

As for some of the advice that you are going to hear, you are going to find that everyone is going to tell you that you need to make sure that your personality and your dream goals match. You can also take some online tests to help you to make sure that your aptitude and expectations will match any career you are considering at the moment. You will be able to research a solid path for your future.

With the results from your personality and career tests you will be able to find something that could make you feel good about yourself and pull your life around. Many personnel and recruitment agencies have job applicants complete such tests, so it is helpful if you already have some experience in completing these tests and can be less stressed in such a test environment. This will help you to shine in a job interview situation.

The second piece of advice that everyone is going to tell you is the fact that you are going to have to do a lot of research and work to find the career that will make you happy. You are going to have to make lists and look up each and every career that holds some interest for you. You are going to have to make sure that the career that you pick will make you happy, and if you do your proper research, you should be able to find a career that is fulfilling. You will also want to do a lot of hands on experience for you to get a real clue as to what you can do with your life. You can also seek out the assistance of a career development counselor through your college or job agency.

The last piece of advice is that you will want to follow your heart. This means that if you don’t feel like going into some field, then don’t! You don’t want to waste your time, as you may end up in a dead end job for the rest of your life.
With corporate waste at an all time high, it makes sense that a philosophy, such as Six Sigma, is in demand. Six Sigma is very specific in its methods, and you must be trained in order to use it successfully. A certification in Six Sigma black belt will give you a knowledge of the process in order to initiate the desired change in your company.

There are numerous ways to certify your employees in Six Sigma. One being the many training facilities offering black belt certification. This is where a single employee is turned into a lean cost cutting machine that is prepared to make all processes more efficient. With a Six Sigma black belt on board, you will be in for dramatic changes.

A second and equally effective option for Six Sigma black belt certification is having a Six Sigma trainer come to your business and train employees at your facility. It allows the people being trained to learn Six Sigma techniques in a comfortable setting and to go home to their families every night. This can be economically efficient if you are a large business or if you want to train multiple employees.

Another option is to perform the Six Sigma black belt training through the online course. This offers more flexibility in the time and place that you train. You still have the same quality of training, with online simulations and such, you just won’t have the face to face contact. You will be given tests to make sure you are retaining what you are learning.

The most effective way to streamline efficiency is the Six Sigma program. Research it and you will see. The training will quickly repay you. The results are proven and thousands of companies already attest to their dramatic changes.

Are you planning to make a career change? If so, you might want to consider working with a career coach. A career coach can help you create a plan for achieving your career goals while also providing you with the support and encouragement you need. In this way, you can achieve your career goals and finally work in a profession that makes you happy and provides you with a handsome income.

What is a Career Coach?

A career coach is a person that has been trained in helping other people develop their career goals. Even if you are unsure your career goals, a career coach will work closely with you in order to help you determine where you would like your career to go and to develop a plan for achieving those goals.

If you have dreams of landing a job as a manager or executive, you might want to work with an executive coach. An executive coach is a specialized type of career coach that focuses on helping a person work up the chain of command within his or her field. With the help of an executive coach, you will learn how to obtain the training needed to climb the corporate ladder as well as learn more about how you should perform in the workplace in order to get noticed and to receive the promotion you are trying to get.

Who Needs a Career Coach?

Anyone that wants to advance in his or her career or that is looking to make a career change can benefit from the services of a career coach. Whether you are just getting started in your career or have been working on your career path for many years, a career coach can help you hone your skills and make the right career decisions. Even if you are in college or are trying to determine your major in college, it can be beneficial to consult with a coach. This way, you can get assistance with choosing the classes that will put you in the best position for landing the career of your dreams once you graduate.

How do I Select a Career Coach?

When searching for a career coach, however, it is often a good idea to find one that has experience helping people within your specific field. This way, the coach can provide you with assistance and support that has to do with the career path you have chosen.
